I like your voice, but there's something about the way you sang this that I can't quite put my finger on. I think it's too much like speech and not enough like singing. And a lot of your notes are really accented and stacatto where I don't think they should be. And a few of your little dips and scoops are funny.

It's all stuff that could be changed easily, if you wanted; you have a lot of talent, really :)

the beuaty of a revue is that there is virtually no story line, except the lines. so pretty much it is up for a variety of interpretations. and how could you ever compare anyone to audra? she's not of this world haha. this girl does a beautiful job.

Pay attention to the way Audra McDonald sings this song. It is perfect! FInd a video recording, then make it your own. You speak when your should sing and sing when you should speak. Watch the back phrasing, JRB's music has so much complexity to it, if you embelish too much you loose the essence of the composition.

well since your username suggests your a theatre lover, then you have to remember: she may look overemotional but from the audiences p.o.v. live, she looks great, and her diction is fine. that's exactly how it should be, really great performers never look that great on tape, that's why they perform live. and she didn't speak through most of it, and besides if you sing each note exactly as written it sounds boring, so think before you speak, as for ms. emily: a wonderful performance.
