Fight Club? Isn't this when Seth Rogen chases a flasher with a small dick through a mall and shoots him point blank in the chest. Oh yeah this plays at the end of Fight Club when the buildings fall. I remember. Nah, I'm going with the much more cinematically important Seth Rogen scene.
@coreyaruecker lmao you can play it both ways asshole. Tablature can be read both ways too. I'm guessing your the one who hasn't ever seen it the other way? Ever heard of guitar pro? Lmao...
@RyanJRA64Abella if you knew that tab could be read both ways, then you would have had to know that low-E on bottom is the most common way, and from that you could have deduced why I would have flipped it in Rocksmith... So why did you have to ask?
This song is so boss. If you have never seen Fight Club well first you suck and second they play this song at the end. I wanted this game anyway but now that i know this song and soundgarden are on it I will buy for sure.
@Jeffero28 yes, I watched Fight Club, A DECADE AGO. I barely even remember the actors in it, nevermind what song was being played during the credits or whatever.
@adolson didnt mean it as an insult. But that movie is how i discovered the band Pixies who have lots of other great songs...And yes its at the end but starts before the credits. You should watch it again it's certainly a movie worth watching more than once.
@Jeffero28 yeah, it was a good movie, for sure. funnily enough, the thing I do remember is the main plot and how it ends.. that's the main reason I haven't rewatched it - just haven't felt the need.
@adolson Then you don't remember the plot, or the deeper meaning behind the movie and why he went crazy to begin with lol. Either way awesome song and even better movie. Watch it again.
All right so you have a decent memory but what I think @kwizzeh means is that you probably have a crappy taste in movies if Fight Club isn't in your top 10 movies, until now I haven't heard of a single person who has watched that movie and hasn't fallen in love with it
All right so you have a decent memory but what I think @kwizzeh means is that you probably have a crappy taste in movies if Fight Club isn't in your top 10 movies, until now I haven't heard of a single person who has watched that movie and hasn't fallen in love with it
@kwizzeh & @RobieGate7 & everyone else who wants to mention this: I didn't forget those two. I said I could barely remember the main actors. Which means I did remember them. But they are the only two I do remember.
@adolson ummm Helena Bohnam Carter as the gutter tramp Marla Singer ... HERROOOOooo!! Very sexy. Meatloaf as (his name was) Robert Paulson ... you suck if you only watched this movie once ... because it is a completely different movie the second time you watch it ... you see all of the visual queues the director was showing you the whole time about what was really happening that you didn't notice the first time ...
I bet you can't even tell me the name of Ed Norton's character in the movie ;)
@kuLehand66 I DID watch Fight Club multiple times. A long LONG time ago. I remember Tyler Durden, though. But my life has a lot more going on in it than a single movie. I have many hobbies. I don't keep tabs on the thousands of movies and TV shows I have seen, and all the celebrities in them. I don't know who is dating who, who got fat, who had a baby, who shaved their head (ok, I *do* know that Britney Spears fits all of those, but, that's it). It's of very little concern to me.
@adolson EEEENNNNNHHH!!!! Wrong. Ed Norton's character's name is NOT Tyler Durden ... that was Brad Pitt's character ... care to try again since you said you watched it many times?
@kuLehand66 dude, get a fucking life, seriously. I watched the MOVIE and that's what it is, a fucking MOVIE. Fight Club is not my life, and you seriously have a problem. Seek help.
@adolson LOL ... u mad bro? I love it when people get so upset about something they have to insult the person asking the question. Who is the one with the problem? Not I me thinks ;)
@adolson the point of the question was that they never say Ed Norton's character's name ... you never know who he really is. And it is just a movie ... but a very philosophical one ... more than most people give it credit for. Also, the director did a fantastic job with the editing and all the truly wonderful visual story telling that most movies are missing. Perhaps most people are so unaware that it doesn't make a difference since most people cant tell the difference between crap and great.
@NeoGamer99 I don't know for sure, but I think for me, the way Rocksmith works is better because timing is easier to tell than with tabs, even with the few websites with moving tab. Just my preference. That's after putting hours into the game, though. For a while I lamented the lack of tab option, but now it's all good.
@LaMnchaUrbana halo might be worth it because of new people working on it, Cod isnt worth it from what i hear, but i havent played it, Gears is worth it for multiplayer alone, but single player is fun too... and rocksmith i would recommend to any guitarist, no matter how skilled you are, if you want to play guitar, heres a great way to learn or get better... oh and looking for a girl for looks alone will probably just leave you broke and sad unless its a nice girl, lololol

@birum18 you need to take advantage of the riff repreater, and the time-slowing riff thing. those features really help to figure everything out. I also find that it is much easier to play if you invert the strings on screen (as in switch it so that your red string is on the bottom and your purple one is at the top. that can be done through the menu. also make sure your screen delay is set right.
@Lunchsacks the "level" riff repeater definitely helps but the other riff repeaters dont at all. And I don't really see how inverting the display would help because the 6th string should be on top lol but I guess it wouldn't hurt to try
@birum18 well tabs are usually written the other way around, and when you look at your fretboard from the perspective of your own eyes, the low e(red) is on the bottom of your vision... I think it's just easier to translate. also helps translate into reading tabs.
@TheHxcoreauburn uh, first of all, I didn't spend over $100 on the game. I didn't buy the guitar bundle. I plug in my own guitar. Secondly, the bundle that comes with the guitar IS a real guitar - it's an Epiphone Les Paul Jr. There are no stupid modifications to it, you just plug in any guitar using a 1/4"-to-USB cable. Stop hating things while being ignorant.
@TheHxcoreauburn whatever you say, chump. I prefer my Epiphone Gothic Les Paul over my Charvel Model 4, or my wife's Jackson. But since you say they aren't worth shit, I guess I should just throw it away.
@TheHxcoreauburn My epiphone Les Paul standard, plus top, is a great guitar. I actually prefer my danelectro U3 over my epiphone, or my Gibson fling V. In all reality it isn't the guitar, it's the player, a good player can make any guitar sound good.
@TheHxcoreauburn "This seems pointless." "just go learn the right way." "just go out and buy an actual guitar." I read your comment, and it's not my fault you worded it wrong. Maybe you should re-read what you wrote. And there is NO "right way" to learn guitar. Self-taught, with a teacher, using DVDs, reading musical notation books, reading tabs, or playing a video game. Whichever it is, you can't tell me that the way you learned is the only proper way to learn. Everyone is different.
@adolson haha ignore him, your feeding the troll. Nothing is for everybody so he needs to calm down. It's just a game trying to get more people into the guitar. It doesn't matter where you start or what you learn at least your playing music. I really don't understand why people get mad and biased about EVERYTHING! Good playing by the way I love "wheres my mind" by the pixies. Maybe try baring the 1 and 2 string(E and B) if you arn't already so you don't have to go back and forth on the strings
@TheHxcoreauburn Im talking to you obviously and my comment was far from ignorant, but thats ok your clearly mad that nobody is siding with you; which should indicate that your wrong but your too narrow minded to even think that.
@TheHxcoreauburn boooooy, you can tell that you don't know what the fuck you are talking about... I have taken guitar lessons for over 3 years, and after that long, I decided to teach myself, and apply rather than learn. This game is a wonderful way to learn! and also, guitar LESSONS cost $60 per month, which includes 4 lessons. this game is like $75, that's a lot more value than lessons, maybe lessons are better, but it is a video game, not an instructional video.
wow do i hate this song... not that its bad, but im stuck, im between 2 difficulties, and if i miss notes it drops me down which screws me up, and when i play good it adds more it screws me up.
on a side note, do you notice any lag in this game, i have it hooked up to my ps3, hdmi to my monitor, optical to my logitec z5500 and i believe dolby through that, or something else for headphones, with or without headphones i notice no lag at all, and was really surprised.
@alidan There's a slight lag but I don't notice it at all when I'm playing a song, and it never caused me to miss a note. It's only *barely* there in amp mode. It's certainly not bad enough for me to drop down to analog RCA audio.
@TheNeoGenea yeah, I was like that a little until I tried Guitar Hero myself, and I thought it was fun. But you're right, there's no excuse now, and I know another guitarist who was very anti-GH/RB games, and he is digging Rocksmith (despite the lack of metal).
@TheNeoGenea This is cooler than Guitar Hero by far, and interesting as a learning/practice aid, but I'd much rather sit in my room with whatever song I want to learn on repeat with my strat plugged into my Mesa.
Additionally, there's alot of techniques they need to figure out how to add to this game for me to think it has real value... like proper finger positions, for instance, which are crucial to learning to play well.
@TheNeoGenea lol my Bro in law used to make fun of my playing gitar hero and he was like ooo your playing a plastic gitar lols now im playing with a Dean Hardtail WHOS BAD NOW LOLS!!
@TheNeoGenea It wasnt like that, Guitar hero was a HEAVILY directed experience that kept it's promise - it felt so good to finish a hard song . Now it's the same, just using a different controller and a more complicated interface, only this time you can actually put your skills to good use away from the TV/Computer.
I have the game, it's alright! One question though, do you have your HDMI cord plugged in for this video or your analog cables? I am noticing just the smallest lag here
@droptopsixfo for recording, I have component video and optical audio out from the PS3 to my Denon receiver. From there, I output the video over component into my HD PVR, and the audio goes out over optical and into a Turtle Beach EarForce DSS and out of that via the 1/8" headphone jack to red/white RCA audio inputs into the HD PVR. On top of that, I have lag set to I forget, 30-60ms in the game. So it's not a wonder that you'd notice some delay in the video. I don't seem to notice when playing.
It really amazes me that there wasnt more advertising or hype for this game...its one of the few games you can play for hours and be productive...not to mention its designed and works so well...good playing bro this song beats my ass lol
@Nirvana199624 there are a few in dropped-D, yes. It checks your tuning before every song and if you need to fix it or change, it goes into the tuner.
Cool song. I haven't really ever listened to Pixies, before. I like music with that kind of vibe & groove. I'll have to check them out more of there stuff.
Thanks for uploading some no frills gameplay. (Nice playing, too!) Cool to see how it actually works, instead of a promo or commercial.
@Huntington12345678 yeah, I never listened to them either, but I'd heard the name. That's a cool thing about this game (and Guitar Hero 3, and to a lesser extent Rock Band) for me - I found some new songs and bands that I like just by playing video games. Also, I hear ya on the promo stuff.. I do run a hobby PS3 site, but Ubisoft did not send me a review copy. They didn't send me an Epiphone SG guitar either. My enthusiasm for Rocksmith is genuine, and not won over by freebies like some others.
My ps3 was set for optical audio straight to the receiver and there was just a slight bit of delay, no matter what receiver settings I used. (onkyo receiver). So I plugged in the RCA cables (hdmi direct to tv, RCA to receiver) and put audio on "direct" mode which doesn't do any processing. There is no noticeably delay. Big improvement!
@zambimaru I'm not a beginner, but a lot of the songs make me feel like I am, haha. I think beginners could learn with it, though. It teaches you how to hold a pick, how to tune, and there's a bunch of technique challenges that they teach you with videos and stuff. I can't say for sure, but I do wish I had this when I was starting out.
@adolson soo your saying i can learn with this ive been wanting to try out the electric guitar but i dont have anyone to teach me soo will i learn how to play songs with this ?? and end up as a decent guitar player once i get the hang of it ??
@Ipodtouchfanboy I can't say that for sure, but I *think* so. I can tell you that I wish I had this when I was first starting out. If you buy the $199 bundle, you get an Epiphone guitar which isn't too bad for a beginner, so if you need a guitar, go for the bundle.
@MillenniumX17 and here Ive been complaining that I can't quickly decipher what my fret positions are lol, was wondering why it wasnt set to read like a tab
I know people are shitting on you for not playing this perfectly, and I'm not going to do that, but that solo bit was so unexpectedly funny and comedically timed that I scream-laughed.
I didn't even notice until after the fact. Keep it up.
@1989Muppet I absolutely would recommend it. just keep in mind that this is their first effort, and the presentation is a bit ... bland. The tech works well, and the setlist (despite the lack of metal and songs I actually know) is rather good. It's not really a game so much as a tool to learn songs and earn trophies/achievements while you jam on your guitar.
@bleeatch yeah, and? I never heard the song before. This is the second time playing it, once in rehearsal and then in the event... I'm not posting this to show off how amazing I think I am on guitar, it's just to show people about the game since there's hardly any videos on here about it right now.
@tman2tuff Doesn't the lack of notes indicate that he hasn't maxed out his skill in the song? I believe the game omits until you get better; somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I'm assuming here but the notation from all of these songs had to have come from the band/record company .
I'm still waiting to buy this until I hear more about it
@frogin8or yeah, you are correct. The more you play, the more it shows you, and I've only played it twice at this point so the notes are still filling in for the parts where I'm playing it "right." As I said elsewhere, I just recorded it to get some vids up on here because there's a distinct lack of them. Ubisoft should really put some marketing dollars behind this one because it's more fun than playing on a fake guitar, at least to me.
@adolson thats been my biggest problem with picking this up. they limited the amount of exposure the game was getting. I didn't like the fact that they had "test lab" people playing it and posting videos it seemed to controlled. I appreciate you getting game play up! how responsive is the game to your playing?
@frogin8or it's very responsive. On the tuner, you can practically strum all the strings and it'll pick out the frequencies correctly. It tracks way better than my Pitch Black tuner pedal, but I've heard it's not as fast as the PolyTune. In any case, it really works and I'm not experiencing debilitating lag despite using optical audio rather than the recommended analog audio, which was my biggest fear before buying the game.
@adolson I thought I read on the rocksmith page that they recommend Optical as the best source of audio... i actually just set mine up that way last night. Figured, I might as well be ahead of the game if I'm going to pick it up. I think the only way audio would be better would be with a short digital coaxial, but 360 doesn't have that output. as far as lag goes with playing a string and there being a delay... how noticeable is it?
@frogin8or hmm, well, the info included in the game didn't even mention optical, from what I recall. Anyhow, I don't even notice any lag when I'm playing a song, really only in amp mode, but it isn't bad at all. But it's dependent on your system, too. I put my PS3's HDMI video output (component when capturing) and audio via optical into my Denon receiver and set the audio delay to 0 (I used to have it at about 40ms to fix slightly out-of-sync audio due to my cheap Sanyo LCD).
@StraightEdgeNate I really am having a blast with it. it's a little barebones or bland in the presentation, but being able to sit on my couch and earn PSN trophies while playing my guitar, that's pretty awesome. I think newbies could probably learn to play guitar with it, but it's really hard to say because I've played for years (not very good at it anyhow, but still).
ill just watch the youtube videos to learn the song.

This game is a wonderful way to learn! and also, guitar LESSONS cost $60 per month, which includes 4 lessons. this game is like $75, that's a lot more value than lessons, maybe lessons are better, but it is a video game, not an instructional video.

wow do i hate this song... not that its bad, but im stuck, im between 2 difficulties, and if i miss notes it drops me down which screws me up, and when i play good it adds more it screws me up.
on a side note, do you notice any lag in this game, i have it hooked up to my ps3, hdmi to my monitor, optical to my logitec z5500 and i believe dolby through that, or something else for headphones, with or without headphones i notice no lag at all, and was really surprised.
alidan 4 months ago
@alidan There's a slight lag but I don't notice it at all when I'm playing a song, and it never caused me to miss a note. It's only *barely* there in amp mode. It's certainly not bad enough for me to drop down to analog RCA audio.
adolson 4 months ago
Thank you for posting game play, it is so hard to find it about this game.

When Guitar hero first came out, I heard people say, "Why play that when I can play real guitar!" I wonder what they are going to say now? ^_^
TheNeoGenea 4 months ago 21
@TheNeoGenea yeah, I was like that a little until I tried Guitar Hero myself, and I thought it was fun. But you're right, there's no excuse now, and I know another guitarist who was very anti-GH/RB games, and he is digging Rocksmith (despite the lack of metal).
adolson 4 months ago

@TheNeoGenea What makes you think they'll say anything? This is totally different than Guitar Hero.
jajajabalsy 3 months ago
@jajajabalsy That's the point -_-
TheNeoGenea 3 months ago
@TheNeoGenea It wasnt like that, Guitar hero was a HEAVILY directed experience that kept it's promise - it felt so good to finish a hard song . Now it's the same, just using a different controller and a more complicated interface, only this time you can actually put your skills to good use away from the TV/Computer.
SiriusXification 2 months ago
I have the game, it's alright! One question though, do you have your HDMI cord plugged in for this video or your analog cables? I am noticing just the smallest lag here
droptopsixfo 4 months ago
@droptopsixfo for recording, I have component video and optical audio out from the PS3 to my Denon receiver. From there, I output the video over component into my HD PVR, and the audio goes out over optical and into a Turtle Beach EarForce DSS and out of that via the 1/8" headphone jack to red/white RCA audio inputs into the HD PVR. On top of that, I have lag set to I forget, 30-60ms in the game. So it's not a wonder that you'd notice some delay in the video. I don't seem to notice when playing.

@antitzin In the options menu, you can invert the guitar (for lefties) and invert the tab format if you choose.

does this game play songs in dropped down tuning? just curious
Nirvana199624 4 months ago
@Nirvana199624 there are a few in dropped-D, yes. It checks your tuning before every song and if you need to fix it or change, it goes into the tuner.
adolson 4 months ago
Cool song. I haven't really ever listened to Pixies, before. I like music with that kind of vibe & groove. I'll have to check them out more of there stuff.
Thanks for uploading some no frills gameplay. (Nice playing, too!) Cool to see how it actually works, instead of a promo or commercial.
Huntington12345678 4 months ago
@Huntington12345678 yeah, I never listened to them either, but I'd heard the name. That's a cool thing about this game (and Guitar Hero 3, and to a lesser extent Rock Band) for me - I found some new songs and bands that I like just by playing video games. Also, I hear ya on the promo stuff.. I do run a hobby PS3 site, but Ubisoft did not send me a review copy. They didn't send me an Epiphone SG guitar either. My enthusiasm for Rocksmith is genuine, and not won over by freebies like some others.

@TheMrGuitarMan22 yes, it does. The very first thing you do is choose if you're left or right handed.
adolson 4 months ago
My ps3 was set for optical audio straight to the receiver and there was just a slight bit of delay, no matter what receiver settings I used. (onkyo receiver). So I plugged in the RCA cables (hdmi direct to tv, RCA to receiver) and put audio on "direct" mode which doesn't do any processing. There is no noticeably delay. Big improvement!

Is this game good at teaching beginners? I've been thinking about trying it.
zambimaru 4 months ago
@zambimaru I'm not a beginner, but a lot of the songs make me feel like I am, haha. I think beginners could learn with it, though. It teaches you how to hold a pick, how to tune, and there's a bunch of technique challenges that they teach you with videos and stuff. I can't say for sure, but I do wish I had this when I was starting out.
adolson 4 months ago
@adolson Cool.
zambimaru 4 months ago
@adolson soo your saying i can learn with this ive been wanting to try out the electric guitar but i dont have anyone to teach me soo will i learn how to play songs with this ?? and end up as a decent guitar player once i get the hang of it ??
Ipodtouchfanboy 4 months ago
@Ipodtouchfanboy I can't say that for sure, but I *think* so. I can tell you that I wish I had this when I was first starting out. If you buy the $199 bundle, you get an Epiphone guitar which isn't too bad for a beginner, so if you need a guitar, go for the bundle.

Why are your low strings on the bottom and not the top? Are you playing left handed or something? I'm confused.
StexeGod 4 months ago
@StexeGod because I inverted the strings in the options menu. guitar tabs have the low E on the bottom, and I'm used to that.

Thats better than I could do. I've been playing with the idea of buying this game for a while. Would you recommend it?
1989Muppet 4 months ago
@1989Muppet I absolutely would recommend it. just keep in mind that this is their first effort, and the presentation is a bit ... bland. The tech works well, and the setlist (despite the lack of metal and songs I actually know) is rather good. It's not really a game so much as a tool to learn songs and earn trophies/achievements while you jam on your guitar.

the actual notation of this song is terrible.
the chords are wrong and some of the notes are off are missing
tman2tuff 4 months ago
@tman2tuff Doesn't the lack of notes indicate that he hasn't maxed out his skill in the song? I believe the game omits until you get better; somebody correct me if I'm wrong. I'm assuming here but the notation from all of these songs had to have come from the band/record company .
I'm still waiting to buy this until I hear more about it
frogin8or 4 months ago
@frogin8or yeah, you are correct. The more you play, the more it shows you, and I've only played it twice at this point so the notes are still filling in for the parts where I'm playing it "right." As I said elsewhere, I just recorded it to get some vids up on here because there's a distinct lack of them. Ubisoft should really put some marketing dollars behind this one because it's more fun than playing on a fake guitar, at least to me.
adolson 4 months ago
@adolson thats been my biggest problem with picking this up. they limited the amount of exposure the game was getting. I didn't like the fact that they had "test lab" people playing it and posting videos it seemed to controlled. I appreciate you getting game play up! how responsive is the game to your playing?
frogin8or 4 months ago
@frogin8or it's very responsive. On the tuner, you can practically strum all the strings and it'll pick out the frequencies correctly. It tracks way better than my Pitch Black tuner pedal, but I've heard it's not as fast as the PolyTune. In any case, it really works and I'm not experiencing debilitating lag despite using optical audio rather than the recommended analog audio, which was my biggest fear before buying the game.
adolson 4 months ago
@adolson I thought I read on the rocksmith page that they recommend Optical as the best source of audio... i actually just set mine up that way last night. Figured, I might as well be ahead of the game if I'm going to pick it up. I think the only way audio would be better would be with a short digital coaxial, but 360 doesn't have that output. as far as lag goes with playing a string and there being a delay... how noticeable is it?
frogin8or 4 months ago
@frogin8or hmm, well, the info included in the game didn't even mention optical, from what I recall. Anyhow, I don't even notice any lag when I'm playing a song, really only in amp mode, but it isn't bad at all. But it's dependent on your system, too. I put my PS3's HDMI video output (component when capturing) and audio via optical into my Denon receiver and set the audio delay to 0 (I used to have it at about 40ms to fix slightly out-of-sync audio due to my cheap Sanyo LCD).
adolson 4 months ago
I'm wondering this too.

How is this game overall? I'm really curious to buy it
StraightEdgeNate 4 months ago
@StraightEdgeNate I really am having a blast with it. it's a little barebones or bland in the presentation, but being able to sit on my couch and earn PSN trophies while playing my guitar, that's pretty awesome. I think newbies could probably learn to play guitar with it, but it's really hard to say because I've played for years (not very good at it anyhow, but still).
adolson 4 months ago
@adolson cool thanks for the info man. i will probably end up buying it cause it looks really fun.
