You should give the bots a set of things they know, want to know, and want to tell.

Like the bots should want to say their name, and ask about anothers name.

Basically, if a newly met bots name data is empty, then the bot has motivation to ask.

Also, allow desire drifting every round.

Oh, and perhaps give random starting values, so sometimes one of them would ask, or offer their name, while the other responds.

This would prevent looping, along with maybe allowing memory loss

I would not call a "word list" program AI. Most of the so called AI's are just stupid word lists...

Why not make a AI that uses a free dictionary to find out, sort of, the meaning of the sentence, and use Google as a tool to search responses or similiar context for the sentence that must be replied..?

And then combine speech recognition, AI and text to speech to make a real fun AI :)

"Fortune Cookie sentences are inserted randomly to make the conversation more interesting." I had to do that to prevent the lookup on endless loops of the same question and answer. So in reallity this thing does not work without doing some intervention between the bots.
