I've yet to find anything like this up in Washington State. I really need to put this place on my list if I ever travel down your way Betty. We have some chain restaurant buffets up here, but they don't look nearly as good as this place you all went to. Great vid as always. @nadeeyaafiza Chelsea teaches online courses for Eastern Kentucky University in the Department of Homeland Security. She has a Master's degree in Loss Prevention and Safety, and the online teaching that she does is perfect for her, because it allows her to do most of her work from home.

@jayyochim Yes, all students at Berea College earn their tuition by doing a job for about 10 hours a week. So, most of the staff at Boone Tavern are students from Berea College. (Berea College owns and operates Boone Tavern.)

Hi Betty! You all looked great! The food looked scrumptious. Liked the nice drive also. I do have a question I hope you can answer for me. I noticed those black wooden fences again and I passed through Lexington once yrs ago & noticed them then as well. Why do they paint them black? Everywhere else I have been including in my state the fences are white. I am wondering if there is a particular reason they make them black there? ((Hugs)) Angie

@kokonutbaby1 Rick here--I'm answering because tears ago, a friend of mine worked during the summers as a fence painting contractor. White used to be the color of choice to be sure, and many a horse farm around here sported miles of brilliant white fences. However, like everything else it seems, the time and expense just got to me too much. You can spray a tough, very long-lasting black coating quicky, easily, and much cheaper than painting white, and it lasts longer. It's an economy thing.

@00missmv00 Spoon bread is a cornmeal-based bread. It is meant to be eaten with a spoon.  I have two spoon bread recipes in bettyskitchen, in case you would like to see what goes into it and what it is like when it comes out of the oven. (One of the recipes is Boone Tavern's recipe.) Spoon bread is one of my family's favorite dishes. It is distinctively Southern.

i just love looking at the landscape near where you live. those winding roads and nice green landscape with those little fences look so nice. it has such a homey and uncrowded feel to it. here in florida we have lots of grass and trees but its so square and doesnt feel the same at all. everything is completely flat and there are no turns or open spaces. all the buildings have a nice old style feel to them that i really like. all your restaurants are interesting as well. lots of lodging types.

We have a restaurant similar to that one here in Georgia, called Blue Willow Inn. I've eaten there twice in the past. They have different southern dishes. But I must say Boone Tavern had a much wider selection and looked like it had more space than Blue Willow Inn here in GA. And I must say the food looked very delicious!.
