hey, I'm actually looking at this kit right now and was wondering what the specifications of the kit you purchased are. i want white-blue low beams with yellow fogs
great video man! ive got the same car and have been debating doing xenons i think your video has sold me on them. im a novice, but from what i can tell its all plug and play right? no cutting and whatnot? keep it up man ill definitely be looking for more of your customization videos :)
@Ramirezc0 Thank you! Yeah the kit I got was completely plug and play. Worked perfectly. Be careful who you buy it from because on the MSF forums some of the guys got cheap kits that you had to do some extra steps. Also- this is for the 35w kit. I think the 55w might need the extra harness because of the wattage. Not 100% sure.
@rvshark Thanks =) Yeah it's definitely blueish but very mild. It must not be too blue or I would have been pulled over since it's been almost a year with them! If I had to do it over again I probably would have gotten 5000k.
@Aetherfury So you said that you would go for 5k 'cuz it produces less blue-ish color than 6k? I'm debating either to get 5k or 6k for my Pilot. Let me know more details on your 6k exp.
@mrqb1987 4300K = stock xenon (brightest, most lumens, pure white) ... 6000K = slight tint of blue but produce less lumens.....5000K is just somewhere in the middle.
@shawn8l2 Haha I guess you haven't seen my other videos ;) that's kind of the point. Wait until I finish my epic "Windshield Washer Fluid Installation" video haha
also I know that in 2003, the celica GTS (what I have) began coming with only HID lights from the factory but I don't know if those have projector beams still. Thanks for the help.
I have a few questions for you. Are the factory low beams on your car the projector style? if so, did you have any fitment issues with the HID bulb? also did you notice any kind of beam-fragmentation with the HID kit?
I put some on my 94 celica and they work great but i've got a 2000 celica now which has projector beams. I've heard that projectors and HID's don't work well together, is this what you experienced? I am mainly looking for best overall lighting, not just to have blue headlights
going to pick some up or my 3 soon, should i go with 4500k or 5000k. I think 6k will have to much blue u think 5k or 4500k will be the better white light?
@BizzloJoyish The camera is a Canon Vixia HF20 and it's tiny but does a great job. I'm not sure about the lights fitting the Mazda3 s but don't you already have hid headlights on the s model? If not, find out what bulb your low beams use (speed3 uses H11) and then get that version
If I run them for a long period of time, everything is still cold (headlight housing- ballasts etc) so I don't think they generate any more heat. They are stock wattage (35w) just make sure not to get the 55w kit if you are worried about the heat.
Super easy to install. 15-30 minutes. As with all aftermarket parts, I think if something went wrong and it messed up my headlight, the headlight would not be covered. You should ask your service manager if you are concerned.
I thought there must be something wrong with them because they were so cheap too. Until I installed it, now I can't figure out why other companies can charge so much more =)
@eckojuice DDM makes and sell very large quantities of these kits to where they can sell there kits cheaper. DDM has a lot of backorders on a lot of their kits because of there very high demand.
Here in Canada the 2010 MPS3 comes standard with low/hi beam HID. In fact it comes fully loaded with leather seats, premium BOSE audio, bluetooth, push button start, smart keyless...etc.
Actually a lot of the guys mount it to the fuse box, really not a big deal. I've been running it since october with no problems.
The HACK part is where I put the other side, just jammed into the side of the engine bay hahah. I was embarassed when I did it, but I don't really care now ;) No one sees my engine bay, just the headlights.
@Red08Speed3 yeah I never updated the video to show the new location since I was too lazy to re-edit it. They are under the headlights now as someone on the forums recommended.
So earlier you thought it was the perfect shade of blue. Now its maybe too blue? Would you still take it over 5k hids. I figure the effect on your ability to see the road ahead probably isnt too much different between 5k and 6k. Does it give everything a slight blue tint?
No I still think it's perfect for looks, but yeah- sometimes I see it reflected and think I'm going to get pulled over =) I haven't installed the 5k so I can't speak for it, but I have heard its like 3400 lumens and the 6k kit is 3200 so it's supposed to be really close. It actually looks very white on the road almost no blue, but the reflections from street signs and from other people's cars look very blue.
Ok, good to hear it looks white on the road. I doubt you'll get pulled over, this car looks like it should come from the factory with hids anyways. My Altima SER has hids in reflector housings instead of projector housings. They are factory so are white but they are blinding and look aftermarket cause of the reflectors. People flash their brights at me pretty often lol
Thanks! Those are 6000's and it is for SURE the "most blue" I would ever go on a street driven car. I love the way they look, but they are borderline too blue
heyy i think i know you from mazda3 forums? i also own a 2010 black speed3 tech... i need too know what bubs does the 2010 speed3 hold too install my hids?
The 2010 only comes in a "sport" model that doesn't include HIDs or LED tail lights. The tech package just has Nav, Keyless & Bose. It wasn't a big deal for me since I don't care about the tail lights and I knew I would eventually get aftermarket HID. I do think they should have made a "GT" trim though. Search Google for "xenon expert ddm kit sale" and you will get a link for a sale for $70 instead of $150
Thanks alot, appreciate it! Maybe GTs will be release next year. Rumors are that maybe a 2.5 will replace the 2.3, who knows. Last question, cut off line remains the same wheather it's HID or not right. Anyways, awsome video of yours:)
35w to keep it more "stock", plus I drive mostly in the city at night and I don't want to blind everyone. The 55w kits I have seen are SUPER bright. The 35w is a huge increase in light over stock and was plenty for me.
Those look great and at a very reasonable cost. Did you get the 35w or 55w and what size bulbs. Also did you need to order anything else from their site other than the basic HID kit. Thanks and keep posting the videos your speed is coming along nicely.
Thanks! I got the 35w kit in H11 (both low beams and fogs are H11 on the 2010) and I just ordered the "kit sale" from XenonExpert and it was $90 including shipping.
btw the music makes me want to play skyrim
