Do your feet ever slip off the metal pedals? I'm thinking about putting some in my rally project car but i'm not sure if i'll slip off with muddy shoes.
They were slippery at times but never caused a problem. Since this video I've removed them because they were just the bolt on cosmetic type and I started to think they were cheesy. I didn't put them on anyway, they came with the car.
But anyway if you like them go for it, shouldn't cause any problems.
@95steveexplorer Dude you have no idea what your're talking about. I've owned both imports (civic included) and classic American muscle; not only do I enjoy both for different reasons, but I can make both look awesome because the driver defines style, not the car. This is a great vid..+10!
@steveexplorer how you gonna compare performance between a civic and a vette or srt jeep..lol theres like a $30.000 difference..would you honestly expect the honda to compare? i have only ever owned ford abd chevy but you cant talk shit to someone because of what there into.. noones tellin you to go buy one...take it easy..by u taking your time to watch this video and talk shit about it just shows you have nothing better to do..that goes for everyone on YouTube that only comments to talk shit
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hey how bout u sell that POS and buy a real car not that shitty piece of shit go kart. that shitty piece of shit tach is worth more than that shitty piece of shit civic ya duche fag
I get 35+ mpg all day long, parts are easy to find, it's reliable, I can easily work on it myself, it's fun to drive, etc., etc., etc.......I think I'll keep it.
@frylockthefryman i guess you've never driven a real car.. civics aren't fun to drive , their slow and have no acceleration .. try driving a corvette or jeep str8 or something like that.. there fun to drive and fast. unlike that POS 4 cylinder ricer..
It's funny that you didn't mention any of the other positive things I said about the car...maybe because all those things are facts.
Driving experience is opinion, therefore I can't argue with you on your opinion but what I can tell you is that every type of vehicle has it's own unique feel. I've driven American cars and imports so I know how both of them feel. Considering Civics are one of the best selling cars in the world, I don't think I'm the only one that likes driving it
Also you asked "how much horse power does the gauge add?".
First I would like to say that many people have made that joke about aftermarket parts and it is no longer funny, just old.
You may have also noticed my car didn't come stock with a tachometer so I was adding this tachometer so I would have 1 total tachometer in my car, not two.
My tachometer is also small and practical, not huge and bulky.
So your joke doesn't in any way work in my situation. It's a useful add on.
@frylockthefryman no actually i wasn't able to notice that your car didn't come with a tachometer because of the shitty camera your using! yea and that civic is old, get rid of it and get a car that'l actually get you a girl
So because my car is a 93 and old by your standards, that makes it no good? I wonder what your fellow American car enthusiast with their old school Mustangs and Chargers would say about that?
"get a car that'l actually get you a girl " so you need your car to get girls?
Fortunately I've never had to rely on my vehicle to get a girl so that is not an issue for me.
You're right about the quality of the video though but if you don't like it, find another video.
@frylockthefryman yea the AMERICAN cars that are that old, last that long . most girls wouldn't want to be seen riding in a car like that.. adn i never said i need a car to pick me up girls.. and i typed in ricer fail and this came up in a related video
I used American cars as an example so you could relate with what I was saying but I can see that went right over your head. The fact is any car will last long as long as it is properly maintained so age is irrelevant.
Maybe you're personally lacking in some areas so the girls you know only hang out with you to ride in your car(if you even do have a nice car)but my fiance and all the other people I've driven in my car don't care how the car I drive looks and they like it anyway
@95steveexplorer tell me you must be either a noob, a fag, or a high school drop put, or both.dude 92-95 civics started the tuning scene long before the muscle applied ecu in their rides.
steve whatever, by the time you reach college you might as well change your daddys/mommys car and your gay sounding name.
@pipoveyron sorry but most civics i see on the road like this guys are RICERS, nothing close to tuning, that 50 dollar fart canon at auto zone doesnt make your civic a tuner. carbeureted cars are much better in my opinion. 8 cylinders is beter then 4 cylinders injected or carbed id rather drive a v8
@95steveexplorer u said: get a car that'l actually get you a girl... Really??? im so sorry for you that u need a car thats better than a civic to get a girl... damn ! i bought a dirty old Gremlin and still got a sweet gf with it becouse she wants ME, not the car, year later i rebuilded and tuned the car (engine and body) and now girls wish to get in it... BRAINLESS girls... no thanks
@ThaRealGecko ok so if you pull up to a club with a gremlin (LMFAO) and another guy pulls up in a new camaro or something like that, what do you think girls find more atractive? what would a female want to be seen in? ps.. you must look like a total fag driving a amc gremlin..and yea girls definetly "wish" to have a ride in your car..
@95steveexplorer i repeat, not interested in girls with big boobs n no brain that want the car and your money, comprende?
i see camaros everyday... how special...
but if u like ill smoke them in a 0-100, i guess your talking about stock new plastic muscles.
im not talking about the AMC Gremlin btw, those are a bit smaller and weird from the backside windows, mine is VAM '81... looks more like the spirit and pulls out 20 hp (stock) more than the amc 78 gremlin x.
@steves7613 How about you quit raping your mom.... Civics get good fuel mileage....so get a life and understand that real men don't feed all of their money to OPEC so they can fund terrorism...
@shartasticful yea ok i don't got a problem with civics as a daily driver grandma car but i got a problem with kids like u that think they r cool and all that. if its not a race car why u putting a huge tac on it(p.s. that also looks like shit they way u installed it) they r slow, ugly, and cheap japcrap cars. and real men drive imports i don't think so. u drive them cuz u cant handle the power of a chevy, supoting tourist really. so by buying imported cars is defiantly help supporting the U.S.
@steves7613 Actually... Dumbass... I have an 81 C10 with dyno proven 773 hp at the rear wheels... It runs on mixed fuel with no gasoline at all... Fuck paying our American dollars to OPEC just because we want to look cool on public roads... I drive a STOCK Civic and I get 40 mpg on HWY... Plus Japan is not a problem to the US, so paying them for their ecomomy cars doesn't bother me at all and they have plants here that provide Americans jobs... Do your research, I did mine....
@shartasticful ok then why u got a problem. if u got a stock civic daily driver thats fine and if u got a 81 c10 u should hate ricers why u given me shit if like chevys too. i got a 856hp 88 camaro drag car and i restored 63 vette 454.
i think your message wouldve had a bigger effect if you didnt become redundant with the word "shit"
you used "shitty piece of shit" like 3 times, glad to know you know a lot words. and by the way, you should really double check your posts, because its "douche" and i dont think the name "douche fag" has any effect.
Does it move while driving? My gas needle moves slightly as I accelerate, press the brake or make a turn. It happens because the gas in the tank shifts which moves the fuel level sensor in the tank.
@frylockthefryman 12... my evo doesnt have one... I replaced the tach for a gather cluster (oil pres. water temp, ps temp etc) I listen to the engine for my RPM...
Sometimes I think driving would be simpler without the tach and just listen to the engine but its great watching the RPMs climb to redline after flooring it and if you have your music loud the tach helps a lot.
@frylockthefryman yeah lol... I know sometimes when the music is BLARING I have to feel the vibrations of the car (a LOT harder to do lol) and a tach would help... but oh well. to much effort :P
It could be that one wire is for positive power, the other wire is for the rpm signal and there is no ground wire because the tach gets ground when it is mounted to the bike.
It is more likely though that the wires got ripped out of it somehow.
@beking32 You probably were being negligent with proper installation and left the battery connected. You are supposed to disconnect the battery before installation.
um dude i bought a supertach from autozone for my 81 ford and that wasnt on the application note....and i know this is a dumb question but can you hook this rpm guage to any kind of vihicle rather it was on the application paper or not???
It should say on the paper how to hook the tach up to a vehicle with a distributor.....I think you splice the tach signal wire to the ground wire for the coil or something.
Sorry I cant be of more help I just never installed one on a american car.
I don't consider this to be a horrible video and I think the view count and positive feedback I've been given back that up but yes it is poor quality since it was my first DIY video and I only had a webcam to film with at the time.
You can view my video called "How to:Install a tachometer - update"if you'd like. That video is more detailed and better quality although at the time I used the same webcam from this video.Maybe you will find that more helpful.
hey i installed the rpm gauge just like you did on my 94 dx but it won't read past 2000rpms even if my foot is to the floor and if im driving down the road and let off the gas or just sit and idle it drops completely down to 0 did i do something wrong or is my tach just junk?
Sounds like either your rpm signal wire, power wire,or ground wire might be making a bad connection.Either that or your tachometer may be defective or you may have the switches inside the tachometer set wrong.
I would first check the switches and then open your hood and attach the power and ground wire directly to the battery and the rpm wire to the blue wire in the 2 pin connector on your distributor.
If it's still not working then the tach may be defective.
to me, it looks like you could hook into a toggle switch. put the power and light on the accesory section on switch, then ground on ground. then the green one to where ever it goes. it would be easier. simpler. the green would be the only one that would require you to figure out where it goes.
It may be simpler but it's more convenient in the long run to install each wire in the areas described in the video because if you have a toggle switch in the way you're saying then you have to turn it on each time you want the tach on and you're gonna want it on each time the car is running so it makes more sense to install the wire to a power source that gains power when the ignition switch is turned on.
Also if you install the back light wire to the same wire as the main power wire then the light will come on every time the rpm is on,even during the day.
So I think it's better to just install each wire as described but you can customize you're install anyway you like. That's the fun part!
If you mean a backlight the car comes with back lights stock...the bulb may just have burned out.But if you mean a shift light then there's devices you can buy...just search shift light on ebay.
Your welcome and if you need to know which wire the rpm signal wire goes to on your car, just google corolla ke70 distributor wiring diagram and attach it to the rpm wire on the distributor.
ya at the end of the video you revved it... i dont think thats very sound friendly, your neighbors might call the police for a noise complaint. better run inside joe
I briefly revved it to 3000 rpm with a stock muffler....I think my neighbors can take that considering there's a guy around here with a banshee that speeds down my street all the time...this isn't the suburbs guy lol.
So since webcams have no handle(because their not made to be moved around filming) and they have no sight(to see where your filming),its difficult to record a video.
some have only park reverse and drive, but most have a low(1st) a drive2(2nd) and the drive4(auto mode) its not good for the tranny to use those to shift because those were made for incline and hills, not to try and race with. get a stick shift if you want to race. auto isnt made for that. timing is all off unless you get a gasket shift kit. plus they arent fun. you can downshift, you cant burnout like in stick. you cant drift. stick is just so much better.
thanks dude i got a 91 and ive been stugglin for a week tryin to find the tach signal wire and i found it it was the only blue one but it was on the other side!!!no thanks to the fucken haynes manual!!it will show u how to change a batterie but not a proper wireing diagram
Your welcome and yea haynes manuals are pretty much only good for basic stuff. Its best to get the actual dealership service manual.I got one that I found online for my 93 Civic that's about 1200 pages and it tells you pretty much everything imaginable.
Lol actually you can....ever seen those numbers on the automatic shifter? The ones that say 1,2,3,etc.?Those are for changing gears manually.....it doesn't have a clutch so its different from a manual transmission but u can shift the gears at any rpm by moving the shifter into those numbers so yes you can change gears on an automatic...... ;)
an automatic vehicle doesnt have a manual shifter. it has park reverse neutral and drive etc.. you cant move a shifter on an automatic to change gears. i have drove my moms manual transmision and my grandmas automatic. and you cant change gears on an automatic. it does it for you. i know the difference.
Well look I don't know what cars you've been driving but I know for a FACT 92-95 automatic Civics have 1,2,D3,D4.Those numbers stand for gears. The 1 and 2 stay in those specific gears as long as you have the shifter in one of those positions and when you have it in D3 or D4 the automatic transmission shifts automatically.
So you CAN change gears manually on an automatic transmission but like I said its different from a Manual transmission because it has a torque converter instead of a clutch so its not a manual transmission but you can change the gears manually if you so choose.
that was a well fought argument. my cousins wifes automatic is a chevy trailblazer and hers has a 2nd gear on it. one time i was riding with him and her and she shifted to it because we were going downhill on a litlle mountain. i forgot. that was my fault. not yours. and you took the time to prove it to me. BRAVO.
Do you mean me or someone else?Because my car is a 5 speed manual. But some people install them on automatic cars just for looks or it helps if your changing gears manually on a automatic car.
Yes I've installed it.I made a new video that shows a better way to install the tach and in the video I show where to install the back light wire.I have to edit the video and upload it so I should have it up hopefully by tomarrow or in the next couple of days.
No I havent had any fuses pop since I've installed it.I'm going to put up an updated video soon about my tachometer install so you should watch it when I do because I explain a better way to install and hook up the tach.
I have a 93 civic as well. Everything looks good. I thought i could cheat by using the blue wire that runs all the way up to the dash, but... it doesnt work.... you have to go through ur firewall to the blue wire. And the fuse box numbers are correct.
Oh really?Thats strange I was told that wire would work as well.I also heard you can use the rpm wire that runs to the ECU so you can try that one if you want.
okay I dont know a thing about cars but can you put a small one like that on even though you have the big one beside the speedo? and have both of them working too?
My car normally idles between 600-800 rpm but when I first start it up and its cold it would stay up in the 1500-2000 rpm range until I would start driving. But since the video I've adjusted the fitv on my car so it only idles that high for a minute or 2.Thanks keith :)
Yea I know.I use a webcam and laptop for most of my videos because I dont have a camcorder.Thats also why I havent made too many videos because it's such a pain in the ass to have to carry a laptop and webcam around lol.
i have a ebay tech....but the wires is too short for my placemnt..the wires are 20 guage..would i be able to hook up additonal 18 guage to that wire or do i have to use the same 20 guage for more wire...in other words can i use a 18 gugage wire with a 20 would i have any problems
It's always best to use the same guage and wire isnt too expensive so it would be best to buy 20 guage if possible but I dont think you'll have any problems with 18.I recommend calling customer support for the tachometer brand you have and asking them just to be safe though.
ok... now where can i get the extra 20 guage wires from or 12 volt wires....i had 18 guage laying around my house but thats a little big i prefer to you the same wire as you recommend just to be on the safe side
actually its the opposite 18 is bigger then the 20 not by much...might have to ask my mechanic cause i dont want to short anything....but no sure if 18 has more voltage coming in than the 20 know what i mean..not to good at this electrical stuff
Na you can use larger guage wire as long as its not thinner than the wire on the device your connecting its ok.The device will only use as much power as it needs no matter how big the wire is.
Before you start running off at the mouth about "ricers" and v8's atleast know what your talking about.

No, the fuel pump has nothing to do with the gas gauge.
There's a fuel level sensor in your gas tank. It's right next to the fuel pump.
You have to remove the bottom of your back seat and remove the panel under the seat to access it.
frylockthefryman 1 year ago
@yangster84
Sounds like there's a problem with the fuel level sensor in your gas tank.
Or maybe your gas meter in the cluster but sounds like fuel level sensor to me.
Both are pretty easy to access though.
frylockthefryman 1 year ago
@yangster84
Does it move while driving? My gas needle moves slightly as I accelerate, press the brake or make a turn. It happens because the gas in the tank shifts which moves the fuel level sensor in the tank.

Which 93 Honda? DX? LX? I ask because you mentioned the blue wire which I have heard conflicting info as to whether or not these are in DX models.
shelzmike 1 year ago
@shelzmike
It's a DX.The connector with the blue wire that I ran my rpm signal wire to is on all model civics because its for hooking up a test tachometer.
All fuel injected vehicles have a rpm signal wire because the ecu requires a rpm signal to be able to run the fuel maps.

oh and does your car have some type of suspension to make your car lower? if so, can you tell me? i need to make mine lower
rocknazn 1 year ago
@rocknazn
My car has the stock suspension, you can get coil overs or lowered springs if you want your car lower.
frylockthefryman 1 year ago
@frylockthefryman i checked the coilovers and thats like nearly 1 thousand and lowering springs are like 89
rocknazn 1 year ago
@rocknazn
You should be able to find coilovers cheaper than that.Maybe you can get some good used ones on craigslist.
The lowered springs would be good too if you can find some that will lower your car as much as you want.
Coil overs are nice though since you can adjust the height yourself.
Make sure you get an alignment after you lower your car also.

@frylockthefryman ahh i hope i can find some people who would do that. otherwise i have to cut my springs

@frylockthefryman i tried to craigslist the coilovers and none were around my area
rocknazn 1 year ago
@rocknazn
Oh well getting lowered springs would be better than cutting your springs.
You should be able to find some on ebay.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

whats the point of puting another RPM tach on a car???
i mean if your car didnt come with one it prob dont need it
or if you put some crazy mods that makes the old tach skip.
there is nothing wrong with OEM tachs
paisa1990 1 year ago
@paisa1990
No manual car really needs a tach as long as you listen to the engine but a tach is nice to have.
A tach is especially good for racing. How many race cars do you see without tachometers?
frylockthefryman 1 year ago
@frylockthefryman 12... my evo doesnt have one... I replaced the tach for a gather cluster (oil pres. water temp, ps temp etc) I listen to the engine for my RPM...
johnnydrummerboi 1 year ago
@johnnydrummerboi
Sometimes I think driving would be simpler without the tach and just listen to the engine but its great watching the RPMs climb to redline after flooring it and if you have your music loud the tach helps a lot.
frylockthefryman 1 year ago
@frylockthefryman yeah lol... I know sometimes when the music is BLARING I have to feel the vibrations of the car (a LOT harder to do lol) and a tach would help... but oh well. to much effort :P

hey anyone can help me? i have a tacho just only a 2 wires, i want to install it to my motorcycle, what do i do or how can i fix this?
help me pls
bhabycoh12 1 year ago
@bhabycoh12
It could be that one wire is for positive power, the other wire is for the rpm signal and there is no ground wire because the tach gets ground when it is mounted to the bike.
It is more likely though that the wires got ripped out of it somehow.

hey i brought one of these. i wanna know did your needle go to 8000 rpm when u hook it to ground n power? dont knw if mine is a defect
beking32 1 year ago
Mine doesn't but some gauges go all the way to the highest rpm and then back down to the current rpm when they first gain power.
frylockthefryman 1 year ago
@beking32 You probably were being negligent with proper installation and left the battery connected. You are supposed to disconnect the battery before installation.
madoggyd 1 year ago
if your drilling a hole make sure you put a bung in it, and paint the metal to stop rust :)

dis video sux!!!
u have 4 wires off the tacho
green wire goes to ur signal rpm wire wich is unda de bonnet
red to the postive as he said tat once da cars starts theres power
black z earth so do wat he said
you get much betteer info if u look it up on google
masterkronixster 2 years ago
I didn't understand half of what you said and I have no idea what you're talking about when you say "bonnet".
Maybe you're talking about under the dash but not all cars have the wire under the dash to tap into.
But hey, since you don't like the video,I look forward to watching your tachometer install video if or when you make one.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
Black or green is usually ground but on my tach black is ground and green is the signal wire.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago

um dude i bought a supertach from autozone for my 81 ford and that wasnt on the application note....and i know this is a dumb question but can you hook this rpm guage to any kind of vihicle rather it was on the application paper or not???
childs411 2 years ago
@childs411
It should say on the paper how to hook the tach up to a vehicle with a distributor.....I think you splice the tach signal wire to the ground wire for the coil or something.
Sorry I cant be of more help I just never installed one on a american car.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
horrible video, cant even see where your supposed to connect the green wire
koolaidhvt 2 years ago
@koolaidhvt
I don't consider this to be a horrible video and I think the view count and positive feedback I've been given back that up but yes it is poor quality since it was my first DIY video and I only had a webcam to film with at the time.
You can view my video called "How to:Install a tachometer - update"if you'd like. That video is more detailed and better quality although at the time I used the same webcam from this video.Maybe you will find that more helpful.

jw have u had any problems with this tachometer yet?
MusicProdigy8 2 years ago
@MusicProdigy8
I've had it for a couple years now and I haven't had any problems yet.
I did notice though that the gauge is slightly off with the rpm's but it's not by much.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for watching!
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
thanks for posting this video! it'll come in handy. i happened to buy the exact tachometer as you.
MusicProdigy8 2 years ago
hey i bought one for the purpose of looks and for when i get my turbo but my car all ready has a rpm gauge so how would i run the green wire
ShugaLoafbundles217 2 years ago
@ShugaLoafbundles217
If your car already has a tachometer in the cluster then the rpm signal wire will be in your cluster's wire harness.
Get a wiring diagram for your cluster and then find the tachometer wire in the harness and splice your new tachometer's wire into that.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
is it just screwed n mounted on surface without puttin a nat to tight it up more from other side?
i wanna know if tach shakes when you run the car with just screw it on the surface.
mrblockboii 2 years ago
I just have a wood screw mounting it to the plastic dashboard faceplate and it's very sturdy.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
hey i installed the rpm gauge just like you did on my 94 dx but it won't read past 2000rpms even if my foot is to the floor and if im driving down the road and let off the gas or just sit and idle it drops completely down to 0 did i do something wrong or is my tach just junk?
carmelolopez420 2 years ago
Sounds like either your rpm signal wire, power wire,or ground wire might be making a bad connection.Either that or your tachometer may be defective or you may have the switches inside the tachometer set wrong.
I would first check the switches and then open your hood and attach the power and ground wire directly to the battery and the rpm wire to the blue wire in the 2 pin connector on your distributor.
If it's still not working then the tach may be defective.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
Whats the point of buying tachometer if the car comes with one..
fatdudefoshizzle 2 years ago
Check that the switch (if it has one) is on the correct cylinder selection. EG; 4, 6 or 8.
ozzman1965 2 years ago
to me, it looks like you could hook into a toggle switch. put the power and light on the accesory section on switch, then ground on ground. then the green one to where ever it goes. it would be easier. simpler. the green would be the only one that would require you to figure out where it goes.
Gl0wR4C3R 2 years ago
It may be simpler but it's more convenient in the long run to install each wire in the areas described in the video because if you have a toggle switch in the way you're saying then you have to turn it on each time you want the tach on and you're gonna want it on each time the car is running so it makes more sense to install the wire to a power source that gains power when the ignition switch is turned on.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
Also if you install the back light wire to the same wire as the main power wire then the light will come on every time the rpm is on,even during the day.
So I think it's better to just install each wire as described but you can customize you're install anyway you like. That's the fun part!
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
how can i put a light on a stock rpm from a honda civic
rickytamez42 2 years ago
Do you mean a shift light or backlight?
If you mean a backlight the car comes with back lights stock...the bulb may just have burned out.But if you mean a shift light then there's devices you can buy...just search shift light on ebay.

frylockthefryman 2 years ago
it'd be useful if you posted a video in which the viewers can actually see what your recording, instead of all this blurry motion sickness footage.
PiranhaJaw22 2 years ago
Well this was the first video I ever put up so it wasn't filmed too great. Also all I have to film with at the moment is a laptop and webcam.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
So since webcams have no handle(because their not made to be moved around filming) and they have no sight(to see where your filming),its difficult to record a video.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
So because of these reasons,I hope you can excuse the poor quality.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
some have only park reverse and drive, but most have a low(1st) a drive2(2nd) and the drive4(auto mode) its not good for the tranny to use those to shift because those were made for incline and hills, not to try and race with. get a stick shift if you want to race. auto isnt made for that. timing is all off unless you get a gasket shift kit. plus they arent fun. you can downshift, you cant burnout like in stick. you cant drift. stick is just so much better.

Your welcome and yea haynes manuals are pretty much only good for basic stuff. Its best to get the actual dealership service manual.I got one that I found online for my 93 Civic that's about 1200 pages and it tells you pretty much everything imaginable.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
how do you change gears on an automatic..... hmmmmmmm. YOU CANT.
SupraSupra3030 2 years ago
Lol actually you can....ever seen those numbers on the automatic shifter? The ones that say 1,2,3,etc.?Those are for changing gears manually.....it doesn't have a clutch so its different from a manual transmission but u can shift the gears at any rpm by moving the shifter into those numbers so yes you can change gears on an automatic...... ;)
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
an automatic vehicle doesnt have a manual shifter. it has park reverse neutral and drive etc.. you cant move a shifter on an automatic to change gears. i have drove my moms manual transmision and my grandmas automatic. and you cant change gears on an automatic. it does it for you. i know the difference.
SupraSupra3030 2 years ago
Well look I don't know what cars you've been driving but I know for a FACT 92-95 automatic Civics have 1,2,D3,D4.Those numbers stand for gears. The 1 and 2 stay in those specific gears as long as you have the shifter in one of those positions and when you have it in D3 or D4 the automatic transmission shifts automatically.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
So you can put it in the 1 position and rev it as little or as high as you want and it wont shift until you move it to the next number.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
So you CAN change gears manually on an automatic transmission but like I said its different from a Manual transmission because it has a torque converter instead of a clutch so its not a manual transmission but you can change the gears manually if you so choose.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
that was a well fought argument. my cousins wifes automatic is a chevy trailblazer and hers has a 2nd gear on it. one time i was riding with him and her and she shifted to it because we were going downhill on a litlle mountain. i forgot. that was my fault. not yours. and you took the time to prove it to me. BRAVO.

I also have a 93 civic, i just cant find that bloody wire
and u didnt show it too well in the video :P
alyjeff11122 2 years ago
I tried to show it better but its hard to get the right angle because all I have to film with is a webcam and laptop.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
The blue wire is at the top of the firewall on the drivers side. Its on top of the engine wire harness that runs in the firewall.
frylockthefryman 2 years ago
I have a 93 civic as well. Everything looks good. I thought i could cheat by using the blue wire that runs all the way up to the dash, but... it doesnt work.... you have to go through ur firewall to the blue wire. And the fuse box numbers are correct.
beerbelly555 3 years ago
Oh really?Thats strange I was told that wire would work as well.I also heard you can use the rpm wire that runs to the ECU so you can try that one if you want.

hi there
i have a ebay tech....but the wires is too short for my placemnt..the wires are 20 guage..would i be able to hook up additonal 18 guage to that wire or do i have to use the same 20 guage for more wire...in other words can i use a 18 gugage wire with a 20 would i have any problems
Racing1on1 3 years ago
It's always best to use the same guage and wire isnt too expensive so it would be best to buy 20 guage if possible but I dont think you'll have any problems with 18.I recommend calling customer support for the tachometer brand you have and asking them just to be safe though.
frylockthefryman 3 years ago
ok... now where can i get the extra 20 guage wires from or 12 volt wires....i had 18 guage laying around my house but thats a little big i prefer to you the same wire as you recommend just to be on the safe side
Racing1on1 3 years ago
Oh sorry I got confused...I was thinking 20 guage wire is bigger than 18 lol.Ok yea you can use the 18 guage you'll have no problems.
frylockthefryman 3 years ago
actually its the opposite 18 is bigger then the 20 not by much...might have to ask my mechanic cause i dont want to short anything....but no sure if 18 has more voltage coming in than the 20 know what i mean..not to good at this electrical stuff
Racing1on1 3 years ago
Na you can use larger guage wire as long as its not thinner than the wire on the device your connecting its ok.The device will only use as much power as it needs no matter how big the wire is.
frylockthefryman 3 years ago
