@MrSoapywater1 hmm then youre listening to the wrong ones. you could listen to metal that is well 30% screaming and 70% realy awesome singing. (that genre is called post hardcore)
Otherwise there are alot of bands that dont scream, for exampler metallica or megadeth.

-The New stuff from Escape the Fate
- Everything from Killswitch engage
I personally enjoy screaming, but it has to be a good screamer though.

I grew up listening to all kinds of music (rap, rock, metal, punk, R&B) but was closer to the rock scene (friends and neighborhood I grew up in). I'm half black and latino (dads black), dad didn't mind at all, but some of my black friends at school wasn't cool with it, lol. This was during the 90s, mixed neighborhood/school. Hopefully your mom is more open minded. Music should be bout color.

Oh, yeah. We are not genetically programmed to listen to a specific musical genre. That's dumb. Why restrict yourself to that? I let my kids listen to whatever they want and they are like me. Wide range of musical taste.
