Oh my goodness you are amazing! i felt like you were talking to me personally, I'm only 24 and going to college. it sucks so bad because i have very thick coarse facial hair just like you said you do. Of course its due to hormonal changes, i'm so embarassed by it, i always keep my hair down so no one will be able to see it and also keep my head down, which makes me upset because i always look at women that dont have facial hair and just wish i could be free from this embarassing hair.
I'm glad that I found this vid. I have the chin/neck hair. It is due to a production of testorone or PCOS. (poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome which I have) Here is a easier way to pluck your chin and under your neck...you have to steam your face or do it just coming out of the shower. The pores are open. No it's not easy and then the dark spots are not good. I hope that you find something to help you.
Girl I totally feel your pain. If you could see some of my High School pics, you'd see how hairy I was. Girrrrrlllll. Your loved ones are correct: It doesn't take away from your womanhood!! And yes, shaving it only makes it thicker & grow back quicker. The best thing I found that works for me is tweezing & using Nair Naturally Smooth Warm Sugar Wax with Peach & Melon Extracts. This is best to use AFTER tweezing, as a clean-up to catch leftover hairs. Try it. Then use Shea butter for dark spots.
There is new laser technology available for black skin, I suggest you check with your dermatologist for recommendation. There is no reason for you to continue to struggle with this. All the best to you.
oh i forgot my husband got mad at me once and said i was ugly and i said how am i ugly because i thought he was saying ugly on the inside, no he said "the hair on your face the bumps the scarring(from plucking) its ugly". this was said about 5 years ago and i replay that moment vivdly everyday in my mind when i look in the mirror.and yes im still with him.
@drksweetness for scarring try African Queen Super strength beauty cream apply to Scarring ? Murad (when you call Murad customer service tell them your problem ex:ingrown hair folicles and bumps.

oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh my gosh i am in the same boat it is ridculous. i always say i would trade in a toe for a smooth face. im like close to tears typing this mssg. i HATE it. i still hold my hand over my mouth when i meet new people. my worst nightmare is to be in the hosp. unconcious or unable to move and people visiting me and seeing the hair on my face in its original state.awwwwww!
I am 17 and I am struggling with my facial hair, too. I'd like to say I am rather pretty, but I feel like my upper lip hair is gross and unfeminine. I have been using creams and waxes for years, but every time I use something, it only works a few times, maybe, then not at all. I had a fast acting cream of 3 minutes MAX and had it on for 20 and have NO hair removed. I have fine hair, but it's resilient. I've started going into a salon, but now there is still hair and it grows again before a week.
Find a good esthetician that can give you a proper wax then it will slowly stop growing back. Shaving does seem to make it worse. If you shave do not use a man's razor it will grow back triple. Depilitories (nair) are not to be used on the face unless it is the face kind.
vaniqua dot com...it does not get rid of the hair permanetly but it slows the process so you do not have to get a service every day or week for some people..It is expensive i think almost 100$ but worth checking into and seeing if ur insurance covers it or the doctor can write a perscription
I am a estatician and there are A LOT of people who suffer from this as well as hair on the chest and around the nipples and stomach...the claim is these women have more hormones then they should..at any cost I do understand and it does sux when people point it out. I would say to you that waxing is the best bec it exfoliates the skin so u do not get dark marks or dark spots under ur chin..also they should b using sensative wax for those parts of the body..there is also a new product out called
i have been dealing with this exact same thing for about 15 yrs and it has gotten progressively worse over the yrs. I have to shave about every other day. My skin has darkened due to the friction f using razors. I want to get laser treatments too but im afraid of the scarring. I feel the exact same way you to about ppl touching my face. If there was ANYTHING about myself that i could change...it would be to a smoothe hairless face.....i totally relate!!
I am 22, I have been dealing with this for the longest. I don't let my boyfriend touch my face, I don't know what to do. @jonnell0889 I know what you mean! My sideburns were like that. I try everything, shaving, tweezing, now my jawline is dark. This lady touched my face once and said, "Yes, my daughter has a beard like you." I thought I was just going to die at that moment. It's like an enemy that never leaves me alone

@pellison1986 actually i have recently found a small device that i absolutely LOVE. its called Emjoi. i will be doing a vid soon and will update you on how it works and how it has been working for me.
@Napisha09 Also that embarrassing Korean waxing salon experience you've had, Ive encounter the same thing! The korean lady went out to the waiting room where other customers waited and announced "I'm going to be awhile i got full face in back!" i let her finished her job which she did great and told her privately "What you just did was very unprofessional if you were a DR you would have broke " The HIPPA Law". dont ever do this to me or anyone again! i never went back.
I have the same problem! i didn't really notice mines until i was in the 7th grade when everybody started pointing it out! i didn't notice it until my 8th and 9th grade year and i didn't know what to do about it because i didn't want to shave it. but...i broke down and did it because i couldn't handle the criticism from high school. i'm a senior in high school about to graduate and i have been searching for everything to try to get rid of the darkness from hair under the skin. i understand :(
I can really relate! The older I get, the worse my issue is getting! I don't mind the light moustache so much (LOL)... it's the BEARD that I can't stand! I even feel like I don't want people getting too close to me because I'm so uncomfortable about it. God forbid I dont have the time to fight with it and it's starting to REALLY be noticeable! I've tried it all too--Nair, shaving, waxing, threading, so I feel your pain. Like you said, people who don't deal with this problem, dont understand.
I have the same exact problem and from watching this video I literally was in tears because this is definitely not easy to deal with. I am 23 and I have dealt with facial hair since I was in the 6th grade. I have tried everything under the sun and nothing work. I just shave it off everyday and put tend skin solution and witch hazel on my face and try my best to cover it with make up:-( Hopefully we all will find a solution that really work...I wish all you beautiful ladies well:-)
the problem with plucking is i just had my first baby and who has time to pluck everyday! so i have been shaving here and there. i wish all the best for you. i hope something comes out that is helpful. has anyone heard of VANIQA? does that work? i have been thinking about trying it.
omg! girl!!!! you are not alone! i am 33 and have damn near the exact same story as you. the trauma that shaving and female facial hair causes is a silent one. i commend you on your video and sharing. my mustache and chin hair are BLACK. i've tried the make up but was harrassed, people thought i was a man! it was a aweful time for me. do not get the laser! i tried it. they wanted me to bleach my skin, and i am already light. im going to try the threading. ive never tried that. im plucking now)8
I love this video.. I'm 20 & I noticed hair around 15/16 . I have some slight dark spots & bumps from tweezing & nair but I use cocoa butter & a little bit of lightening creme to the dark spots..hope you find something that helps.
@SammehIsTehSeckz & even 2 session of laser hair removal,it didnt scar me but my skin became inflamed & swollen. the results only seemed to last (hair thinning, less promiment ) for about a month.
Have you ever heard of a product called Skin tight? i mean its amazing. it just skips my skin so much smoother even though it for shaving and i shave. it just makes the hair behave so much better/
I'm 20 years' old and I suffer from PCOS and Endometrosis. I have hair on the sides' of my face and on my chin. I have to shave like a man and I'm a girl. I feel like everyone is staring at my chin and at my hair. My younger cousins' do not understand and make remarks about it. I correct them and laugh it off. But it is very hard. I don't let my fiance touch my skin. I don't like when people see my chin, so I cover the hair up with loads of foundation. Keep your head up, you're gorgeous, love.
I tried Laser removal for two years... for NOTHING. It didn't work. It "cleared up" the ingrowns (I din't know if the laser did it or the shaving they had me do every day!) I never put a razor to my face until I started those laser treatments. Shaving every day like a dude. :-( This was NOT part of the plan. NOW I take the time to pluck them out. I have a facial cleaning regimen I do twice a day (Dove soap and Astringent. Shea butter to kill the ash)- that's it! Good luck my bearded beauties!
i have the same issue, tried all the stuff you mentioned, i did laser three or four times and numerous electrolysis. Nothing worked. Instead..i got shigles and am not sure if it had anything to do with the laser. So i stopped laser now am shaving. Shaving makes me have ingrown hair...so right now am suffering.
So tired of this struggle...my skin has suffered horribly with shaving facial hair. I've had no guidance on how to manage or do away with it. I've been shaving it for about 15 years now and the dark spots are horrible...I have to shave every single day like I'm a dude. This one issue has successfully killed my self-esteem. My friends are kind enough not to mention it but if I can see it I know the world does...I'm gonna try threading it and see if it helps..thanx for sharing.
I have the same problem, i'm 18 years old. I have hair on my cheeks, chin & upperlip. I've been struggling it for 5 years now & it's driving me crazy. I hate when people tease me about it saying " You have 5 o clock shadow" or " you need a shape up". It sucks really bad, & i've been considering using the same hair removal cream that i use for my upper lip & chin, on my cheeks but i'm scared it'll grow back thicker & darker.
I'm glad i found this video, you're such a strong woman. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your heart about this! I have struggled with this issue since I was 14 years old and I am 28 now. My self confidence took some serious blows along the way, but praise God. I'm here now and learning to love myself more and more every day! My husband thinks I'm a little hottie too; so that helps a bit : ). We have to connect outside of this YT world. I have so many questions for you! Peace out and God Bless!
OMG r u my twin in sufferage? lol. exact same story, especially re: guys touching my chin or face. that is a No No, speaking of which, i watched blogs that say that actually works well with facial hair. Electrolisis works from what I have witnessed from men to women gender change. Very painful but permanant. thank you and goodluck.
ND YAG laser is the solution for black people. I had chin hair too. I am FRENCH dark skin like you. It worked, got 1 free trial, then paid about 70 dollars 2 months later for the 1st treatment. So total of 2 treatments. Now i am a free woman, so in December 2011 i am going for bikini and armpits. The only thing is there should be an anesthesia for sensitive places like bikini and armpits...lol
CENTRE LASER DU MARAIS ( rue du Grenier ST_LAZARE, metro RAMBUTEAU).
THANK YOU!!! I'm 42 and have dealt with this for 20 years. In the last 3 years it has gotten worse though due to Lupus. Im gonna start Vaniqua and hope it works. The hair texture is so coarse and comes in GRAY!!! I have a ton of gray hair on my head now..I get so embarrassed. I don't want anyone to hug me.
OMG! I have the same exact story! It does mess with your self esteem. The Nair story is mine too. I can't afford waxing even if I could tolerate the pain. The same thing happened to me when I got pregnant. I literaly thought something was wrong with me. When I say I've used everything I've used everything.Lately I've been using Magic Shave Powder in the black can. My male friend knows about "some of my pain". He jokes with me and says that his grandma had a beard, trying to make me feel better.
OMG OMG OMG....IM SO GLAD THAT IVE FOUND THIS VIDEO BECAUSE IM FACING THE SAME ISSUE BUT HAVEN'T USE THREADING BEFORE SO I MIGHT JUST TRY IT AND SEE HOW IT WORKS FOR ME.UNDER MY CHIN IS THE WORST IF I WOULD GO 2 DAYS WITHOUT SHAVING!! SAD SO SAD AND MY FACIAL HAIR DIDN'T START UNTIL I GOT ON BIRTH CONTROL IN 1995.THANK YOU FOR POSTING AND BEING TRUTHFUL ABOUT THIS
Hey lady thanks for sharing your story. I am a young blk female with the same problem. Mines started growing at 16 and I used nair. The nair left me with nasty black scars under my neck. I am 28 now and although the scars are lighter they are still there. Now I use a electric razor but it doesn't last long enough and it still bothers my skin. Laser is expensive and I am worried about further scarring. I had image issues for years. Still dealing with it now but my husband loves me anyway.
I have the same issue try Vaniqua cream in conjunction with the threading. It's prescription only but I have had some success with the cream in conjunction with laser hair removal. I also recommend seeing your doctor about PCOS I suffer from it and it contributes to so many health issues. Your beautiful and so awesome for sharing your story.
thank you so much for sharing your story, i too have struggled with my facial hair since high school and have tried everything i could. also the information for threading was very helpful b/c this was one of the next steps i was thinking of going to besides electrolysis. but remain strong b/c u are not the only one who feels like this and going through this struggle.
Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! I cried watching this because you are telling my story. I have tried everything except threading and laser and walking with my head down is a norm. There are days I don't feel like a woman because I strugle with my facial hair and have gone natural and it's still on the shorter side. I applaud you have being so open and shedding some light on this subject. May God richly bless you.
this was a good vid for me i didnt start growing facial hair on my chin till i had my 1st child and starting taking birth control i always had a lil mustache which i never mess wit but that chin hair makes me sick i have to get rid of it every 2 wks
Have you considered electrolysis? I have a few MTF friends who have amazing results with it and am considering it myself since it's more permanent than laser and a little cheaper.
I understand your struggle. I have hair growing on my chin, cheeks, and a little under my nose. It makes me very self conscious and like you I never liked anyone touching my face for fear of being ridiculed. Ive tried shaving, nair, and I currently use a epilator. Which hurts a lot but I dont have to shave for 2-3 weeks, the hair grows back very slowly and its not as thick as when I shave. I want to venture into waxing soon and see how that works. The "Worlds" beauty is not Ideal =o)
DOC: Cocoa Butter 3 drams, Calomel 2 grains, Epsom Salts 20 grains. Mix by mortise&pestle, then rub gently in the areas where there are the disturbances from superfluous hair; after leaving it on for 15-20 minutes rub off – it will remove hair without injury 2 the body. To be sure, mercury is in the calomel & its a poison, but with this combination & in this quantity there is not sufficient for a body to absorb enough to become detrimental. Follow by Genuine Black&White Cream. Apply until gone!
Have you had hormone levels done? Maybe thats the answer. Because if it is hormonal then maybe they can give you something to supperss the production of that hormone. my heart goes out to you it si very difficult going through something that you haave no control over. I wear a size 13 womens shoe. If I don't order them or go to Avenue I have to shop the mens section. I to was picked on as a kid. The boys would get on the back of a truck and ride pass my house and call me big foot / missing link.
Thanks for sharing your struggle ...its touching. Im starting to get a little facial hair now, But the hair is not as dark. I tried that sand paper thing you mention and the same thing happened to me. I remember NADs that was useless.
I heard laser is not good for black skins. So Im glad your co worker warned you not to do it.
@ebonydivine1 Most lasers don't work on our skin and I am SHOCKED they lasered your coworker. Dermatologists are supposed to turn a woman down if their skin is close in color to their hair unless they have the new laser that works on black skin.
That is so crazy that you brought this up. I recently started experiencing hair on my cheeks. And I didn't notice it until I started wearing powder foundation...it was concealed when I wore a full coverage matte foundation..but with the powder the hairs show right through. I have been considering getting it threaded but im scared it'll grow back more....I get my lip waxed every two weeks as well.
NO SHE DID NOT!! Yeah that was crazy! My suggestion, if you haven't alrdy tried this, is to get like a mans extra close battery operated razor & try because it is made to shave rough to cutt hair. also, before shaving, take some witch hazel & cotton ball & coat the area before & after & see if that cuts the irritation. Also, instead of witch hazel u can use vaseline. it coats the hair & the razor will shave the hair & the vaseline off. Hope it helps. Wish u were closer cause I could wax it!
@JAHLICIA shaving of any kind blunts the tip of the hair and makes it grow in thicker...i'll stick to threading, it hurts like hell, but it gets all the hairs and it last about two and a half weeks
Girl! You done made me cry! I feel TERRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the fact that you were candid and honest about your experience and while your grandmother was right, you are beautiful, I def can understand how tough it is. I grow lil hairs under my chin too and I used to shave it but it gave razor bumps so what has worked for me for yrs is tweezing! I sit there and pluck each one but it is time consuming like a mofo! Nair inflamed my skin too, One time it burned all the skin off my brows.
@JAHLICIA don't feel terrible! U honestly have never offended me. I just really wanted to explain y i'm so touchy when people draw attention to it in way that is embarassing to me! Had a girl at work was like," your make up is cute but you need to do something with this" And she effin touched my effin chin! I was livid!
I really do appreciate you sharing this And being honest about it. I've been dealing with chin hair since I was a teenager and went on the pill. That was my side effect. Even now that I've been off of them for years, I still grow a beard. I used to pluck, and that would cause ingrown hairs. So now I use Veet. It seems to work better than Nair for me. But again, thank u for sharing so honestly!!
Aww girl, bless your heart! You are such a strong woman! Your grandmother is right though, you ARE beautiful in spite of! :) I have the upmost respect for you! Sharing something that is so touchy with us! Big hugs to you lady! :) and middle finger to the assholes who have hurt your feelings!
@c0ilykins Thanks so much! I just wanted to put out a different perspective from a person who does struggle with facial hair and how it effects the way you view youself and how others view you! Very very touchy subject, you can tell by the way my voice quivers through the entire vid.
@drksweetness omg! I do believe that would have killed me a little.

Good luck

May God richly bless you.

this was a good vid for me i didnt start growing facial hair on my chin till i had my 1st child and starting taking birth control i always had a lil mustache which i never mess wit but that chin hair makes me sick i have to get rid of it every 2 wks
veej100 10 months ago
Have you considered electrolysis? I have a few MTF friends who have amazing results with it and am considering it myself since it's more permanent than laser and a little cheaper.
quotidianlight 10 months ago

@MsPausha Yeah, it sounds like PCOS which is a huge medical problem in women and especially black women. My hear just breaks watching this video.

You are beautiful and don't think otherwise
ebonydivine1 10 months ago

MittBritt20 10 months ago
@MittBritt20 i've found that threading keeps the hair off longer and it doesnt change the texture of the hair itself unlike shaving!!
Napisha09 10 months ago
NO SHE DID NOT!! Yeah that was crazy! My suggestion, if you haven't alrdy tried this, is to get like a mans extra close battery operated razor & try because it is made to shave rough to cutt hair. also, before shaving, take some witch hazel & cotton ball & coat the area before & after & see if that cuts the irritation. Also, instead of witch hazel u can use vaseline. it coats the hair & the razor will shave the hair & the vaseline off. Hope it helps. Wish u were closer cause I could wax it!
JAHLICIA 10 months ago
@JAHLICIA shaving of any kind blunts the tip of the hair and makes it grow in thicker...i'll stick to threading, it hurts like hell, but it gets all the hairs and it last about two and a half weeks
Napisha09 10 months ago
JAHLICIA 10 months ago
@JAHLICIA don't feel terrible! U honestly have never offended me. I just really wanted to explain y i'm so touchy when people draw attention to it in way that is embarassing to me! Had a girl at work was like," your make up is cute but you need to do something with this" And she effin touched my effin chin! I was livid!

Hey Lady! Thanks for sharing your story with us...may you always be blessed and realize your true beauty :-)
mylaylay18 10 months ago
I really do appreciate you sharing this And being honest about it. I've been dealing with chin hair since I was a teenager and went on the pill. That was my side effect. Even now that I've been off of them for years, I still grow a beard. I used to pluck, and that would cause ingrown hairs. So now I use Veet. It seems to work better than Nair for me. But again, thank u for sharing so honestly!!

@c0ilykins Thanks so much! I just wanted to put out a different perspective from a person who does struggle with facial hair and how it effects the way you view youself and how others view you! Very very touchy subject, you can tell by the way my voice quivers through the entire vid.
