it has nothing to do w/ "sophistication" ....they are 2 different combat sports.....MMA involves boxing, but also wrestling, Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, etc.....they are both great sports which both require a high level athlete w/ tons of training.....there is no denying MMA is a far more complete combat sport which resembles an actual fight far more than boxing....
MMA does include many things that are very difficult to learn but in no way again is it like a street fight, any combat sport with rules will never be like a street fight, on the street anything gos, i dont see MMA fighters picking up a rock and bashing guys in the head or stomping their head off a curb, i respect MMA and Boxing i DONT respect "street fighters" fighting on the street acomplishes nothing, these guys make money and provide valuable entertainment.

I agree RRJ was the reason I got into boxing and I think he kinda stayed out of the spotlight Tyson was always in trouble and Ali was just the Star of his time but I think Jones did pretty damn good to not be as popular as he should of been.
He made the mistake of moving up to Heavyweight then coming back down that late in his career that's why he lost to Tarver and Johnson. The cutting of weight plus age is tough. Still doesn't take away from the fact that in his prime he was the greatest P4P boxer of all time, his skill was extraordinaire you'll never see anything like him again.

MMA does include many things that are very difficult to learn but in no way again is it like a street fight, any combat sport with rules will never be like a street fight, on the street anything gos, i dont see MMA fighters picking up a rock and bashing guys in the head or stomping their head off a curb, i respect MMA and Boxing i DONT respect "street fighters" fighting on the street acomplishes nothing, these guys make money and provide valuable entertainment.

i dont think mma will last much longer man u cant really have a big or long fan base cuz its alot easier to lose a fight and get looked at like a shot fighter or over rated u know but i do respaect the sport..but i see it more like a show rather than a serious sport...no disrespect

the next big think in MMA???? man there are a ton of great fighters out there......Gegard Mousasi is about as exciting a fighting prodigy as u can get......as far as fights go in the future??? id love to see Fedor/Brock like everyone else.....Anderson Silva/henderson rematch would be awesome.....BJ Penn vs. any of the top Dream LW's would be great fights.....

Gegard Mousasi is a huge up and comer, as for fights there are still plenty of huge fights left, Anderson Silva vs Vitor Belfort is going to be a great fight, BJ Penn vs Diego Sanchez will be a great fight, Shogun vs Machida will be a great fight, and there are lots more. Im not trying to bash boxing because I am a fan, but MMA is here to stay.

@MFBueno63 Imagine if you were a talented athlete, what would you do, step into an obscure sport like mma, that isn't even mainstraim, and there is hardly any money. Or try and become a superstar like Roy Jones Jr and go to boxing or some other mainstream sport? Yes, the best athletes are not in mma but in other sports. Most mma pro's have daytime job cause there is no money. Steroid freak Lesnar starts mma at 33 years old and 2 fights later he's champ. Let him try that in boxing...

Well all roy jones needs to do is 2 yrs max bjj and learn to leg check big whoop, anderson silva would not even be able to see his hands with ufc mits or catch him, no one can stay in the box like pro boxers, you don't see any ufc guys slipping puches as fast these guys to. and I have fought in both... anderson silva is good but not like these guys, its a different level of reflexes that boxers have... do somee bjj and leg checks and knock that man out without your 12 ounce gloves on booom.

I agree RRJ was the reason I got into boxing and I think he kinda stayed out of the spotlight Tyson was always in trouble and Ali was just the Star of his time but I think Jones did pretty damn good to not be as popular as he should of been.

He made the mistake of moving up to Heavyweight then coming back down that late in his career that's why he lost to Tarver and Johnson. The cutting of weight plus age is tough. Still doesn't take away from the fact that in his prime he was the greatest P4P boxer of all time, his skill was extraordinaire you'll never see anything like him again.
