normal people freak out a lot and sometimes they do bad things. normal people always try to be their best, but you know what? i think autistic people have something very special and that special thing is calmness and strength...they have a strength to be who they are and they also have calmness so they do not lash out when someone calls them autistic. also ithink they have passion, which allows them to be special creatures of God.
I think most 'normal' people are autistic in the sense that they have deviated from the true meaning of life, which is to evolve and live and love each other, and have instead formulated some kind of 'pseudo-normality', in which persuing wealth, and sex, and entertainment is expected of human beings. Us humans are off 'in our own little world' doing out 'own' things, outside of true life. So, if you think about it, humans are all autistic. Some autistic people may actually be less autistic.
excellent video excerpt. there are so many misconceptions about people with disabilities. i have attached a video by a young man with CP, Eric Brandt. eric is singing a song about looking beyond people's exterior and seeing the person inside.
I happened to have just met Taylor (I didn't realize that I lived only a block away from him) this weekend, and he's a really, really cool guy... I didn't know that he and his mom made something like this until she told me about it earlier tonight, and now I feel like that I'm honored for them to have come into my life. I'm looking forward to getting (and watching) this documentary ASAP!
"Normal" is a phrase lended to a theory that is nothing more than just a theory.
What is "Normal" is different for each individual on this planet - it is down to each person's own perception. So essentially, there is no ONE way of being that is "normal".
Everyone is different, that is what makes this world a beautiful place.
I wish this film showed low functioning autistic children such as mine. I still ahve never had a conversation with her and she is 9. I would love to be to even know her favorite color. As for John Travolta's son Jett, I don't believe he was at all high functioning like these kids and that may be what bothered John. It's apples and oranges. But I'm glad autism is being ackowledged in some way.
I think people misunderstood your comment.... So people think that people are just retarded over there and not the Autistic diagnoses... but there is no information over there so there is no way to helpa friend of yours that lives there. Yes it is quite sad I agree.
I have to say thank you to Trevor, Joey and Trevor's Mom for this video. It was an aspect I hadn't thought of in concerns of my own HFA teen.
The part about not being able to keep up with the pace of peers not on the spectrum, and not getting everything that's said the first time around has been a struggle for my teen. I'd love to talk to Trevor's mom for some more insight.
Yeah I'm sick of the media portraying Autism/Asperger's people like they're a bunch of bratty kids who avoid everyone and stare off mindlessly into space. They don't expres themselves the way most others do, but they are still people, with real feelings, real emotions, and they love their familes/friends, and they have real dreams and goals.
At 7:28 - If you write, Sweetheart, you're already a writer. With God, ALL THINGS are possible.
At the end, YES! The only thing our fam knows about being "normal" is that it must be pretty boring.
"Thank You for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous...You watched me as I was being formed...in the dark of the womb...how precious are Your thoughts about me, O God..."
Great video. I wish that perhaps everyone involved in it's creation will do another one & make it more in depth. I'm wondering if Joey Travolta got involved with this as a reach out to his brother and in love of his nephew Jett, to get him the help he needed. I know the Travolta's loved their son immensely & tenderly but I can't help but think he missed out on treatment that could have helped because of his parents religious beliefs. It happens all the time & we hear about it when it goes bad.
Thank you for making this documentary, I have three brothers with autism, so I know how ignorent people can be. The video was done very well and I hope this will change how people respond to Autism
This was an outstanding documentary. I learned much from the perspective of Taylor and many other kids. Your course today in Okinawa Japan was awesome. You did an Outstanding Class and my ignorance has now been cured as I like to say. I really Thank you for all your hard work and dedication and if I could some how hold a world meeting about this, You would definitely deserve it. Great Job!!
The girl at 6:55 is adorable. I'm glad that there are people on Earth who are special. :)

have you ever watched ben x?
if not, its here on youtube with english subtitles
it shows how an autistic boy (with a severe case, true) and how he sees the world
to me it seems the movie is a good representation of how most autistics percieve the world
i hope it may help you communicate more easily with youre daughter :)

Joey Travolta is John Travolta's brother.
They have been known to be on opposing sides when it comes to the subject of autism.
