Excellent seems a rather weak word but if you use it with Brilliant you will well understand the word Fantastic you are a Queen of the keyboard Benita there is no "Could do better" with your playing choice or style it just cannot be bettered.
Virtuoso! This is one of the best renditions I've heart. Congratulations on a wonderful performance of one of the greatest pieces of organ music. Please post more organ music, just as many as your piano! You're piano is just as wonderful as your organ playing.
Listening to this video lets me feel the obvious joy that you felt when you played it. Although I should be on my way to downtown, I will sit a little bit on the piano and play my envy away:)
the Organ, the emperor of intruments...and charles-Marie widor, that almost forgotten master from that wonderful school of Franck..and,in our most near days,maître Olivier Messiaen...
WOW - that was incredible. I'm learning that piece too and find the last page - page 10 in my edition - to be the hardest. Maybe it's the 'sempre staccato' that finally gets to me near the end (as my arms fall off). I found the pedal part to be OK - mostly octaves - even though you use almost the whole pedalboard (all but the top F# and G).
Thanks for the inspiration to keep plugging away at this, Benita! 5-stars+. It sounds like that organ, too, breathes fire from the pedal reeds.
Ok, now I'm baffled. What are those three foot pedals for? And all those knobs? The loud-soft changes in this piece make it entertaining to listen to. Excellent organ playing.
On our pipe organ (which is quite similar), the right-most pedal is the crescendo pedal. At it's pressed, more and more stops are added - making a louder and thicker sound. The other two pedals control louvres - sort of like large venetian blinds which cover different divisions of the organ -like the swell or choir divisions (again, on our organ). The stops on the wings of the organ each control a rank of pipes each with a characteristic sound. The silver toe studs control combinations of pipes.
EstebanChurches- Those 3 pedals are crescendo pedals for different manuals. The knobs are pistons. When the hands are too busy to change registrations, they can be pre-set, and accessed by a foot! Thanks for visiting and appreciating!
Simply amazing. I had to take a double take just to make sure I get to see one of my favorite organ pieces performed by you! Thank you for treating us another great organ video, and I look forward for more! :)
By the way, you look mighty fashionable in your attire in this performance (from head to toe)! ;D
Super duper Benita, I didn't realize you were so accomplished on the organ!

great. Who is the composer? thx.
freddyrabbitfoot 3 years ago
freddyrabbitfoot- The composer is Charles-Marie Widor. It is the Toccata from Symphony No.5.

Thank You.
It sounds (for me) a little bit like Cesar Franck and/or Max Reger. But I'm not sure.
A new Experience! thx.
