He's a phenomenon. I've seen him so many times and had the pleasure of working with a support band - does he really get better or are we all just lovin' him too much? Live he is so awesome my neck hair stands up and I just shake rattle 'n dance! The Cook County Jail is another recorded live gig that is one ot the world's best too. if you meet anyone who saw that concert best leave quietly.
One of the better recordings in the history of the blues, "B.B. King, Live at the Regal Theatre" is a real treat. If you've ever seen him live, you know what a complete show he gives. Here, you get a snatch of his rap. The rest of the album is worth getting.
Sweet little angel + It's my own Fault + How blue can you get = I love the way these songs flow together on Live at the Regal. I can never listen to one at a time, it has to be all 3 together.
wow this sounds so much different from BB king today. seems like he was more in to it from not playing so many performances or he just likes the venue
Debatable, but most hardcore BB fans I come across rate Blues Is King top. Nightlife is great on that album, but the solo that kicks off Sweet Sixteen is one of his best-ever.
wow, BB is the king of tone, and this little recording proves it. ES 335 out of some blackface fender amp (super/twin/twin reverb maybe) is a magical combo with that man's fingers.
Live at the Regal is a 1965 live album by blues guitarist B. B. King. It was recorded in 1964 at the Regal Theater in Chicago. The album is widely heralded as one of the greatest blues albums ever recorded and is #141 on Rolling Stone Magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Despite its critical appreciation, B. B. King does not consider it among his best recordings.
I can't believe my ears I hear it the song Sweet Little Angel I hear the crowd in the background. I've been practicing day after day my • Dramatic Musical Instrumental Interpretations and now I'm hearing some one else. This is pure guidance. Thanks for opening my ears and my heart. I'd love to hear "The Worst Thing That Ever Happened In My Life" I wonder If I'll ever be able to stand up to that kinda exposure and pressure. Till then I keep practicing.
I have this Live and also Live at the Apollo which is equally phenominal.
If you ever get your hands on Live Apollo pay special attention to ' All Over Again' a classic BB ballad in which he weeps with his guitar like only BB can!
@mayerguitar that was the worst joke i have ever heard in my life. it literally made me sad. you suck. everyone here is dumber for having read your comment, you are awarded no points, may god have mercy on your soul

Saw BB when he was in Albq NM. He'd just turned 85, & the man blew my mind. Buddy Guy was there as well, & his performance was stellar.

@DrPeterVenkman Yeah, at 85 BB King hasn't lost a single ounce of anything. John Lee Hooker was great live well into his eighties, too.

To get your own Sweet Little Angel, you just need to play guitar like BB King. :D

It's interesting how thing song evolved from Tampa Red's "Sweet Black Angel" to Robert Nighthawk's version to BB's modified version.

That's definitely debatable about Blues is King. Although the Willie Nelson cover he does on that album is an amazing thing.

Twin Reverb. But I think that by the time this album was recorded, he was playing a "Stereo" -- ES-345.
junctiondailyblog 2 years ago
@bcoffey14 man I would love to get my hands on a Gibson ES-335 'Lucille', I have a ES-137 custom, but it's just not the same lol
rudeboydeevon 2 years ago
He's playing an ES-355 Stereo not a 335. He used Twin Reverbs as well as a Bandmaster back then.
