    but in french we have l'article partitif,

    Je bois du thé...

    je bois du café de la bière

    I don't really want to be precise on the quantity.

    but I go to the restaurant, the quantity is already setteled by the cook. one plat of pasta...5 dollars...the quantity is some how precise..

    je mange un steak frites (plat)  une glace...
