Actually, I was wrong about Neil Diamond not having any MCA singles. His live version of "Cherry, Cherry" from "Hot August Night" was released as a single on MCA. And after he left, MCA put out at least one more single of older material, his version of Tom Paxton's "The Last Thing On My Mind", from the 1971 "Stones" album. His previous label, Bang, also did this after he left and went on to bigger and better things.
Excellent! Why did I never here of Sunny & Phyllis before? Love, Love... puts me in a much better mood, but they are taking me where they intended. Great group!!
@jimarojfm I don't have the record in front of me at the moment, but I believe Love Love Love is the flipside of this one too. I have seen 2 different label spellings of Sunny/Sonny.
@NcicHit2 Best as I can remember the first time I saw a UNI label was either Strawberry Alarm Clocks - Incense and Peppermints or the Foundations - Baby Now That I've Found You late 67 early 68. I like the label design also.
@whopfrog2 The first Uni single I ever saw was "That Acapulco Gold" by the Rainy Daze in the spring of 1967. I believe the 2nd one was "Incense and Peppermints" later that year. Uni had a lot of eclectic acts, some of which, including the Foundations, were licensed from overseas, but they also had three budding superstar singers - Neil Diamond, Elton John, and Olivia Newton-John. I had never heard or heard of this one before. And, yes, it was the Uni label that made me click on it.
@whopfrog2 I know for a fact that Uni, Kapp, Decca, and various smaller labels owned by MCA were combined into the MCA label in late 1972 or early 1973. I think that the first album released by MCA was "Hot August Night" by Neil Diamond and that the first MCA single was "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John. Uni had one or two rebirths in the 1980s, 1990s, or 2000s. Coincidentally, Neil Diamond's already-announced departure from Uni to Columbia caused him to not have any MCA singles.

I like UNI's label. CD's don't have good labels.

@rslitman I am guessing it phased out by the mid-70's. I can't think of any after 1972 or 73 on UNI.
