Judge Gray is absolutely right. When you illegalize something such as a drug, it causes the value of that object/drug to skyrocket, and it creates a HUGE profit incentive that simply can't be ignored. Someone WILL try to fill this demand and capitalize on the opportunity. It's like if you hold a pile of jello in your hand, and you squeeze it trying to get a tighter grip on it, and it falls out of your hand completely.
Maybe we should also legalize....... crack meth heroin contract killings child prostitution hitmen all guns with no restrictions for everyone including criminals ect those things are also on the "black market"! Why should prohibition of those things be any different?
I completely agree with this guy..... im not completetely convinced that by legalising marijuana dealers would stop selling the more powerfull stuff as he said, but the current policy is not working and, true, better to choose betwen taking or not taking drugs than being a victim of violence want it or not.
I am convinced, the reason being that if taxed and regulated marijuana is sold legally in shops, it will be a hell of a lot cheaper, thus stopping users from buying from the black market as its more expensive, therefore putting marijuana dealers out of business, full stop. Do you agree?
Well if you look at the black market, your more likely to move onto harder drugs if your dealer is offering it to you, all they want is the money, they couldn't give a shit about the hazards involved. So if it was legalized, I agree that less of this would occur, whilst not solving the whole problem, your definitely solving a major part of the gateway theory. Marijuana users will never have contact with harder drugs, unless wanting to. I would never move on to any other drug, ever.
@Jkilaita I agree, there are many dealers who wouldn't sell hard drugs, but then again, many do. And this was the point I was making, for those who do also sell hard drugs (I know a few) will offer them at almost any chance, more so if the marijuana wasn't available at present. This creates the black market AND the gateway theory, whereas if marijuana was legalized there would be no need for these people, thus not turning profit therefore having to give up and get a job. Win Win.
@buddaluver420 Exactly dude, I think after a few years of legalization, It'll kinda be handled like Tobacco, imagine 28g of Afghan Kush for £30. Id cum in my pants.
