Lets talk 2011. 400 hp out of the 5.0 Mustang GT (not GT500). 422hp out of the 6.2 Camaro SS. So, remove 1.2L worth of displacement, and the power remains virtually the same. Mustang wins in handling, ergonomics, and price. The price is 1k$ less msrp. you can make 22hp with a $1000... So there are literally two reasons why you would choose Camaro over Mustang. 1) you are a Chevy fan who refuses to by a Ford product, or 2) You have too much money on hand and happen to like Camaro's looks better.

Interesting points, however we need to keep in mind that while you are removing 1.2 L of displacement you are also adding 3 camshafts, 16 valves, as well as added compression. Larger displacement by virtue also yields more torque which is why the 5.0 is also deficient by 30 lb-ft of torque compared to the 6.2. Compare what you can do with those $1k with the Mustang to what you can do to the Camaro. So there is more than those two reasons posted.

GT500 runs to 100mph almost a second faster than the SS. That a big gap. (MT)

GT500 out handles the SS in every way. And I know there modern muscle cars but today that seriously means something.

GT500 has hand built motor and very balanced and controllable handling the SS is also very good but in reality its a bunch of already existing parts and platform with a new pretty face in side and out.

You do realize you're comparing the Shelby against an SS right? The Shelby is a limited number supercharged vehicle with a 60k price tag. The Camaro SS is a standard production vehicle with a mid 30k price tag.

If you want to do the Shelby vs. Camaro do it against the Hennessey or Lingenfelter Camaros.

A standard 2010 V8 GT has 315hp. The standard V6 Camaro LT has 306 and dogs the GT all day at the track.
