  • @zcsnow what are you smoking? Everts Air Cargo has ~5. I see the DC-6s all the time.

  • For the people who doesn't Know Mitu and Villavicencio are 2 cities in my Country Colombia

  • holy crap what a foking beast

  • What a time capsule this is.

  • oh kacke, das is das paradies, aber wo? that's a f***in' paradise, where is it

  • One is still operating in Canada as an airtanker, Conair 450.

  • The noise from the engines is deafening. How did passengers cope with all the loud, thundering noise?

  • @ThomasAUSTRALIA1 Well they didn't have the door open for a start. Basically, this plane is shot to pieces and is now probably in a million bits covering a few square miles of the Amazon jungle.

  • Cool!! Me encanta lo!!

  • Love that Pratt & Whitney sound starting at 2:40, to hell with jet noise.Thought most of these planes were long gone, guess not. Long live old piston planes.

  • Oh wow, instant transport to the 1950's!U know for an old bird like that she got in the air very quickly.Nice DC-3's in the background too!!

  • Wonderful!

Have you noticed, that flaps are put in take-off mode only just prior to lift-off, presume to reduce drag during acceleration, is that correct?

  • "Good neighbor" policy is to start and taxi with full flaps down to minimize oil and crap from being blown back on neighboring aircraft. Normal operation is for 20 degrees of flap set prior to run-up. I seriously doubt that the pilot in this video "forgot" ... my only thought would be as you suggested, this was done to reduce drag early in the takeoff run to accelerate a bit faster.

  • @oskarbider99 No, that was a last minute discovery by the rookie pilot, whose first day it was. Lucky to have cleared the end of the runway.

  • For your basic services in Alaska and South America, there are no airplane like your big Douglas transports to get the job done.

  • lol i guarentee we dont have a single DC-6 up here in alaska.. maybe one or two but they are definitely outdated in the U.S. We use 737s mostly...smaller prop aircraft in the villages..

  • When and where was this video recorded? I thought DC-6's didn't fly any longer.

  • It was in 2000. They still fly in Alaska and the UK.
