It took me a VERY long time, but finally I managed to beat this level with Mouth of Sauron and Shagrat...ON HARD!!! It's freaking impossible unless you have a combination of both luck and strategic smarts.

Saruman is the easiest (humongous CP, Swarm of Crebain on Legolas and other heroes) with Shagrat or Ugluk as the secondary. I managed to beat the level using Mouth of Sauron on Hard with Shagrat, but it is nearly impossible (4 or 5 tries).
@mouthofsauron328 so u used saruman? dag lol, i made it all the way to the end with the mouth and im kinda hesistant to start over again after it took me so long to get to that point, but if what your saying is true, then pehaps imleft with no choice but to start over

damn i used to be a good tacticans but i hate this level.....i just cant survive it.....maybe i just need to level up legolas becous i never used a hero for long....have no favorite....i suck.... and somehow army of the dead not help here....

Gimli sux for this mission. My favourite hero set-up is:
-Elrond (for skills)
-Eowyn (Shieldmaiden and massive spirit points)
-Boromir (Horn of gondor)/Legolas (Sniping purposes)

mine is a little different
- aragorn : for curse of dead
- Eowyn : spirit points
- Legolas : for sniping Mouth of Sauron

You can think up a lot of strategies for this mission. For example:
-Eomer for offense (he must have a Standard of Rohan, otherwise use Theoden, at least more command points and speed)
-Eowyn for Spirits and/or Hero assassination
-Primary:
Aragorn - Inspire/ranged Sweep Attack
Gandalf - Blinding Light and Inspire
Elrond - Keen Eyes/Defensive stance, Hold Fast, occassionally Elven Duress.
