can i have the timecodes running back into a normal physical mixer so i can have like so i can use the crossfader and eqs? using the software is fiddly, as in, you can only be so fast with one finger haha.
just to clarify, my mixer is that gemini 3 channel one with the basic fx section. so it defo has no midi capabilities
@manfork Thats what I do. Just hook up your soundcard to your computer, and run those into your mixer. If you want effects from traktor, you can get a small midi controller too.
@njoubert you didnt understod my question: we paly in 2 i use 2 channels of the sound card by using traktor and my friend plugs his mpd in his computer but he sound card is pluged via usb into my computer so i wanted to plug hi mpd trought the midi I/O directly to the sound card is it possible ? ( both have the midi I/O sound card and mpd)
well i would like to use traktor scratch pro whit my audio 8 sound card , and here come my question i would like to plug into the same sound card a akai mpd26 ( i sue traktor whit 2 deks only) and the mpd is used by my friend.
i want to plug this mpd via usb into my friends macbook and use the midi i/o out of the mpd to connect it to the sound card and from there to the mixer. is it possible ? or do i need a second sound card?plz help me ;)
@UtubeHUNTER99 I use a setup kinda like this - I have an audio DJ 4 and a MPD32 both hooked up to traktor. You don't actually hook up the MPD to the Audio card - the MPD hooks up directly to your computer through USB, and you map that to traktor controls, then the sound card also connects to the computer through USB and hooks up to your mixer and/or turntables/CDJs.
so, the MPD does not hook up to the audio card, it doesn't work like that, they both just hook up to the computer, that's doable.
i got mine last weekend, and it is AMAZING, i have tried serato, virtual dj, pro audio, but traktor is the best, if you dont have all the big money yet, you can start out with duo, but if you want to wait a little longer and get the best, get pro, but in all, traktor is an amazing software, personal opinion *it is the best on the market*
i love this whole program. Got mine about a month ago and Im addicted. Sound quality is far superb to Serato Imo. Im falling behind in school because of this, that the only bad thing about it. If you're deciding between this and serato, get Traktor hands down.
@LivinNostalgia ill tell you the basics here, the audio 8 interface is a soundcard that you plug your turntables (technics 1210 but you can use any turntable you want) into your conputer, if your using an external mixer you have to plug from the output on your audio 8, you plug your 1 turntable, which shuld be on the left side of your mixer and go from output 1&2 to your input on your mixer and your 2nd turntable from 3&4 on the audio 8 soundcard to the mixer input.

@mixmatt69 About $500.00 I bought mine at The Guitar Center in Rancho.. CA..
Traktor Scratch Pro..is definitely alot more complicated than the other VSS Systems.. But if you understand djing...(beatmatching.. the oldskool way..) then traktor is for you.....you get tons of effects.. and most importanly for me 4 turntables.. is a must...
@ltitruck12 I currently have a DJM 800 and a pair 1200's (old old school ones..) and the new cdj 2000 in my set.. i run Traktor Scratch Pro... and upgrade from my traktor studio and scratch.. and in the side i have ableton suit 8...
@ djdumbbi. the bridge is just to get people to buy mor stuff. i had my ableton 8 synced up with torq like yaer before the bridge came out and i had all the effects i ever wanted with torq without having to buy a 250 controler like i did with serato. I sank way more into serato alone then i did for the xponent w/ torq and ableton live box suite. there are some features that i like with the bridge but. torq is bomB!
I Have a bit of a problem...I bought traktor scratch pro with the audio 2Dj. and i am trying to scratch the vynil it just makes a awful beeping sound during all the vynil. the song that i load on the deck plays on the mixer but does not control on the decks. Can you help me please?
@djpacu im kinda trying to work out some stuff on here, i dunno if serato is better but my mate had it and now he's switching to traktor. shout about serato on a serato please. all this hype is wasting space for people with questions about traktor. no offence intended
TS Pro has the 4 external mixing were you can load 4 tracks at once and control them all with your CDJ's or Tables's or midi dj controller and that feature is absolutely excellent just another heads up.
@mario4801 do i have the option to use mp3`s on me turntables like serato does and then change to a virtual dj system and then just use me laptop to control everythin?
Truthfully i cannot compare trakto and serato because both are very VERY formidable audio interfaces i have both SL3 and audio 8 dj and I love using both of them but i find myself using traktor A LOT more than SL3 because when it comes to versatility and accessibility traktor is were its at then again people have their opinions but in all essense they are both very very exceptional but i like traktor MUCH better
Serato is way better.... I first bought the SL1 and I loved it!!!! Then I bought the SL3 and im loving it more!!!! Works with no problems sounds great less cables simple and so much you can do music mixing with serato software!
But When Video Mixing I prefer the SL1 because I can work with Virtual Dj and use the video advantages for free plus!!! If you have Karaoke songs you can use that as well and projected on the screens!
I use serato and I love it!! I chose serato because I like the interface better but at the same time I know people who use traktor and they tell me that traktor has more features. I dont think you can go wrong with either tho..
I am new to time-coded vinyl. through i have used ''intimidation touch time-coded vinyl'' it worked great for first 6months but it sounds not nice nd cuts out (thruogh it brings into a whole new world of possible audio, i am never going back to vinyl ever again) going to gdt tracktor scratch duo
hey guys, im wondering is there a big diference between traktor pro and rane serato scratch live? whitch one do u believe is better, for sound quality, what has what and wether its worth buying it .
what do u guys think cuz im looking at buying one of these programs
I use it too and for me it's the best thing to do because I can use the music I buy in iTunes and Beatport straight away. I just don't have to burn CDs and mess aroung with them and I also don't have to carry around Vinyl. All I do is conntct the MIDI controller and start off mixing, that's a big plus for me.
i have been using traktor pro for awhile now and wants to up grade to traktor scratch.i recently bought all of the components for the upgrade and install them but i cannot get the cd player to control the software even though i have the timecode cds.can some1 explain how i can fix this?
You can't use timecode control by just buying the components separately. You have to have the dvs plug-in which comes with a complete traktor scratch package. You should be able to get it from the Native-Instruments website, but unfortunately, you're gonna have to pay for it. Good luck.
hi there, i'm using traktor scratch pro, and i'm having trouble with the settings... i personalize my settings then import them..then when i close traktor and open it again it goes back to its original state, i try to use the import so i can use my personalize settings but it won't do it, it says error while parsing settings on import, what should i do?please, please, please help..thanks

If you're talking about your keyboard settings, then make sure you upload them for every soundcard that you have. Also try upgrading to the newest version by going on the Native Instruments website. Hope that helps...
i don't have any soundcard, just my laptop,no turntables..but i think i should by a souncard..anyway thanks for the help..mine is only a cracked version..hehe

this is preety cool but what i want to know is that i just got the Denon DN-s3700 and i use pro tools 8 and if i just plug this up like usb or whatever will i be able to use it on pro tools like an midi??
I just ordered the upgrade from LE to PRO. I cant wait to get my hands on it. I have been playing with the LE version for over a year now and started missing things. I need more FX and the possibility to play samples into my 2 running tracks.
I will film the "box opening" and put it on YT tomorrow.
Well i was gonna get Traktor scratch pro but since i needed some thing that was a all in one solution i went with the ssl/ttm57sl! i will most likely get traktor sp later!
hey do i have go have the interface to run the time codes or can i use my asio sound card? does anyone know ? i thinking i might have to buy the audio 4 or 8 , please let me know ,,,, one love yall , KASHTRO SOUND KARTEL
this is top of the line so i guess ill spend my 300 sum's worth for it. i need a software for my pioneer setup to put on my computer and later for a laptop for gigging. is it a simple usb connection aside from the two cd's to put in cdj's and two records given and the rca cables?
I use traktor pro with a midi controller because turntables still jump from time to time, pain in the arse. I could use cdj's i guess but that would mean having to buy cdj's in order to practice.
Do you need a good mixer such as the djm 700 to work with this and cdjs? i have the software for traktor and want to use my cdjs to control it, do i need the djm and hardware? if so i need to start saving!!!
The diff GGchua is just the sound box it comes with the duo only has the audio4 and only has 2 outputs the pro comes with the audio8 wich can handle 4 channels thats the sound card the box J pulls out.
the main differences are the software can only do 2 decks instead of 4 (as well as the hardware limitation you mentined), and there's also less effects, less hotkey assignments in the software, and a bunch of other smaller things.
traktor scratch pro can manage 4 decks and it comes with the audio8 interface. traktor scratch duo can only manage 2 decks and this one comes with audio4 interface. i think these are the two big differences. check the homepage from native instruments for more informations ;-)
Hi, i was wondering if anyone knows if i can use a xone 1d with traktor scratch pro and a djm 600?
I reckon if i buy trakor i'll definitley need a midi controller for my extra two decks that will be available, does anyone know if this would be the right idea?
look i put it this way. i have both traktor and serato. i use traktor to make my mix cd's and serato when i'm djing a gig. in my opinion, i don't care what u use between all the software, hardware, programs or whatever man. if u can move the crowd with what ones these or whatever else u use, than u do the damn thing and stop making an issuse about these programs and what they do. one
Well, in all honesty, they are both good and reliable software. I can (and do) use both of them - as stated though, my personal choice has (for some time now) been Traktor.
wow thats crazy that a rumor has spread that traktor's updates are not free. traktor's online service center is better than anything serato can come out with. serato does't even have an online service center. also, all the djs in the club i work at always ask me if its true that traktor scratch has auto sync. where do ppl get these ideas?
Well... Native-Instruments has had a number of products in their traktor line. Of course, "gross-grading" from Traktor 3.3 to Traktor Scratch Pro 1.0 was not free. But those are two different products, and from what I've understood, there was a very competitively priced upgrade path available.
It's like Windows; if you have Windows 98 on your machine, you can't really expect to get a free upgrade to Vista? And when you get Vista, the upgrades during it's lifespan are free - same with Traktor...
It does..just go for traktor blindly and u wont regret it..almost half of todays world class djs use it and also recomend it..Carlcox,Richie Hawtin, loco dice,Paolo mojo and many others
well... i bought Torq and for me it was the best 300 dollars ever spent , easy as hell , friendly software and hardware , no more buying vynils and no more carrying :)
I have a question. There is some odd plug ins that i have no idea what are for. is there a special use for every single one?and what CAN I plug or can't plug?
I think Serato is the industry's best product of it's kind so far I've used Traktor on a couple of gigs it's pretty good but not as user friendly and simple as serato I think and it was heavier and harder on my PC the feel is close enough to serato but of course it's better than torq and stanton and numark those are just not good at all
what i would like to know is how much is this to buy? i have the programe on my pc but it needs unlocking...can anyone help me? i dont need all that hardware for what i do..i only create mixes to share online :)
Are you still going to be using turntables though? Or doing the mix just messing around with the settings via a mouse? If you're just using a mouse you can just get Traktor and there's some cheap "lite" versions of the program that come free with MIDI interfaces and the like. If you plan on using turntables with timecoded vinyl you do need to buy the whole package.
If you don't need the hardware you can get the standard Traktor Pro or Duo. They don't have timecode control but work with MIDI controllers, hotkeys or mouse. Traktor Pro (no Scratch) costs 199€ and Traktor Duo is out for 99€.
Also, Traktor gives you the flexibility to syncronize with midi controllers as well as CDJ/Turntable and MIDI sync with applications like Ableton as well.
I own both SSL and Traktor Pro. If you don't know how to mix by ear and you need to keep looking at the waveforms to make sure your in sync go with SSL..its a much easier interface to mix with....Having said that traktor has a sync button which can make matching bpm easy........if you spin hip hop and top 40 go with ssl....if your into house/techno/trance/etc go with traktor..the 4 decks with sync capabilities will free you up to be more creative....either way..you wont be disappointed. Cheers!
I must warn you about Traktor's recording... you have the possibility to "route back" what you're doing (from the mixer) and record that, but to make it clear... in earlier versions, Traktor had the possibility to record everything "that you were doing"; the exact moment you pressed play, the moment you modified the built-in eq (or fx or whatnot). With current TS/TSP this has been removed; based on comments from NI, it was not working well and they're intending to bring it back when it does...
I have Final Scratch 2 with Traktor 3 as my software. For those who are unfamiliar with final scratch, it was the collaboration between native instuments and stanton before the broke off their project in 2005. Anyways, problems with final scratch 2:
-out of date, no more support or patches
-bad library, playlist making function
-relatively bad interface for looping with time coded vinyls
but it was cheap, $170 used
i really want to see the improvements so keep making these videos j!
Yes, you can. Or... waitaminute - I see where you're going... No, you can't do that in "Traktor Scratch" (which is a discontinued ancient product at this time) but you can in "Traktor Scratch Pro" (the newborn baby of Native Instruments).
Yes, Traktor Scratch PRO has got 4 deck playback and mixing.
You don't need a turntable or CDJ for every of the 4 decks, though. You can access them with MIDI controllers, keyboard shortcuts or by simply using your mouse, as well.
I am a DJ with 10 years experience. I never reall took to CDJ's - i found them too fiddly and sensitive. So Traktor is a godsend. It's stable, the timecode is deadly accurate, and the Audio 8 sound quality is amazing. The software is good and user friendly too. I use this as i would a normal air of turntables - thats the beauty of Traktor though, you can make do as much or as little as you want it to do for you. It gives you total control.
The Audio8DJ does not work in Linux properly. The Serato is the way to go if you use Linux. Futhermore, Native Instruments out sources their Linux driver development and the one in charge of it isn't very active in development.
If you use Linux to DJ and want time coded vinyl/cd, go with Serato.
how much is it ?

I have a question about this product.
this my situation: I buy this whole package with the software and the interface and i combine it with my mixer and my two turntables.
My mixer, without the software, won't kill my High/Mid/Low frequencies totally, only till -16dB.
Am I able to kill all my frequencies totally when using Traktor Scratch Pro?

TS Pro has the 4 external mixing were you can load 4 tracks at once and control them all with your CDJ's or Tables's or midi dj controller and that feature is absolutely excellent just another heads up.
mario4801 2 years ago 2
@mario4801 do i have the option to use mp3`s on me turntables like serato does and then change to a virtual dj system and then just use me laptop to control everythin?

Hmm, serato 2.0 is 4 channel i believe.
SirSteppalot 1 year ago
Truthfully i cannot compare trakto and serato because both are very VERY formidable audio interfaces i have both SL3 and audio 8 dj and I love using both of them but i find myself using traktor A LOT more than SL3 because when it comes to versatility and accessibility traktor is were its at then again people have their opinions but in all essense they are both very very exceptional but i like traktor MUCH better
mario4801 2 years ago
Serato is way better.... I first bought the SL1 and I loved it!!!! Then I bought the SL3 and im loving it more!!!! Works with no problems sounds great less cables simple and so much you can do music mixing with serato software!
But When Video Mixing I prefer the SL1 because I can work with Virtual Dj and use the video advantages for free plus!!! If you have Karaoke songs you can use that as well and projected on the screens!
MrDjkike 2 years ago

I went with traktor for the 4 deck interface and loads of effects. Like you say both are great depends what you want from it

DaFlava1 2 years ago
You can't use timecode control by just buying the components separately. You have to have the dvs plug-in which comes with a complete traktor scratch package. You should be able to get it from the Native-Instruments website, but unfortunately, you're gonna have to pay for it. Good luck.

whats better and whats the difference between a traktor scratch duo and a traktor scratch pro?
GGchua 2 years ago
The diff GGchua is just the sound box it comes with the duo only has the audio4 and only has 2 outputs the pro comes with the audio8 wich can handle 4 channels thats the sound card the box J pulls out.
MrDJAlpha 2 years ago
the main differences are the software can only do 2 decks instead of 4 (as well as the hardware limitation you mentined), and there's also less effects, less hotkey assignments in the software, and a bunch of other smaller things.
Ph0rte 2 years ago
Does duo beatmatch for you? I would help for them times when you're too off your tits to beat match well.
Pr0ject2 2 years ago
traktor scratch pro can manage 4 decks and it comes with the audio8 interface. traktor scratch duo can only manage 2 decks and this one comes with audio4 interface. i think these are the two big differences. check the homepage from native instruments for more informations ;-)

very similar to serato, traktor scratch etc.
it's a cheaper option costs £160-200 depending

wow thats crazy that a rumor has spread that traktor's updates are not free. traktor's online service center is better than anything serato can come out with. serato does't even have an online service center. also, all the djs in the club i work at always ask me if its true that traktor scratch has auto sync. where do ppl get these ideas?
jordanjsanchez 2 years ago

Strawberrycream69 2 years ago
Are you still going to be using turntables though? Or doing the mix just messing around with the settings via a mouse? If you're just using a mouse you can just get Traktor and there's some cheap "lite" versions of the program that come free with MIDI interfaces and the like. If you plan on using turntables with timecoded vinyl you do need to buy the whole package.
gravityhatfilms 2 years ago
If you don't need the hardware you can get the standard Traktor Pro or Duo. They don't have timecode control but work with MIDI controllers, hotkeys or mouse. Traktor Pro (no Scratch) costs 199€ and Traktor Duo is out for 99€.
mousacy 2 years ago
This is the best if you're into Electronic music.
Serato is more for turntablist.
Also, Traktor gives you the flexibility to syncronize with midi controllers as well as CDJ/Turntable and MIDI sync with applications like Ableton as well.
saritdjx 2 years ago
I've used all Serato/Traktor/Torq

I'm between the choice of the new SL3 or traktor scratch
gavbag1234 2 years ago
I own both SSL and Traktor Pro. If you don't know how to mix by ear and you need to keep looking at the waveforms to make sure your in sync go with SSL..its a much easier interface to mix with....Having said that traktor has a sync button which can make matching bpm easy........if you spin hip hop and top 40 go with ssl....if your into house/techno/trance/etc go with traktor..the 4 decks with sync capabilities will free you up to be more creative....either way..you wont be disappointed. Cheers!
mrdj5150 2 years ago
I just ordered Traktor Pro,
I'm mostly looking to get into scratching and stuff and it'll do for the moment, I'm probably gonna look at an SL3 once it gets cheaper.
But Traktor seems like a better system for the moment, recording mixes and so on seems easier.
I appreciate the comment man. Thank you
gavbag1234 2 years ago
I must warn you about Traktor's recording... you have the possibility to "route back" what you're doing (from the mixer) and record that, but to make it clear... in earlier versions, Traktor had the possibility to record everything "that you were doing"; the exact moment you pressed play, the moment you modified the built-in eq (or fx or whatnot). With current TS/TSP this has been removed; based on comments from NI, it was not working well and they're intending to bring it back when it does...

Too bad Stanton had to break off Final Scratch. I usually like Stanton's vinyl related products and players.

Hi J,
I have Final Scratch 2 with Traktor 3 as my software. For those who are unfamiliar with final scratch, it was the collaboration between native instuments and stanton before the broke off their project in 2005. Anyways, problems with final scratch 2:
-out of date, no more support or patches
-bad library, playlist making function
-relatively bad interface for looping with time coded vinyls
but it was cheap, $170 used
i really want to see the improvements so keep making these videos j!

i know in other versions of traktor, you can load songs into 4 different decks. does anyone know if you can you do that in traktor scratch as well?
DRoboto 2 years ago
Yes, you can. Or... waitaminute - I see where you're going... No, you can't do that in "Traktor Scratch" (which is a discontinued ancient product at this time) but you can in "Traktor Scratch Pro" (the newborn baby of Native Instruments).
uttula 2 years ago
Yes, Traktor Scratch PRO has got 4 deck playback and mixing.
You don't need a turntable or CDJ for every of the 4 decks, though. You can access them with MIDI controllers, keyboard shortcuts or by simply using your mouse, as well.
mousacy 2 years ago
I am a DJ with 10 years experience. I never reall took to CDJ's - i found them too fiddly and sensitive. So Traktor is a godsend. It's stable, the timecode is deadly accurate, and the Audio 8 sound quality is amazing. The software is good and user friendly too. I use this as i would a normal air of turntables - thats the beauty of Traktor though, you can make do as much or as little as you want it to do for you. It gives you total control.
spungehead 2 years ago
The Audio8DJ does not work in Linux properly. The Serato is the way to go if you use Linux. Futhermore, Native Instruments out sources their Linux driver development and the one in charge of it isn't very active in development.
If you use Linux to DJ and want time coded vinyl/cd, go with Serato.
TheReturnOfSak 2 years ago
