I need a good charger and I was going to buy this one ... can anyone tell me a better charger than this one that has a traxxas plug and Australian power supply ... any help would be greatly appreciated
Get a clue, your battery shorted out first, causing both the battery and your charger to see a huge spike in current. The charger shut down, but your battery continued to burn the connecting bars because was shorting out and dumping hundreds of amps of stored charge. If the charger was bad, the batteries would have just vented and the shrink wrap meleted, but the battery bars show the battery itself caused the damage after the charger was disconnected.
When it all happened the battery vented as I heard it before I saw anything, the shrink wrap melted and the burn marks you see is just the protective material over the cells that actually started to burn. Ive taken this charger to Venom and they looked the usb data and they agree.
so was it the chargers fault? or was the battery just bad? are you sure you put it on the right mode? i was going to get this but now i dont want to because of this vid
Yeah it was the charger that was faulty and had a short. It was running on auto mode with a 1000 mah limit on the charge. When I checked the data log for the charger using USB it showed that the charger had actually jumped up to 4500 mah before the fire.
Im not here to talk you out of buying the charger but I wouldnt buy one again after that.
Its not hard to think that these items are produced in large numbers and the chances of getting a faulty one arnt that remote. I have a replacement one now that works fine no problems at all. As i said Venom admitted the charger was faulty but thanks anway.
