I'm so fortunate to live in Britain where civil unions have been legal for 6 years now. My beautiful 'wife' and I got hitched a couple of months ago - initially for legal protection in case of serious illness, but the psychological impact has been astonishing. It's such a wonderful feeling which makes me glow with warmth and pride inside and I love hearing/seeing the reaction of strangers whenever I mention my 'marital status'- ALWAYS POSITIVE...so much for the 'United' States of America !

But of course "equal" marriage is a reality in Canada now, and the world hasn't ended. I guess it wasn't so terrible after all. Nice smooch at the end. I remember the first time a man kissed me.
