Besides, Neil is a golden improv comic. And a show like "The Middle," more suited for him. Neil... left the Janitor.

I agree it finished well, but far out it had to finish...those characters had run their course by the end of season 3. The writing was struggling after that to maintain the same standard largely because there wasn't much left to do with the characters. The show became too derivative, self-aware and full of cliches. But that's just like my opinion, man.
I miss the janitor but I think the show has improved greatly with the new leads. Lucy's real likeable, Cole annoys the other characters consistently and Drew and Denise are great together. Dr. Cox is also still as awesome as ever.
