@Tazzyboy100 He hit the wing tip. I am a B-1 crew cheif myself and have done the same thing countless times. To all the nay sayers out there, lighten up. What you didn't see was the crew cheifs standing out there for a hour and a half to two hours with the pilots doing a -1 preflight prior to taxi. So a little fun on having your plane taxi out makes everyones day.
@screamineagle12 I said if I were a pilot sir! Not a pilot but was a crewchief on the f-111 aircraft. However funny these videos are they are not a true representation of the serious nature of ground crews job. Case in point what if a fuel line burst while chief was having "fun," I doubt he would have been heads up enough to notice!
All these dancing marshalling jobs are stupid! However funny, they are not a true representation of the importance and seriousness of the final tasks in launching a jet aircraft! If not a planned "funny" and I was a pilot these types of goof offs would be a disiplined! However funny these marshalling jobs are highly inconsistent with military training!
@tballo69 well you're not a pilot and you problem never will be and you therefor do not understand the relationship between these people.nobody likes a stuck up prick
@popkorn66 Furthermore it was not about having fun never was! Seriousness and being professional meant the pilots had more trust in the ground crew! And yes I understood the relationship quite well! I received my National Defense Medal during the first gulf war! 48th AGS, 494th Amu!
@popkorn66 the job never ended when the plane "was clear" ya but maybe after the line of site he was clear! Pilot? Well if you were, no doubt you would settle for a clueless fuck who was not heads up! I recieved many commendations from pilots who demanded "heads up" attitude and do not compromise, asshole! Probably you don't even know the training AF ground crews went though.!!!!!!!!
@tballo69 come on man, lighten up. i'm a maintainer (E&E) and i know for a fact that the marshaller is not the main person responisble for a "fuel line burst" that would be the fire guard. maintainers need to have fun at work to keep their sanity. working endless hours everyday, all year, starts to sink in. you try and have a good time when you can and you are 100% serious when you need to be. i can tell you're old school but things have changed since then.
@toddwaite adding to that: 90% of any problems that happen after the jet starts to taxi can and need to be handled by the pilot. once the jet starts engines then, hopefully, if there is a fire or something, the jets protection systems should be working adequately. if not, you have a fire guard. you can't tell me you were a maintainer and never tried to make the job not suck. i know i try to, everyday. its the shittiest job and the best job all at the same time. but lighten up.
anangry possum! the tail has no arelons its called the elevator arelons are on the trailing edge of the wings and move aposing each other to bank the plane for cordinated turns F>Y>I>
actually you're saluting the flag on the tail, you give the thumbs up to the pilot. you don't salute officers on the flightline unless it's a full-bird or above.
Thats one of them things make a big show call them in and just sit and talk about how cool it was. And scream when he is leaving. Thanks for the hard work guys and gals
The funny thing is that I have had QA over my shoulder with ringing cell phones a few times....sigh. Those are usually the guys who let stuff slide, though.
Yeah, that happend to a fuck up of ours. he was talking to QA and he shit went off. Funny as hell.
My buddy used to do this shit when he'd launch out. It was awesome to see a MSGT doing flips and cartwheels and shit. The most I ever did was the "Pelvic-thrust" marshall...
The superintendent for my AMU likes to enforce the letter of the law, and says that we're not allowed to touch a moving aircraft. He's threatened paperwork in exchange for luck taps. :/

it was a luck tap on the left wing (tail is too high to touch) as long as he didn't hang on it no real harm.
