  • Great song! It's so funny, I loved this song when I was a little girl. I would sing along on the radio having no idea what it was really about. I know my parents must have been cringing when they heard me sing those words

  • What a beautiful woman!!!! I love you Juice!!!

  • eres maravillosa moñita. gustos tan tiernos como tu. besos cuidate moñita

  • That was an era of great soulfull music, now we have Lady Gay Gay. Everything has been down hill since Madonna. The original music super whore. Somebody that is really sexy doesnt have to do all that other crap. Juice you rock.

  • This is 1 Beautiful woman.Look at that gorgeous hair! I like this version the best. Its got more power & doesnt sound like its comeing thru a tiny am radio. The original is good, but thats what it sounds like.An am radio. The other lady should update it.Re-record it...if she's still above ground.Juice took this classic over completely & made it hers,so in my opinion, she'd just be wasteing her time anyway. This is the one.(for me). She's not so hard on the eyes either.Pretty face n curls.Great singing.

  • Still have 6 track tape of this beautiful song bird. She could definitely fill a pair of leather pants as well.

  • My favorite song to play loud and sing along with at 6 in the morning when I'm on my way home from work!! (And no one's watching!!)

  • Juice ruined this song. Merrilee Rush has the best version.

  • @blabblab1212 EXACTLY!!!!!!! (Like comparing Michael Jordan to some kid at the Y!)

  • @blabblab1212 and kap3181. I Disagree!! I listened to Merrilee Rush after reading this. It's a different style. Rush sounds more folksy. Their both good, but I like Newton better. To say she ruined it is an ignorant response.

  • @cmack0619 Since when do opinions become deemed ignorant responses? Calling an opinion an ignorant response, now that's an ignorant response! I love the way you adopt a superior stance by claiming my opinion somehow lacks intelligence. Are you that stupid? That is like telling a child that they are ignorant when he or she says "cornflakes suck"! That would be the child's opinion and only a stupid adult would tell them they were ignorant. Is this becoming clearer or are you dense as lead?

  • @blabblab1212 Cornflakes and a professional singer? That's a good comparison. Saying you didn't like it is one thing, but saying she ruined it is crazy. FYI: The highest-charting (and largest-selling) version in the United States was recorded and released in 1981 by country-rock singer Juice Newton, whose remake hit #1 on the Billboard adult contemporary chart in April of that year and stayed atop the chart for three weeks. (Wikipedia) I'd say far from ruined it.

  • @cmack0619 Do you need another comparison? Were talking opinions here! So the cornflakes comparison holds up. The child feels that cornflakes suck. Is he wrong? To you, yes, because you like cornflakes. You happen to like her. That's fine. Your entitled to your opinion. But to claim that an opinion that differs from yours is ignorant, places you as thinking that you are the ultimate authority to judge what is talent. I say she sucks. You are a fucking idiot and too dense to see it.

  • @cmack0619 Here is another opinion for you. It's not so much that she lacks vocal talent; she has a good voice. Its the way she presents this song in a wishy-washy milquetoast manner. Sherry Crow did the same thing to "The First Cut is the Deepest". Destroyed it. It's one cut above muzak. Just barely.

  • @cmack0619 My opinion is ignorant. Your opinion. Cornflakes-poor comparison. Your opinion. You being dense as lead. My opinion. Juice Newton bland. My opinion. You see there are no absolutes here. Just opinions. Wait. Wait Wait. I am going to go out on the line. You are an idiot. FACT.

  • @cmack0619 No, just kidding about you being an idiot. Just an opinion.

  • Damn I have the 45 of this.

  • the shaggy version is good too

  • big hair

  • one of the most powerfull songs i remember the energy i used to get from this wow still do

  • muy buena cancion

  • damn i love this song very much

  • I'll never forget watching this video, back in the day, her hair is what really struck me :)

  • Haven't heard this song in so many years. Thanks for posting it. It brings back wonderful memories.

  • Ah, the 1980's,,,what a great time to be young.

  • I miss that long 70-80s hair.. sweet voice too

  • I would love to hear Emmy Lou Harris cover this song...if she hasn't already.

  • Agree with melodiuos metal, stunning voice great hair, very country style video which suites the song.

  • I know she was big in U.S.A. only watched thisbecause i criticised theMerrilee Rush version and got abuse for it. I didn't think she added anything to the song from the Merrille Rush version except she was bland. It is a great song , perhaps someone has yet to do the song justice. The fact that there is something about her that reeks transvestite has nothing to do with her singing.

  • I think her hair is gorgeous! This woman has a spectacular voice!

  • @melodiousmetal Amen to that!

Listen to how long she holds that last note. She must have had some very professional training to accomplish that!

  • I think I like Juice's version a little better than the original...I think it is done more powerfully. Classic stuff.

  • What to do with all this emotional imbalance? Create awesome music and let it out...today's stars are just to cool and empty to sing a song like this

  • Do you imagine that she would have been received much better by the general public if she had done something about that horrendous hair of hers? Seriously, she recorded some nice music and all but that Cousin It theme she went with cost her seven points on the rung. "Just call me Sea Monster of the morning" would have been more appropriate.

  • @Squirrlyburt well, I don't know how old you are. I am 36 and I remember that back then when this song came out, that was the style. I remember when it was the style to wear your socks up to your knee caps when wearing shorts.

  • quality

  • Excellent rendition of the orginal song.

  • takes me back to the skating rink as a kid in East Texas disco balls and lights and pink pom poms on my white skate boots. WOW I havent thot about that in years!

  • @bogartindajoey what town in east texas? im from longview

  • beautiful melody and background piano and drums.

  • I Love this I had the 45 and I wore it out right anlong wiht My Mom ! Great to hear it again Thank You

She grew to love it thought I have to say

  • @memejerry I have the LP and its never worn out on me yet. I take very good care of my records.

  • siging my ass offf I love this!!!!!11

  • The Beatles did Sgt. Pepper in 1967, same year as the original of this song, and Sgt. Pepper has stood the test of time very well. Incredible, but it was recorded using only 4 track tape and a whole lot of mix-downs. But the Beatles could afford the best that 1967 could buy and it still shows. By 1981 everything commercial was done on at least 16 tracks, and Juice's version is excellent, by far the best.

  • i wish my wife wound apply this soug to her life.....

  • I love this song, always have.

Normally I hate that Hip Hop Rap Crap and wont listen to it and i hate it when they borrow from these older songs.

That said, I first heard Shaggy's Angel at a buddy's wedding and I actually like it alot.

I don't think he did this original any diservice.

Shaggy took a beautiful song and blended it into another beautiful song.

That rarely happens when someone does that.

As much as it kills me, I gotta say, give credit, they both did a great job with this song.

  • agreat song!

  • MIS I LOVE

  • She was born Judith Kay!!!!

  • Hey brokenscimitar....a fcking moron like you does you a-hole!!!!!

  • @streetplaya23 i know what you mean but thats what so much hip hop and rap are. as long as they admit its a sample i can deal with it

  • Comment removed

  • SHAGGY BORROWED THIS SONG FOR his angel song lol

i like songs like shaggys and other hits but songs loses credits to me if they were made by fusion of different beatz from previous songs like this

  • my God I can't believe I never noticed that! :D

  • I so love this song and Juices version is much better than the original.

  • Mind you, they had better recording techniques when she recorded this song, compared to the original.

  • Wow, we were so hooked on Juice during this era...wow to be a kid again :).. Thanks a Mil

  • Just watched Chip Taylor doing Wild Thing a song made famous by the Troggs, that he wrote.

Living in Rockford Illinois at the time one of local radio stations looking for market share played this song for 8 hours straight management didn't have to think twice about what to do with the DJ that pulled this stunt.

    Chuck DJ/KJ

  • What's Juice doing these days, does she still perform? I'd love to see her in concert.

  • very good song

  • This is a fantastic track !!!

  • I saw her once, live in northern Ontario. Close enough to give her a Big-One...

  • She was my Jungle-Juice...

  • Juice Newton you are great, I love you.

  • Walking on the retaining wall of Kelowna's floating bridge, drunk and still drinking. A long way down. I had a stereo radio, this was blasting out. Later, by a couple of years, I rented with a different buddy a cougar (dead sober) in Kelowna and the stereo blasted "Love's Been a Little Bit Hard On Me" Good Times

  • This is one of my favorites. ANGEL of the Morning .

  • One of my favorite songs, thank you Bill for sending this to me.

  • the song to.

  • Her hair. Amazing i love it.

  • by far the best version ever ever sung by any artist! she sings every note perfectly!

  • hahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • lolz i used to think that what it said when i was a kid...

  • Did Juice write this song, or cover it? |It was so long ago I don't remember.

  • Merilee Rush originally sang it in the 60s.

  • And Chip Taylor wrote it. The other famous song that he wrote is Wild Thing, a big hit for the Troggs.

  • Well dose anyone else think it;s kinda sad????

  • another class of 81' song...thanks for posting and a ride in Professor Peabodys' way back machine. Take care TDC...miss you

  • Wow no one posted! Anyway , this song and " Break it to me gently" were two of

my favorite songs at the time. Thanks to

    whoever posted this video.

  • Forgot how great this was, and how lovely Juice was/is.

  • What a doll. I love hearing these 80`s songs that I used to cruise to. Memories like this always puts a smile on my face.

    Thanks for posting. 5 *****`s.

  • this song still give me goose bumps today as it did back then

  • JUICE NEWTON IS THE BEST.

  • Great song thanks for posting.

  • This version is so much more powerful and dramatic than those of previous artists.

  • @dragknuckle they werent previous. she wrote it.

  • @electroshokk909

She sang the heck out of it, but she didn't write it. Chip Taylor wrote it in 1967.

  • I love love love this song!!!

  • Yep....Great song written by the fantastic Chip Taylor.....that by the way also wrote 'Wild Thing' and IS Angelina Jolie's Uncle.

  • awsome song

  • Comment removed

  • I love her hair!

  • I've always thought this song does a very good job of walking the line between dramatic and melodramatic. The video would too if it didn't have those goofy bedroom scenes in it. She looks a lot better singing in the studio than in the house. I've heard she's a cousin or sister to Laraine Newman of Saturday Night Live fame. Juice looks a lot like her in this video.

  • i DO BELEIVE Juice is Paulette Carlsons split-apart. both great strong voices thaT SING, AND NOT sCREAM LIKE ON aMERICAN iDOL.

  • Best version ever!!

  • i definitely like this version more than the original

  • awesome

  • I love you tube !!! It's so great being able to fine all these older song's I have some playlist Thank's so much

  • 28 yrs and I never get tired of listening to this beautiful song! :)

  • I think Tori Amos was a fan.

  • Wouldn't be surprised. At all

  • Beautiful voice!

  • I have seen her perform this live like four times now. Once was competing with a tractor pull out a county fair. The woman is incredible. She was able to be heard over top of the revving tractor engines and she didn't cop prima donna attitude about it, she just joked about having chili to eat before the performance. FAN - Fing - TASTIC!!!!!!

  • love......................

  • Beautiful woman.

  • juice.........juice......I loved you when I was a teenager

  • I loved this song too, I was 13 back then...

  • This song is soooooo 70's. But was done in the 80's. Weird.

  • Look at her hair, in particular her BANGS. This gives it away that it's the 80's - LOL.

  • Actually this song was originally done in the 60's by Merrilee Rush. Juice's version is a cover.

  • Amazing song great memories thanks

  • 0:51 - 1:02 is CREEPY!!!!!!

  • great song she is hotttttttttttttttttttttttttt

  • After listening to Juice and some other artists of the 80s forgot how much I really liked her especially this song

  • Adoro!

  • Having come of age during the 80s, I've always enjoyed Juice's music. Loved Marilee Rush's original version as well, but Newton squeezes even more juice from it:)--

  • Always a favorite song! I remeber buying the 45 of this song and I like Juice -my fave song of her's is 'The Sweetest Thing", but the best version of "Angel" still is Merilee Rush & the Turnabouts original from the 60s! Accept no substitutes!

  • OMG!! I totally forgot about this song. Loved it as a kid and still do. Saw her and her son not to long ago in San Diego at the polo games. Her son was VERY polite. She still looks GREAT!

  • Here is sombody that has an incredible voice and great songs and just didn't get enough props. She has one of the best voices - one of my favorites for sure.

  • Saw her in Germany, after the 1 desert storm it was just great she and the show was 10+

Thanks you loved the show juice.

  • this song is about a hooker you know

  • dude it is about so much more than a "hooker."

  • Yes..but its what made me want to be a hooker!!! now thats inspiration

  • I have seen her perform this about 3 yrs ago. In person, it will make the hair stand up in your neck. I give her a 10 or A+ the Doug man has spoken.. Doug E O myspace

  • This is the best song from Juice Newton

  • You should see what she looks like today. She is a stunningly beauty woman.

  • I can get as lost in her version of this as I cou8ld in her beauth - especially the

    1960's hair-do

  • Ah, there has never been a song so beautiful about some young girl getting screwed and left to become a one night stand. She doesn't seem to mind either as long as you call her "angel". I can do that.

  • Lovely!

  • I love this song it is a beautiful song.

  • 0:18 ...she looks possessed. but love this song :) and juice newton :))

  • hahahahahaha she does look possessed there!

  • Amanda of the morning, baby! XD

    Love choir. ^_^

  • buen video hace recordar a una gran exponente de la musica country

  • this would be a perfect American Idol song for a country singer

  • Her remake is just as sensual as the original by Merrillee Rush

  • Lord, what a beautiful woman....

  • agreed

  • damn right!

  • Is Juice Newton still on tour?

  • She has a beautiful voice but those bangs gotta go!

  • Wrong. The song was written by Chip something and originally recorded by Evie Sands in the late 60s

  • Comment removed

  • I believe it was Chip Taylor.

  • Is that the late Keith Whitley on guitar?

  • No that's Juice's business partner Otha Young.

  • oh, anice voice.

  • If you like Juice Newton, then check out Brooke White she is awesome!

  • yeah they are quite similar.

  • I love this woman beautiful girl and beautiful voice. One night stands songs never sounded so good

  • lmao cobains!!!

  • beautiful version by a great singer.

  • Merrilee Rush is the original and is the best version

  • this is the best version!

  • redid this song in 88 , rocked. in europe. will post soon. major success

  • i so want this played at my funeral

  • You want a song about asking for dignity after casual sex played at your funeral?

  • this song could be interpreted many ways. even if thats its original meaning, it doesnt have to always mean that and definitely wont mean the same thing to all people...

  • lol thanks for the laugh

  • Happy Birthday Juice Newton (1/18)!!!

  • Juicess version is better than most, but for me, the best and one of the original versions from 1967 is Billie Davis. Just listened again to Kelly Garrett, Melissa O'Neil, Leanne Moore, Jill Johnson, Skeeter Davis, Bonnie Tyler and The Pretenders. Dont think they better Billie Davis. Ignore the modern video which we didnt have in the 60s and just listen. But then I was 18 and may not be totally impartial!!
