Can someone tell me why the house looks different now compared to how it looked when the murders took place in the 70's? eg. the windows are different and you cant see the chimney from the bottom to the top like in the movie

I have an original pic that I bought on Ebay with the original windows that was taken shortly after the murders. I would love to see the home for real but I heard the owners are very standoffish with the public.

It is a beautiful looking house,and I feel for the current occupants,knowing that random folk are turning up and taking film footage/photos of their home.But I guess they must've realised this would happen at the point they decided to buy it! Unless they're from outer-space and had no prior knowledge of the house's history,lol.

I've been in this house, I know previous owners, and it's just a house, a very beautiful house too. It has a terrible history but that's it. By the way I hear it's up for sale again.

How can anyone live in a house where such horrible murders happened? Not that there are ghosts or anything, but just the thought every time you come home. "Yep, this is where all those people were murdered". I think that takes a special kind of person to not think of that.

Sorry, but not even the creepy theme music can destroy the beauty and serene atmoshpere of this house. In real life it is very pleasant to look at. Now on a dark and stormy night, with only two windows glowing like eyes, I can't say...he he he. And how were you allowed to tape this? Is it a tourist attraction, or what? I thought there would be security around the place.

No they didnt use the actual house for the movie. The house used in the 1979 movie was built in New Jersey. And the 2005 movie was made in california. The real house is located in long island NY.

I think they did that so people wouldnt recognize the house as the amityville horroe house. Cause people still live there. It is a residence. So the people that live there dont want tourists and fans coming to their house.

yes. there are people living there now. its not like a museum or anything. Its just ur average home. But there have been no reports of strange occurences in the house since 1975.

No jodie wasn't a real victim. The ghost pig just called itself Jodie.But some people think the ghost pig was one of the sons killed in the house. If u r talking about the 2005 version most of that stuff was made up for hollywood. The 1979 version was alot more accurate, but it still had some flaws.
