When i got my braces off, he said where them 24/7 and whenever i tryed to say something its like im speaking another language, I only where it at night because i fell like an idiot in the daytime. If anyone want braces its just a waste of time and in the end you just have to wear a crappy retainer :(

my braces are scheduled to come off on the 28th and between two of my teeth theres a tiny tiny gap. I just got my braces off and when I first put my retainers on, the roof of my mouth begins producing so much excess saliva, does anyone else experience this problem? I keep having to swallow. I can't talk properly while wearing them as well. BTW, my orthodontist didn't give me a bottom retainer, I only have the top ones, I forgot to ask, but does that mean I only need the ones for the top?

@x360xgod Yes you need to take them out. If you eat with them you risk breaking the acrylic on them or tho whole retainer.

I am going to have both permanent and the other. That way I will only have to sleep with the one you can take out. My dentist told that they had perfectly as good results doing it that way. No movement.

Is there any way I could ask you to tell me what the difference between this type of retainer and a permanent retainer? I want to make an informed decision and my orthodontist isn't a very forthcoming guy. Smart? Yes. Knowledgable? Absolutely. But he really doesn't like answering questions. Could I ask you to differentiate the two types?

@DanWagner1234 permanent = bonded, glued in. they use gold or steel wire to splint teeth in the lingual site. from what i learned usually in anterior lower. not so much in the upper because it may interfere with your bite. i chose a Hawley for longevity and cost, hygiene is an issue for me so permanent retention is not my choice. Need to be able to use regular floss, get between teeth without any gadgets. Orthodontists i know are the same way as yours. Won't tell me any details.

Is there a way that I could get retainers without having to get braces again?, My upper teeth are not crooked but I want to bring my upper front teeth in, does the upper jaw move in too? @andrewcolinwilson, yes both Shauna and Angie are employees of Abari Orthodontics AND were both treated By Dr. Abari and Dr. WIll for their orthodontic work, which made them perfect candidates for these videos.

@hookaplz098..the kind of treatment your orthodontist or dentist told u about most likely is not an actualy retainer, but an appliance that is able to correct minimal movement. Regular retainers do just that, they"retain" your teeth in the position they are in.

@hookaplz098 Not usually, minor problems like this when braces aren't needed to be used, I think the type of retainer you got was an invisible aligner is what we call invisalign.

Angie is wearing her retainers regualarly and her teeth are looking Great! As long as the patient is wearing them as instructed to prevent any movement then there is no need for a follow up appointment for tightening. It is very crucial also that any patient places and removes the retainer as instructed to prevent the wire from bending. Patients are also advised not to play with the retainers with their tongues (like alot of patients do). This can also causing bending of the wire

@DaphneSnoopy no, you do not wear your retainer while eating.. when chewing it can apply too much pressure to your retainer and cause it to break.
