  • its not about the martial art, its about the martial artist

  • This is why I am so glad to see the idea of MMA. It allows you to create your own style specifically tailored to you. As Bruce Lee once said (and I don't think this is a direct quote) use what works discard what doesn't. BJJ has its' weaknesses as displayed here and that is why so many fighters today are multi talented. Very good fight, I think it could have been done without the disrespect from the Muay Thai guy though.

  • This video proves that shitty fighters lose to better trained fighters, nothing more. It's annoying to see BJJ fanboys going around every MMA video saying BJJ is the "best". But it's also very hilarious seeing some muay thai kids doing the same in this video.

News flash kids, there is no "best style" but there are "best fighters". It's the practitioner not the art, a good fighter with great strength, reflex, speed and will power will succeed in any "style" and own whatever "style" there is.

  • @hoshinocrimsonwings There is only situation, physical ability, techniques and knowledge of application, and clear thought. Nothing else matters.

  • @ZomBLord Agreed, YT comments only allow you to write so much. :/

  • @hoshinocrimsonwings well said

  • อืม ตีเข่าเป็น ก้านคอใช้ได้

  • Maybe in the earlier times that people didn't know how to defend takedowns the BJJ guy would've won, not much of the case now.

  • Why is it that when a fighter tries to take a person down by the waist the other fighter never uses this as an opportunity to drive his elbows into the guy's upper/mid-back?

  • @danohrly because it won't do that much damage. If you can time it right, take your knee to their heads when they are coming in....It will either knock them out, or make them think twice

  • @cartersgay525 I thought it was because downward elbows are illegal in mma...? If so, another reason why MMA is unrealistic. U see all these guys hugging their oppenents legs whilst driving them against the edge of the cage...try that outside and get ur spine smashed lol.

  • @MrMeatparty No, you can downward elbow them, just not in the head....Taking an elbow on the little collar bones or shoulder blades hurt like a bitch, but If I'm in a fight and trying for that take down, I'll ignore it. A knee to the nose, that one will register. You are right though, there are rules that better bjj in UFC anyways. MMA is only a demonstration, not a real fight. UFC claims to be a real fight, but it's not because there are things to consider, the curb, or an object.

  • @cartersgay525 I'm primarily a stand up guy, and I fought a lot of wrestlers who tried to take me down, but were no match for some kicks to the face/chest. I will sweep somebody though, and beat their ass....just more efficient hahah

  • @cartersgay525 I would sprawl first, then knee. It's easier to hit them as they wind down than to try and time a strike on a speedily moving target.

Grapplers tend not to react to pain as much while they're shooting in for a takedown. If you can prevent the takedown, better to do that and eliminate the risk instead of going for a gambler's shot with twice the momentum.

  • No match!! Thai all the way

  • the BJJ fighter can strike if he wanted to, the problem is a pure BJJ cant strike well because that is not how they train, they train to take strikers to the ground, not to trade strikes with a striker, so since he was not faster enough and could not time the muay thai fighter he lost, because whether you are a striker or a ground fighter speed and timing is everything.

  • I would have quit after the 1st knee!

  • im thai : muaythai Fight in a war 300 years ago. muaythai fell his will death. So muaythai stand and fight for protect a friend

  • ye dude, time to learn another takedown besides the double leg. Seriously, he didn't try to switch to a single or move up to the clinch position.

  • This is not fair. It would be fair if Thai-Fighter couldn't use grappling skills, only strikes.

  • @Tzanis1234 thai boxing includes grappling

  • @messiiironaldo this is true, and most stand up fighting besides boxing includes some form of grappling, like karate, tae kwon do kung fu etc., which i have done all of above including boxing and kicking boxing

  • @Tzanis1234 how the fuck would that be fair?

  • @RainstormInSpace How to say man? Its not fair if BJJ fighter can't use strikes....Or is it for you?

  • @Tzanis1234 where does it say he couldnt strike? this was an mma fight.

  • @Tzanis1234 The thai fighter did not use grappling "skills", all he did was balance his body like any one would do to avoid getting pulled to the ground, and since he was stronger and had better balance he was able to knee the guy when he grabbed him.

  • Love it when it happens. The BJJ dude had this cocky "i know bjj i cant be beaten" look on his face.

  • @TheBestBoxingGame me too, then the thai figher knocks that cocky look off his face which was my favorite part.

  • this is why you need to be skilled in both grappling and standup and can't just be one or the other as we have seen time and time again in MMA.

  • Black guy always win

  • Dude... if you hold you're chin that high when you engage in ANY fight, you're gonna get knocked the fuck out...

  • That is why there is MMA today

  • Pele was a beast those were some heavy knee's, the other guy had a good chin to take them. Tko in the end Pele was one of the greats and still fighting today.

  • he didnt keep his distance gracies lessons. learn em

  • Regarding the question "is he doing move of what he says he's practicing?" that we ask often on video comments on the tube, i have a question:

Who believes a fighter with a single martial art and doing only the moves from that martial art can win without problem?

If yes, up my comment, if no, down my comment. Pure curiosity

  • @dekipantelija the bjj guy had that fight but rushed inn too hard with no gaurd what so ever, thats y he got jacked up! GRACIE ACADEMY, learn it bjj dude

  • Going into this fight I thought it'd be very interesting to see if the bjj guy would be able to take the muay Thai guy to ground but that muay Thai guy had a FANTASTIC clinch and take down defence, its not part of his style yet the take down attempts didn't even phase him! Fantastic skill, feels good to be a muay Thai fighter today :)

  • @IHitmanAirsoft "going into this fight" stfu.

  • @IceCreamWithGravy wow, necessary, nice to meet you troll, hey did you know, THE INTERNET HATES YOU! how about you stfu, i made a perfectly reasonable and sound comment and you go hating like a childish little 13 year old, well done you.

  • @IceCreamWithGravy I'M ON THE INTERNET I KNOW HOW TO USE A KEYBOARD I HAVE A LOW IQ I'M GOING TO THROW HATE AROUND ON THE INTERNET I LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE GET ANGRY ONE DAY I'LL MAKE THE WRONG PERSON ANGRY AND I'LL DIE

    KTHNXBYE

  • That typical Gracie fighting stance always cracks me up.

  • มวยไทยไม่เต็มสูบ แถ มาแบบนี้เจอของจริงล่วงแต่แรกแล้ว

  • Defense

  • Good takedown defsense

  • shouldn't he be desqualified for hiting the other guy in the back of the head?

  • lol you cant compare mauy thai and bjj. both are very effective in completely different cases

  • anyone who underestimates bjj is fooling himself. anyone who underestimates muay thai is fooling himself. anyone who underestimates the importance of psychological preparedness in combat arts is fooling himself . i think the bjj fighter here had lost the fight before it began - he was psychologically unprepared and lost the capacity to properly utilize his craft. a lesson for all fighters. great vid.

  • BJJ destroyed...Both guys looked evenly matched to

  • Can someone explain to me why he was moving forward like that at :45? Was he taunting the other guy?

  • @Sevv9220 He was mocking his striking method ! Just take a look at the gracie's mma fights back in the days you'll understand

  • @freewaste Thanks

  • the first thing you learn in sambo, thats similar to street self defense, is you never try to be offensive by going head first, arms out, towards an openent on the street. Theres no rules on the street, and if the person knows what to do, your gonna be in alot of trouble.

  • Muay Thai No 1.

  • Mas apanhou igual a um boi ladrão! hauhauhauhauhauahuaua

  • GOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDd

  • just a question vs I have just started BJJ, but does the BJJ fighter learn a separate art to do his striking etc.

  • @tricepsish there isn't typically striking in BJJ....If you would like to incorporate a striking skill into your fighting, I would suggest Muay Thai or straight up boxing.

  • @tricepsish most BJJ clubs will have stand up classes were you learn allot of stand up striking and ways to easly take down standup striking opponents. The fighter in the video over committed and was to confident, muy thai fighters are difficult to shoot on. I would have caged and shielded into a body clinch and then worked from there, a safer and less risky move.

  • There is no "sprawl" in pure Muay Thai just as there is no boxing or kickboxing in pure BJJ. This is an MMA match. Erroneous title.

  • idk if I would describe it so much as an "awesome match" as I would "total slaughter"

  • Why did the winner do that thing with his leg hopping up and down before the fight started. Was he mocking the other guy in some way?

  • @k9m42 Pele wasn't mocking him specifically. He was mocking the awkward BJJ-style stance most fighters adopt in the ring. One arm out, head tilted back, stepping/hopping forward and throwing low kicks.

  • @jamespohh Funny thing was, that was exactly the way the other guy came in

  • @BroomeBlocker4 yup, that's the stereotypical BJJ stand-up guard.

  • @k9m42 yeah because the BJJ fighter is a idiot trying to look a bad guy and blah,blah,blah....was some kind of "im not afraid of you".

  • Title should be: MMA fighter vs. better MMA fighter.

  • once again...there is no better or worst martial art....only better or worst masters

  • That's determination. Most guys are done after the first knee.

  • There is no best style. The best is a combination of styles of Muay Thai & BJJ & Wrestling.

  • if your gonna train in striking its always good to have some basic knowledge if not advanced of grappling

  • Pele knows muay Thai =))

  • i was going to say if it stayed standing a win for muay thai but if he went to the ground jujitsu win

  • lesson number 1 for both fighters... If you really appreciate your life keep your chin down covering your throat and stop being cocky... Other than that both martial arts as every martial art and mma as well has its pros and cons

  • @Cyhaxor you tuck your chin to protect you chin not your throat

  • fASDF

  • nice

  • true cross train because every art has it's limitations

  • That was hella sick.

  • Pele trashed this idiot! Classic!

  • Good takedown defence

  • The title of this video is terribly misleading!!

  • ตอนนจบมันไหว้แบบไทยเราด้วยว่ะ..

  • pele is the BEST FIGHTER!!!!

  • Jose "Pele" Landi-Jons (Muay Thai fighter) is BJJ black belt and ex chute boxe academy fighter so the name of this movie is not accurate

  • @diobrando1989 the bjj guy got beat by pure muay thai, its funny how you bjj guys only like to credit a person victory to bjj, like if someone one and they are a black belt in 5 styles you would say it was because he is a blackbelt in bjj, which is crap, the bjj guys was beating by muay thai strikes, i do all styles, ground too, but i favor my striking styles because that is what i like most for me, so the muay thai fighter used his muay thai strikes to win and beat the bjj figher. its simply

  • Funny how the MT guy was mocking BJJ...like he was saying: "here I'll show you grappling aint as "bad" as you think it is."!

  • @61Marsh That's why you learn both ;) haha.

  • I thought this was going to be Lyoto Machida vs Royce Gracie at first lol :P

  • This fight gives us an idea of what will happen in the Lesnar vs Overeem Fight on December.

  • LOL very funy

  • crap pele is damn good

  • At the beginning I thought this was a parody. One looked like his head was screwed on the wrong way. The other one fooled around like they both belonged in some kind of mental institution. I was wrong. Nice fighting.

  • The striker has learned enough grappling to know how not to end up on the ground. See the way he sprawled at 1:06. Then he controlled the fight where the grappler had no abilites. Point is, cross train and know your apponent.

  • @k9m42 brazilian gayjitsu dudes still do not understand that as they bend over, they are vulnerable, not just to kicks but to getting thrown, or getting their arms hooked and broken.

  • @k9m42 i agree and in my opinion the bjj fighter look like he had no real skills

  • @k9m42 SPRAWL!! I hope sprawling :D

  • The Judo masters are the Best at take downs and how to stop take downs, but the BJJ Black Belts are good at taking down most street fighters or stand up fighters.

  • Let the BJJ guy Learn how to become a good stand up fighter and he would win almost all of the time.

  • @bill06gto let him learn how to take someone down

  • @bill06gto The same could go backwards as well. Pele was a BJJ blackbelt too.

  • Ok guys if you have a BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU Black Belt that trained for over 10 years and you let him train in Muay Thai for a year. Then you take Muay Thai guy that has trained for over 10 years and you let him train in BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU for a year, then you let them fight each other, I think the BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU Black Belt would WIN 99% of the fights.

  • @bill06gto

    I don't get your point?

  • @bill06gto

All i saw was the BJJ guy getting battered by the Muay Thai guy

  • Otra victima del gran Thai el arte de los limbos...!!

  • @ikcjjtt

You said that such a country DOESN'T exist.

    Have you travelled the world?

When was the last time you flew to Europe and Asia to live and work?

Do you even hv a passport? 30% of Americans don't hv passports....and they know everything about every country!!! hahahaha.....how hilarious.

    THAT COUNTRY IS SINGAPORE.

Stop punching the keyboard for info, silly.

Ask the thousands of highly-educated, corporate-world American expats there who LOVE it.

    Ask me.

  • @menzerna1234

    Apologies......typed wrongly.

ONLY 30% of Americans in America have passports (CNN, 2011).

So, the remaining 70% are living under a HUGE, beautifully painted flowerpot that stinks inside.

  • You need martial arts, guns or learn self-defence bcos you live in a low-class dangerous environment.

    SOLUTION:

You just need to live in a HIGH-QUALITY COUNTRY with NO street fights, NO street stabbings and NO Niggers + other low-class imbeciles swarming the streets .

This is the country where everyone has jobs, and too busy and tired from working. Where it's 100% illegal for civilians to own firearms. And where the govt doesn't owe anyone a living.

    Take a guess which country?

  • @menzerna1234 ugh..such a country doesnt exist, and if it did, it certainly isnt big enough for all of us.

  • LOL i love it when grappling dependent guys gets stopped by a crappy sprawl and gets out struck!! I LOVE IT!

  • @ThaiBettas thats a true statement but most martial arts arnt that great. Usually cheep stuff like kick in balls, go for eyes, stuff like that is better

  • @johnomanmo which is stuff you learn as a white belt in any martial art

  • @ThaiBettas hip control is when your opponent is on their back. In between their legs and hold onto their hips with both your arms locked onto their sides and your knees close to their bum. when in this position it is very hard to move the person that in hip control. From this position it is very easy to mount the person and get a submission. I do believe what you say is true that is why i not only do BJJ but MMA Hapkido and taekwondo.

  • @ThaiBettas dude i do BJJ, i was attacked last week by a dickhead while i was running out in the open. I didn't hit this guy at all. If you know anything about BJJ then you will know what hip control is and mounting. I took him to the ground and did that. Not one single punch and managed to get a submission. You obviously do not do BJJ or you have never been in a real self defence situation before.

  • @park0urdude101 well i wouldnt say grappling is useless in self defense, it really depends on where you are and the situation. If you are fighting one guy on some soft grass who doesnt know what he's doing, then u probably can mound and get a submission. But when u live in the USA, and about 20 yrs old, 90% of fights are done with blunt or edged weapons, and 1 vs 1 fighting doesnt happen often.BJJ, muay thai, and those other sport arts are great for the ring, but when u take them out of context-

  • @park0urdude101 be sure to be careful and think outside the box if u dont train for self defense. Because a street fight in the USA is not a MMA match. The ground is the last place you want to be in a fight, and truthfully speaking, a fight is the last place you want to be period. In my city, everyone carries a gun, even the kids.

  • @ikcjjtt Yeah ur right i dont live in the USA i live in Australia.

  • @ikcjjtt

Wow!!.....you said "in my city, everyone carries a gun, even kids".

Your city is certainly a very fucked-up place to live in, and packed with MILLIONS of useless, low-class imbeciles coming from low-quality families.

And with a city like that..........your country is equally as fucked-up too.

I guess your cops must all be useless and stupid........or your country must be SWARMING with MILLIONS of low-class, low-quality violent people.

    Is it Africa LOL!?

  • 0:27 what is that guy looking at ??? he can't be THAT COCKY ???

  • You learn for years how to do take downs from all kinds of attacks, from a real BJJ studio, then you go to work on them from the ground and MAKE him TAP OUT.

  • this is shit

  • ownage

  • Some studios just give out their Black Belts this guy is not a true BJJ Black Belt or he would of broke that guys legs.

  • @bill06gto

Or he would've been ktfo like this guy because he would still have no idea what to do on his feet.

  • haha funny

  • If a bjj guy takes it to the ground its over for any other martial art

  • @johnomanmo not completely true, if you watched any PRIDE fights you would see head stomps and soccer kicks are quite effective lol

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @dukeslaps anything can happen, I'm just replying to Johns comment of him claiming it would be 100% over it if hit the ground... one or both fighters is doesn't matter. anything goes.

  • Pure Muay Thai power!

  • hahhahahahahahaahah

  • wtf? what kind of bjj fighter is he? he should be able to try other takedowns, what retard goes for a muay thai fighters knee?

  • @imz47986

I believe he got punched in the face in the very beginning, so may be from that point on he was not working on tactics, but on surviving...

  • @grozde well yes, of course he was trying to survive by bringing the match to the ground, but after the first knee he should've re-thought his tactics, preferably by working from the muay thai clinch.

  • this guy sucks!

like you send a kid to fight in a ring

  • i love at 1:31 bitch head slap "I saidf no down nigger! down!" haha

  • there was nothing "awsome" about this match

  • @KalloJaLuut the knees are pretty awesome

  • bloody knees..i hate knees. they don't allow a wrestler to operate where he is good at ..

  • This is Muay Thai.

  • Ohhhhh he have big cock. (1.53)

  • Some studios just hand out black belts in bjj this guy is not a real black BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU.

  • clinching with a thai isn't a great idea XD

  • only if the fight started on the floor, expect the jiu jitsu practitioner to utilise his ablities

  • this guy doesnt know BJJ

  • the guy was obviously a shit take down offence and clinch defense

  • @samleahy1 @lokalyokal1

BJJers aren't known for good takedowns nor clinch defense.

  • muay thai guy knew how to keep his distance

  • hell, yeah! hiiiiihaaaa!!!!!

  • thats the most retarded ju jitsu ive ever seen. he doesnt know how to take down and basically ran into the muy thai knees.

  • maravilha as joelhadas

  • AUIhiUHAiUHAiUHiHAiUahAiuh

  • YEAH!!!! MUAY THAI!!!

  • god the sound of that hurt.

  • I personally love both BJJ and Muay Thai and train in both as they are great for creating a well rounded fighter. I even write a blog of my experience on my journey to getting my BJJ black belt.

  • Bjj white belt hahaha

  • thai-clinch are deadly. and this was not even a heavy clinch-technique

  • wow he failed. there was so many different things he should have done. like block the leg. lol

  • the fuck? that was an illegal finish, no hits to the back of the head right?

  • @LaughingTombstone it is vale tudo fighting... Portuguese for "anything goes".

  • @LaughingTombstone Even if it is illegal, the BJJ guy was already finished. But there was no rules in this fight.

  • İt is good to see that a grappler can also be defeated

  • The muay thai guy was a wrestler

  • i love both style in MMA, if BJJ can take down Muay thai maybe lost but before go to take down you have to eat knee and kick first

  • Pele is a legend. Enjoy the fight and if you still live with your parents, don't comment.

  • beuatiful finishing.

  • this IS FAKE. look at the "fake knee at 1:28/1:29 and the following punches dont connect. like most things in thailand this is not as it seems!

  • @mrchinchin2001 Dude....It's Brazil not Thailand. Trust me, those "fake knees" would knock you out the first time they "wouldn't" connect.

  • @mrchinchin2001 lmao yeah ok that hard high kick sure would be used in a fake fight
