  • an ever occured at 20o metres GGGGGRRRRRR (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻)

  • Lasse Virén owns him

  • Absolutely wonderful

  • this video ill help me beacause im 13 and mildly short and want to be a reciever in football and people tell me i have no chance, am too short and dont run fast enough.i will use this video to inspire me. thank you for this very inspiring video!

  • hhhhmmmm.......EPIC.....that's all i say.

  • Steve Jones was truly a great athlete. He averaged a 4:42 one mile pace for 6.2 miles. And normally in a race like that, the white guy doesn't win. Anybody with experience in hard running knows that's insane.

  • im a seroius badass but i neraly cried with joy!!whats up with that?

  • @therobbieunited absoultly nothing. what they guy did that day was nothing short of raw mental strength and you, myself and every other person on this planet has got this too. his time came ;)

  • its upsetting music videos and videos of people looking for popularity and internet fame get more views than truely inspiration things like this. it really is not over till its over, and to be honest he was told he couldn't do it, that he had no finishing speed and he proved everybody wrong, i love people telling me im not going to succeed, it just means when i do succeed its a greater satisfaction knowing you proved not only yourself wrong but also the people wrongwho doubted you from the start

  • I remember this race and I remember watching Steve Jones set the world record in the London Marathon. The man was phenomenal and seemed to be almost able to switch off pain and go through the barrier to the next level.

  • Human beings can give themselves to good or evil. This is a perfect example of the us giving everything we got to not only to ourselves but to all and for good.

  • what song is this??

  • @trackheart012

    Rocky track "going the distance"

If you like this track, I suggest you listen to the instrumental of "Victory" by Puff Daddy featuring B.I.G. Basically samples this and makes it darker, I use it for my run and workouts.

  • fucking. amazing.

  • ADRIAAAAAN!!! ADRIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN.

  • Just goes to show you, it's not over till it's over. Usually when you come off that last turn you feel like you're carrying a piano and running in soft sand. the person with the most momentum wins 9 out of 10 times. This was the 10th time when it did not happen. Congrats to Mr. Jones!

  • Jones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolute Awesomenosity. What song was it?

  • the fact that the song is from rocky just makes it even more epic

  • Comment removed

  • Im off for a run

  • the man who took the t out of can't.

  • the song did it.

  • Sheer determination!!!!!

  • And the exact date is August 26, 1983.

  • For all who asked themselves when this video was taken: It's from 1983, from the 10,000 metres at the Brussels meet. The other two runners are Gidamis Shahanga (Tanzania, 2nd) and Bekele Debele (Ethiopia, 3rd).

  • Watching this made me think of this, in high school, Michael Jordan's coach told him he didn't make the team, because he wasn't good enough. I'm sure that coach is laughing about that now! :o

  • Speechless bravery and insurmountable will to win.

  • jones was ex RAF. ive never seen that race before thanks for posting. great stuff.

  • im gona show this2 my son 4inspiration choice vid bro RESPECT alryte

  • GO ON MY SON

  • Mr Monty........... May I pay my respects to your inspiring video. Your my first you tube comment and what a pleasure it is to watch. Don't care what people say about the 39 dislikes (you can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink) !!!! Tom Conti music just adds to the realism of the crossover which sports have in movies. Well done. Plus Steve Jones is a LEGEND!!!!!!

  • RESPECT

  • hahaha wooww!! make me cry!!.. impressive..

  • OMG!!!

  • Thank u for this.....its really cool....THANX

  • Goosebumps! =)

  • Great running. Courageous indeed/

  • holy shit, the music in the backround made this video 20x better

  • I had a similar experience and beat the county champion by one second, watched by my family, I was expected to lose so this brings all the memories flooding back- great video!!!

  • you have to have done serious long distance races to understand how deep he had to dig to win that race

  • I thought this was a movie at first haha

  • This is my all time favorite video. I love it whe the commentator says "Jones looking for troble and the trouble is there" The Rocky music makes it even better

  • Makes me proud to be british :)

  • I hardly believe this was bot a movie. Fan - tas - tic. Just fantastic.

  • ROCKY!

  • Put the hammer down Steve. Great video. I like the Rocky music soundtrack in the background too.

  • Don't listen to those who don't believe in you, prove those fuckers wrong. Great vid!

  • @Quiztix same i was like get in

  • he was very smart, got the guy to sprint on the outside to tire him out and then he kicked ... guts and smarts.

  • for anyone who has not run distance, that is, without a doubt, the hardest thing to do. to try and out kick a person who has passed u, after an entire race. mucho respecto.

  • Got shivers at 1:36 haha

  • That has brought tears to my eyes.

  • it just shows, it doesn't matter if one runner is faster than the other. It just comes down to who wants it more

  • "Jones is looking for trouble.....and trouble is ther!...."

    Epic comeback!

  • Oooooooooh that was good.

  • "and jones coming back"..hairs on my arms stood up.

  • How any one dislike this???

  • Outstanding video! I love seeing people succeed after people say they can't. Thanks for the upload

  • AT the time I opened this vide i start to smile, dont know why?

I feel the point right from beginning i guess.

  • heart of a lion

  • Wonderful.

So many times the Kenyans gang up on the British Runner and hound him into submission - but not this time.... ;)

  • That is amazing!!!

  • Ha, Brilliant

  • this makes me feel proud to be British i have got a tear in my eye

    BEST OF BRITISH

  • It's freezing outside so I needed to watch this clip again to get my lazy bones motivated to go to the gym. Off I go....... I'm pump now!

  • This is what you get when you have the most important things in life, Heart and Passion

  • Sheer guts. Magnificent.

  • I cried.

  • @SuperJane99

Heh. I balled like a baby.

  • Fricken Warrior

  • Pretty certain this is at the Bislett games in Oslo, mid 80s. Jones was an enigma & amazing long distance runner. Broke the world record for the marathon in his SECOND marathon after failing to finish in his first.

He didn't have a kick to speak of & relied on going hard &fast to blow the competition away.hence why the commentators were predicting he'd be beaten Suffered from some terrible injuries at critical points of his career.

2:07.13 is still a British marathon Record.

  • You can kick a dog when its down and low, But mark my words the fucker will great right back up and bite you in the ass..

  • "And, of course, he has very little finishing speed." Yeah, right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • YO ADRIAN! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • what a finish!

  • when it said he came 2nd.. i got frustrated lol

  • It would be epic if during major sporting events like this they played the rocky theme

  • ran right through the physical and mental barrier.

  • thumbs up if you love this song!

  • running ain't always about winning, sometimes it's about excelling!

  • too soon junior! thats all i could think of was fast and the furious jahahah

  • Is it wierd that i am jealous of his pain?

  • holy crap that really got the blood pumping. great video

  • I found myself screaming"COME ON MY SON!" at the screen!

  • Every human has the ability to push themselves like this, you just have to show no fear and believe in no barriers.

  • definately.

  • Heart of a Champion

  • British spirit...

  • Unbelievable, you can't understand this if you are not a runner, that just made me speechless

  • He kept that little ace in his pocket for quite a while!

  • Yyeeaaaaaaah!!

  • @markmonty40 Thank you very much!! Absolutely unique choice the music to your video!!!

  • damn.

  • made me smile :)

  • He pushed himself to the limit, brillant run.Havent run in a few days but tonight im going to push myself till my legs are dead, through the pain,i love running because you get this amazing high from it when you've finished. The guys got alot of heart, prefontaine was brillant too.

  • he must've already felt like dropping dead before that last 400! fair play! soldier!

  • Omg... i can almost feel his pain as he pushes forward to victory.... so brave

  • Crazy!

  • yeah that was good though great come back

  • Good for him

  • Pre would be proud of him.

  • That just goes to show, don't give up, and believe you can do anything, then you can put your mind to it

  • Omg... Determination to the limit!

  • You can tell that from the african when he see's Jones go back past him , phsycologically he is finished!

  • godamn... i know the feeling... you feel like your about to die... and you just keep pushing. the power stems from the heart... Pure heart and soul <3

  • Starting in front is one thing; staying in front is another.

  • WHAT A FUCKIN' STUD!!! Lots of runners have talent, but only a select few have HEART! (PRE, EL Guerrouj, Mills.......and this guy!!!!!!)

  • Steve Jones is a 2 time winner of the Chicago Marathon. When they didn't have the race in 1987, Steve came back to town to run a half marathon, for no prize money, simply because he loved to run. I was proud to run in the same field as the great Steve Jones.

  • that made my heart pound man!! well done to him!

  • Thats absolutley brilliant an amazing runner to do that

  • what an amazing runner

  • I met this guy at the running track the last day. I was like to my coach, who is that guy. Now I know!

  • Greatest video ever. Hands down.
