@ultimatemater dunno if you still using yo yos since your comment is from a year ago. But if you can't get yo yo gloves try "driving gloves' they tend to be tight leather. Also old school tip is to get put a band-aid around your finger, or tape, but band aid is better.

yo-yos have different axle types..so it all depends...ball bearing is used to sleep for a long period of time...i would prefer ball bearing but a beginner should try the F.A.S.T yo -yo being able to change the different axle types will help you practice...once you advance a little more, you can try the ball bearing....
