  • All those countries were part of Persian Empire back in the day! So this is a Persian event which countries like Afghanistan celebrate today as well because they were part of Persia

  • This is not an Iranian culture, it is celebrated in more than 10 countries and 300million people celebrate it all over the world. I don't care if he congratulates or not, but he should not attach this ancient festival just to Iran.

  • He's a long-legged mac daddy. Down with this zionist paid negro prostitute.

  • bought off zionist president. down with zionism!

  • اوباما؛ اوباما؛ مرگ به نیرنگ تو، خون مردمان ما میچکد از چنگ تو

  • Obama, no more talks with a government that steals the election and kills and torture it's own people. Help the people of Iran to liberty and democracy by not recognizing the Islamic government.

  • 666

  • Obama ROCKS

  • how about 40 mil kurdish ppl?

  • hum

    usa is great....................

  • What does the last part mean on english?

  • Holy shit! He just said "Happy New Year" in Farsi.

Feels kinda weird having a president that doesn't embarrass the hell out of the country every time he opens his mouth.

  • My thoughts exactly!

  • YES yes it is a very strange feeling, and he can properly pronounce his words and i think he knows what they mean......OMG..

  • Happy New Year

  • HAPPY NEW YEARS

  • eyde shoma mobarak in english it means happy new eve or happy new year, persians have different calendar they have nou rooz instead of Christmas

  • thats my brotha =D

  • PERSIAN EMPIRE is Coming soon

best wishes for my Lovely IRAN (PERSIA)

  • Ahh, so you are an imperialist! I thought so.

  • i know obama is great man like khatami but iam realy sad that president of iran is stupid man like ahmadinezhad

  • He is not stupid. He is trying to save face and also he has a legit. demands like the frozen assets and co on. Please read the response of the Mula Man, LOL . I mean Kahmenei

  • Just seperate Iranian people, with the current regime. they are Arab! and not Persian.

  • when did iran support terror? show me an example !!

But USA is always supporting the Taliban and Al-Ghaedah and all the terrorists

  • As I said, the USA is not always right. But Iran is not always right either. What is your evidence that the US is supporting the Taliban and Al-Qaeda? Iran supports Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and al-Aksa Martyrs. Khomeini supported terrorism including fatwas on citizens of other countries. I like Iran and want peace between all of us. Mistakes have been made by all of us. But, the way forward is through peace, love and understanding.

  • Comment removed

  • what the hell are you talking about? are u really blind to politics of iran or you're just one of their supporters who doesn't think mullah's are god sent??!

  • Dialog cannot work with the Islamic mindset. Obama is naive when it comes to understanding the nature of evil. It was the biblical prodigal son that went back to the father and asked for forgiveness. Obama should not have written a letter to a regime preoccupied with bringing about the end of the world. Obama`s overtures is belittling of the office f the presidency. I love Obama as a black man but I also think his naiveness may actually encourage terrorist regimes rather than hinder them.

  • I am very sorry to say that dialog cannot work with a leader who is a religious fanatic and who thinks that he is on a mission to destroy he US and Israel in order to herald the return of the Islamic messiah called the Mahdi. No one believed Hitler when he threatened to wipe out the Jews before 1945. Do you think those Islamic leaders in Iran would not do the same if they get the bomb?

Do you think Hitler would not have used the bomb?

  • Nice gesture!

  • javab baraye kasai ke migan mardom bayad khodeshun tasmim begiran: mardom khodeshun tasmim gereftan ba ray dadan mardom entekhab kardan ki barashun tasmim begire age hame bekhan nazar khodeshuno began hamash bayad jange dakheli tu keshvar pish biad!! namayande haye majles o... hamintory ke entekhab nashodan they were chosen by PPL!!

  • The leaders of IR of iran should use from this realitionship oppurtunity between two nation and goverments

  • che khob :)

  • bullshit

  • My problem with him is this: he's supposedly "reaching out" to Iranians.

And yet he makes unsubstantiated accusations (Iran exporting terror and arms).

He completely absolves the US of any blame in the current state of US-Iranian relations ("if you unclench your fist...")

He claims that Iran must give up their supposed hegemonic interests while his own country is occupying two countries (and allies with a country who periodically invades Gaza).

  • LONG LIVE OBAMA !!!!

  • Very nice,In human history, very few times and very few people rise up from no where to represent and make difference to the well being of common man.

In a world hungry for a CHANGE, Obama defies all odds.

What ever their response, you already check mated them.

  • Thank you Barack! Hope Iranians get rid of Islamic fascism soon...

  • kharabe in vid hastama..hahaha ;-p

  • I have watched this 10 times. It is surreal. The first world leader to acknowledge Iran in a positive way in a long time. Thank you Obama. Now I wish to see you in Iran so that you can experience the famous, genuine Iranian hospitality.

  • Thank you Obama!

This means a lot to us Iranians :)

  • great, hopeful words spoken by a man having a great potential of being the greatest American president, Mr. Obama.

  • Very nice of mr president to pay attention to us and all iranian MUST thank him for his kind words , but BikhaB hates it when he aGain & aGain says Islamic RepaBlic of Iran , IRAN is a beautiful name ,no Title needed .

  • Maybe Iran's leaders will respond differently tomorrow than they did today.

  • I love obama...He is the best..

  • luvvv obama fuck bush!!

  • The beginning of all works is by understanding.

    Anyone who knows, and knows that he knows, Makes the stead of intelligence leap over the vaults of heaven;

    Anyone who does not know, but knows that he does not know, Can bring his lame little donkey to the destination nonetheless;

Anyone who does not know, and does not know that he does not know, Is stuck for ever in double ignorance.

    Poem by Nasir-od-Din Tusi(1201-1274)

from valuable book "Iran, Empire of the Mind" by Michael Axworthy.

  • haha i l0ve tha last part

  • So kind of Obama and such a nice mesage. Happy Npwruz and Spring to all. I am very proud of Obama :)

  • i hope this message is going to change something for peace. i am a Turkish but i want so much that America, İran an the other countries will be live in peace. war is not a solution of any thing. all people must live in their country in peace and everbody senses that ,on the world, it can be live like a human. Obama is a great man, he is a big president. if he will go on like that human's history write his name with golden letters. His duty is very diffucult but i believe him.

  • Finally, we have a President that understands the concept of diplomacy.........نوروزتان پیروز، سالم ایران!

  • great job. in the hope for a good relationship.

  • I have great respect for Iran/Persian culture and civilization. Much more than to Rome for example. Romans were barbarians and murderers if you look world history from a neutral point of view.

    Greetings from Finland. Happy Norooz!

  • Happy norooz to you too :)

  • ohhh sweet. thanks a lot. happy norooz to you too.

  • Nowruz, Terror, Iran :))

    and I am Godzilla

and nowruz is the first day of the american war against Iraq.

Happy Nowruz to americans too. Let's see what kind of peace YOU offer.

  • A peace with nuclear weapons being phased out of existence and a permanent democratic Iraq that is open to the world. As for Iran, life is too short to hate each other. If Iran has no malicious intention towards anyone then I don't see an enemy, I see a people just like me who values family, heritage, and the dream of a brighter future.

The question is, what does IRAN offer to reassure that these goals will be met. Mr. Obama has his arms open to Iran. How does Iran respond in kind?

  • Nourooz pirooz be...to all Iranians all over the world! All the way from Tajikestan, Uzbekistan to kurdistan of Turkey and Iraq. We will once again live united and as one! Dast Xosh

  • Long live the 8,000-year-old native Aryan tribes of West & Central Asia (Turks, Persians, Turkemans, Kurds, Khorasanis, Parthians, Uzbeks, Baluchs, Tajiks, Lors, Azeris, Hazaras, Bakhtiaris, Gujratis, etc.). The 500-year-old artificially-forced evil division of motherland: "IRAN" ("Land of Aryans") into "nations" is about to self-implode. Down with evil "Divide&Rule" policy of anti-human Zionists & NEOCOS, components of US Weapons industry.

  • You are lovely :)

  • vaghean zibaa,, che ehterami va cheghadr ghoror amiz,, va bad ma dar keshvaremon rahbaray nayaleghi mesle AHMADINEJAD darim.......thank you Mr President

  • iran has never supported any terror

pls do not repeat this bushes and israeli allegations towards iran

    iran has not destructed

instead, iran is the victim of terror and has been under massive attack and destruction by us and israeli backed saddam

how can iranians easily forget killing of one and a half million people by us backed saddam??

usa has a long list of destructive action against iran

and mr obama still accuses iran indirectly to be a destructive power

  • The U.S. isn't a country that runs with the same policies in place year after year. With each new president comes new ways of running the country. What the U.S. may or may not have done in the past cannot be blamed on an entire nation, but the people who made the orders. Your grievance is with people who are no longer in power, and different presidential administrations.

You need to change how you view the U.S. if you hope understand it. It evolves contantly.

  • dear warlord,

the only word here is "forgiveness"

yes iranians can and will forgive

but it is only possible when we see that americans do not repeat what they did before, they must show they regret what they did, not only with words

then u will see we will be like brothers

    by the way

americans "are" responsible for what american politicians do to other contries

  • I just know more poems from Saadi. He also says: any word and point (even if right) has it's place to be said. I don't think leaders of the world used words like slavery in their congratulation message to mr. Obama. If Obama says Change it means that He accepts the previous administration's faults, so He must act first. If not so, then Iranians or other people also can say ok just wait for our next leaders. This way never ends.

All Can see the changes anywhere, if there is any.

    Peace

  • the u.s. is a democracy and while they are not responsible for everything their leaders do, they are more responsible than other non-democratic countries.

  • We all have to be willing to look at mistakes we have made. Americans and Iranians. The US has made mistakes and so has Iran. What if I said, "We Americans have never supported any terror?" Would you believe that? Why should I find your statement that Iran has never supported terror to be believable? Are you willing to criticize Iran or only the United States? Another question: do you think Israel has a right to exist?

  • @ huckfinn:

do you think Israel has a right to exist?

do you think sowjetunion has a right to exist?

do you think east germany has a right to exist?

do you think yugoslavia has a right to exist?

    .......

    .......

do u understand what i mean????

  • I do not understand what you mean.

  • do u support ethnic cleansing??

that is how israel is established: through ethnic cleansing

or u belive palestinians left their homeland freely?

there are millions of palestinian refugees who are not allowed to go back to palestine, their homeland, this is a break of international law and humanitarian law

    israel was established unlawfully

the united nations does not have the mandate to take land from its inhabitants (palestinians) and give away to others (armed immigrant jews)

  • No, I don't support ethnic cleansing. I wish we could go back in time and right the wrongs done to the Palestinians. I really do. The legitimacy of almost every modern state has some questionable aspects. The USA was formed by taking the land away from the Indians. We also took land from Mexico. I should know more about the history of Iran, but I imagine there have been border disputes over the years. Look at Europe as well, not to mention Africa, Asia. Palestinians and Israelis must compromise.

  • dear, this is the way zionists try to justify themself, pls do not fall into their falsifications!!!

u cannot compare american history with today palestine

world community has humanright norms that did not exist at that time

    we are talking about 20th and 21st century not 16th 17th 18th or 19th

but i agree with u, palestinians and israelis must compromise, 99% belong to israeli and 0,000001 % to palestinians, difference is the buffer zone , security zone between them ...

    is that just???

  • I think we agree on a lot actually. You are right there is much injustice. My main point is we have to go forward. If you were a Jew and had been born in Israel and now your children lived in Israel...how would you feel? We can't go back and undo the past. Palestinians must also renounce violence toward Israel. Yet, we still have many (not all of course) Muslims who want Israel to disappear. They rejoice when Jews are killed. This has to stop. All religions must be respected.

  • what i mean is very simple: no country has a natural right to exist

it is the will of people which makes a country exist or not

in case of israel, it is upon the will of its inhabitants to decide what should happen

any other option is unlawfull !

so according to humanitarian law and international law let the palestinian refugees back to their homeland and let them (even together with jews) decide what they want

  • @ huckfinn

when did iran support terror? show me an example !!

  • I think I understand. Everything Iran does is good. Iran is a great country. I have many friends from Iran and I have a lot of respect for your culture and people. I just wish that the people of Iran could be truly free to choose their government. I am not trying to say that everything the USA does is right. It isn't. But I think you should admit that Iran is supporting Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, al-Aksa Martyrs and their often violent activities. I wish Iranians freedom and happiness.

  • @ huckfinn

israel is not a matter of what i want or what u want, it is a clear case:

israel is established by force, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity .....

there is no legal basis to legitimize israel

so if u say israel has a right to exist cause usa supports them i say ok, but if u say israel has a right to exist according to international law i say "u are not right"

  • Israel does have a right to exist according to international law. What law are you referring to? Israel is a member of the UN. It isn't a question of the USA supporting Israel's right to exist. I am very sorry that the Palestinians have suffered. But, the way forward is through peace and a two-state solution. So I ask again: are you willing to compromise and to recognize Israel and to help form a Palestinian state. Compromise is the only way forward.

  • We can't go back in time. There have been many wrongs done to the Palestinians. But, Israel is now a legitimate country and Israelis have rights too. Do you support the violence of Hamas and Hezbollah against Israelis? If the Muslim world would recognize Israel and compromise then we would have peace. We must have a two state solution. It's not a perfectly just solution, but both sides must compromise. The Palestinians always walk away from the table. If you were Israeli how would you feel?

  • it is ironical:

u accuse palestinians things that jews do!!!

or u think the world is blind

    "never forget never forgive"

    who is always repeating this??

u are right, one should be merciful, should be able to forget and forgive

i wish, u advised first jews then palestinians and moslems

there are millions of palestinian refugees, they have right to go back home

they are human beeings, zionists does not want to accept that, that is an ongiong crime it is not past, it is not history!!

  • Yes, I agree: we shouldn't forget the injustices on both sides. But, we have to be pragmatic. I don't want you to think I'm not sorry for the Palestinians. I just recognize that the only way forward is to compromise. This means the Israelis give up something and the Palestinians give up something. If we keep going back and saying Israel shouldn't exist and is illegitimate, well it won't work. The Israelis will defend what they have. Hamas, Hezbollah, etc. must recognize Israel's rights. Do they?

  • right of palestinian refugees to go back home is undesputable

  • The right of Israel to exist is now indesputible. If we want to continue to see suffering then Hamas and Hezbollah should keep refusing to recognize Israelis' rights to any land. Their reason for being is to attack Israel! If they say, "Enough. We will work with the Israelis." Then we will have peace. Why should Israel trust Hamas and Hezbollah? So, if you want to continue to claim Israel is illegitimate...go ahead, but there will be no peace and in 20 years we can have this same discussion.

  • if u say israel is legitimate, you open door to rule of jungle. even if arabs recognize israel, as soon as they get the abilities, they will do the same as israel is doing now. they will delet israel with the same argumantation that israel has deleted palestine : rule of jungle.

so why we do not sit and put an end to the spiral of force

countries has to enter the age of international law and let the age of force behind

wish u all the best from iran

  • Baran,

you and i agree on a lot and I can tell you are a sincere person. I just sincerely think that we have to have a two-state solution. I hope we see peace soon. All the best from the USA.

  • israel has the right to exist but should we accept everything which comes by the name of israel? I think the regim of israel is contributing to most of instabilities in the region and i see few signs of reform inside it .

  • I respectfully disagree. There are 14 million Jews in the world and about 1.5 billion Muslims, yet if you talk to some Muslims they think the Jews and Israel are always the problem. Look at 9/11--many in the Muslim world STILL think the Jews or the CIA staged the attack!! How can they believe that? Israel is the reason for all the instability?!! Yes, because Muslim extremists won't accept it. If Hamas, Hezbollah and other extremists accept a two state solution we will have peace.

  • Events like this happen every day (and it is very sad for everyone--I know we all feel this). Is Israel to blame for this too? PESHAWAR, Pakistan, March 27, 2009 -- A suicide bomber detonated his explosives Friday in a crowded mosque in northwest Pakistan, killing at least 50 people and leaving more bodies buried in the rubble of the building, officials said.

  • Loveeeeeeeeeee you Obama

  • It was nice, but would have been nicer if the word "Terror" and "Iranian people" wasn't used together in a New-year's greeting.

    Norouz Mobaarak Mr. Obama.

  • true that.

  • Thank you, President Obama. Thank you! I'm speechless. God bless you. PEACE!

  • cooooollll..thanxx
