Just have to point out something, There are plenty of responsible owners and breeders who tether their dogs. There is nothing wrong with Chaining if it's done with Long chains, plenty of Off chain excercise, Food and water within reach and shelter if needed. If you look at it that way, it's a whole lot more humane than keeping a dog in a cramped cage all day.

I don't support putting a dog on a chain all day, I also don't support leaving a dog in a Kennel or a crate all day, but that doesn't mean Crates and Kennels are bad. The same goes for Chains. I know of people who LOVE their dogs and give them plenty of excercise, but when they can't watch the dog, yes he does go on a Chain, just like any other dog may go in a crate.

This is so heart breaking. I love my pitbull and I will own more. They are very loving and family loyal. This dogs that are being used for fighting can be rehabilitated, and the people that do this should have done on to them as they have done to these dogs. Take them out and tie them to a tree and let someone come rip them apart. See how they like it. This is a very hard subject. I wish that I could help all of the pitbulls..

Actually, PETA wants to kill all pit bulls. It was on their website. I'm not talking about the fact that they want to abolish pets all together, but that they specifically said pit bulls have been bred beyond repair. Be very careful when you recommend PETA. They also have the highest kill rates of any animals in their shelters, lots of animals that could have been saved. Great video though. HSUS is a story for another day. Better to call an actual pit rescue.

The fact that PETA supports BSL laws shows that they will do anything to further their goal of pet extinction, even if it means some animals will suffer. Even with a grandfather clause, what happens when a perfectly happy and healthy pitbull is taken into a shelter in an area that has BSL laws? Its killed. No chance to be adopted. What if someone has to move to that area for a job and has a pitbull? They have to give up their dog in their state or euthanize it.

Then again it is not surprising that PETA would be for BSL laws...they do afterall kill 90%+ of the animals in their care, claiming that ALL 1,000-2,000 pets they get are sick/dying, yet unable to come up with vet reports or any other evidence proving this when asked. Then there's that whole killing and throwing kittens in the Piggly Wiggly dumpster thing.
And they do all of this while claiming animals and people are equal. I'd hate to see them be in charge of shelters for homeless people!

If any APBT showed human aggression it was culled immediately, keep in mind these dogs were also family dogs and kept inside the home with children. Maybe 1-2 APBT's were kept that bit but they were kept because they had high guarding instincts. 90% of APBTs are very loving to humans but very animal aggressive. Breed Garbage With Garbage who don't health/temperament test there dogs over and over and you have unstable dogs. Those are the ones that are in the news.
And if you think dogmen bred there dogs for color, size, $ you're dead wrong, they strived for one thing...gameness. They also loved there dogs very much and never forced a fight on them. Don't get confused street level dog fighting to real dog fighting which is matched similar to boxing. You have one thing wrong, they're not trained to fight, APBTs fight willingly, it's there genetics as bulldogs and terriers are both inherintly dog aggressive. If a dog doesn't fight they aren't forced to fight, they either have it or don't.

Good video, androclestipster. I used to think pitbulls were bad, but now I know better. They have a greater desire to do what their owner wants than other breeds, which can make them susceptible to being turned into fighting dogs. Also, studies have shown that the breed of dog which is responsible for most dog bites is the Lab. What would people do if Labs were banned rather than pitbulls? They would riot! Its not fair!

I happen to think your wrong hellspawn2323. I have had rotties for over 20 years and have never had an incident with any of them. I happen to be a responsible guardian, not some thug trying to look cool with the db's. It's all in knowing your dog and what they are capable of. I also have many friends who have pits, and I have had some in the past. They will tell you the same thing I am saying to you. You have to know the dog. Personally, I feel people should be mentally evaluated, pass a test, and then be deemed fit to have a child or pet. Too much cruelty and neglect these days... it is soo sad.

Some people think pitbulls love to fight. Nothing is further from truth. Most of the time they are very loving. There are dog aggresive dogs in every breed, but because these dogs were originally bred to fight bulls, twisted thugs have endangered them by fighting them. PETA does not support banning the breed of pit bull dogs; they do, however, support legislation that BANS THE BREEDING OF MORE PIT BULLS, just as PETA supports any spay/neuter legislation as the most effective way to combat the animal overpopulation crisis.
PETA works tirelessly for the pit bull dog. EVERY single day, PETA is called out to help a starving pit bull left to die on a chain with his head swollen the size of melon from fighting wounds.
"Why We Must Euthanize, Part II." Big Girl, though she was still alive when PETA came to her rescue, she'd been left to suffer for so long that she had begun to decompose -- 4 different generations of maggots were eating away at her body.

I work in an animal shelter outside of San Francisco, and I am sick and tired of seeing the place flooded with pit bulls and pit mixes. I don't know who is breeding them but I wish they'd stop; we have to euthanize most of them, and the morons keep breeding more (and never have to see or worry about the deaths they cause)..

What gets me is those dog breeders are the very people who get the angriest at us when they hear of the euthanasias. An owner came in last month (after his dog was in the shelter a week) and clamed him just before he was to be neutered. He was angry that we were about to do it! How stupid can you get?

70,000 puppies and kittens are born daily versus 10,000 people; that's 15 dogs and 45 cats born for every single person born daily. There are not enough guardians for all of these animals.
In just 7 years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 kittens, and in 6 years, one female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies. Any reasonable person would agree that in the very least, sterilizing animals would alleviate the killing of shelter animals by the millions.
If those stats are even remotely true then it is madness... I say it is madness because here in Vegas I know there are more than a few people who are big time puppy mills, churning out litter after litter and charging $400-800 or more per puppy.
Meanwhile, I just visited a "kill-shelter" a week ago and row after row after row has pitbull after pitbull... and a thousand adorable dogs waiting to be rescued from their cells. This is beyond madness and insanity.
Unfortunately makemehavefun, not only are they true, I'm sure they are on the low side. Call any rescue or shelter and you will be told it is full of pitbulls to the point they can't take another. Yet everyday, fighting rings are broken up and 400 taken or recently there were 500 just taken away from thugs who felt it right to fight them. Yep. Its not the "dogmen" that we have to blame for the bad rep of the pitbull. Their dogs were very human friendly and kept as family pets. Its the poor breeders and stupid owners who do not socialize their dogs, and organizations like the HSUS and PETA that perpetuate their bad image instead of educating the public. Also, the HSUS killed 130+ pits, including newborn pups, without assessing their temperament or letting other organizations that wanted them take them in.
If Faron, a now twice convicted dogfighter, had paid Wilkes County Animal Care the $52,925 dollars ordered by Judge Wilson, his 146 dogs would be alive today.
Judge Wilson was bound by NC's dangerous dog law, which states that any dog owned or harbored for the purpose of dog fighting, or any dog trained for dogfighting is considered a "dangerous dog."
The law, not the HSUS, dictates that fighting dogs be destroyed. Once Faron pleaded GUILTY to dogfighting, he sealed those dogs' fate!

Nah, it comes down to personal responsibility. We don't live in a police state, the citizens are the only ones with the power to stop such crimes from happening. Ah, your right my friend. When bsl was first introduced, it was meant so people wouldn't breed so many dogs, especially pits. Nobody listened and now they come and take good, well behaved dogs just because it's a pit. Although there are others on the bsl list, you never hear of them taking those dogs. Just the pits. We really need to be the responsible ones and stop the breeding.

Just have to point out something, There are plenty of responsible owners and breeders who tether their dogs. There is nothing wrong with Chaining if it's done with Long chains, plenty of Off chain excercise, Food and water within reach and shelter if needed. If you look at it that way, it's a whole lot more humane than keeping a dog in a cramped cage all day.

I don't support putting a dog on a chain all day, I also don't support leaving a dog in a Kennel or a crate all day, but that doesn't mean Crates and Kennels are bad. The same goes for Chains. I know of people who LOVE their dogs and give them plenty of excercise, but when they can't watch the dog, yes he does go on a Chain, just like any other dog may go in a crate.

This is so heart breaking. I love my pitbull and I will own more. They are very loving and family loyal. This dogs that are being used for fighting can be rehabilitated, and the people that do this should have done on to them as they have done to these dogs. Take them out and tie them to a tree and let someone come rip them apart. See how they like it. This is a very hard subject. I wish that I could help all of the pitbulls..

Actually, PETA wants to kill all pit bulls. It was on their website. I'm not talking about the fact that they want to abolish pets all together, but that they specifically said pit bulls have been bred beyond repair. Be very careful when you recommend PETA. They also have the highest kill rates of any animals in their shelters, lots of animals that could have been saved. Great video though. HSUS is a story for another day. Better to call an actual pit rescue.

The fact that PETA supports BSL laws shows that they will do anything to further their goal of pet extinction, even if it means some animals will suffer. Even with a grandfather clause, what happens when a perfectly happy and healthy pitbull is taken into a shelter in an area that has BSL laws? Its killed. No chance to be adopted. What if someone has to move to that area for a job and has a pitbull? They have to give up their dog in their state or euthanize it.

Then again it is not surprising that PETA would be for BSL laws...they do afterall kill 90%+ of the animals in their care, claiming that ALL 1,000-2,000 pets they get are sick/dying, yet unable to come up with vet reports or any other evidence proving this when asked. Then there's that whole killing and throwing kittens in the Piggly Wiggly dumpster thing.
And they do all of this while claiming animals and people are equal. I'd hate to see them be in charge of shelters for homeless people!

According to the VDACS, in 2008, of the 10,016 animals who came through PETA's door, 7, 525 were taken home by their guardians after having received FREE sterilization and vet care.
Of the 2,469 animals surrendered to PETA by their guardians, 2,369 were brought in for the FREE and HUMANE euthanasia service that PETA provides to guardians who cannot afford to pay for this service at a private vet.
59 animals were adopted and 34 transferred to other shelters.

If any APBT showed human aggression it was culled immediately, keep in mind these dogs were also family dogs and kept inside the home with children. Maybe 1-2 APBT's were kept that bit but they were kept because they had high guarding instincts. 90% of APBTs are very loving to humans but very animal aggressive. Breed Garbage With Garbage who don't health/temperament test there dogs over and over and you have unstable dogs. Those are the ones that are in the news.

They have a greater desire to do what their owner wants than other breeds, which can make them susceptible to being turned into fighting dogs. Also, studies have shown that the breed of dog which is responsible for most dog bites is the Lab. What would people do if Labs were banned rather than pitbulls? They would riot! Its not fair!

Some people think pitbulls love to fight. Nothing is further from truth. Most of the time they are very loving. There are dog aggresive dogs in every breed, but because these dogs were originally bred to fight bulls, twisted thugs have endangered them by fighting them. PETA does not support banning the breed of pit bull dogs; they do, however, support legislation that BANS THE BREEDING OF MORE PIT BULLS, just as PETA supports any spay/neuter legislation as the most effective way to combat the animal overpopulation crisis.

PETA works tirelessly for the pit bull dog. EVERY single day, PETA is called out to help a starving pit bull left to die on a chain with his head swollen the size of melon from fighting wounds.
"Why We Must Euthanize, Part II." Big Girl, though she was still alive when PETA came to her rescue, she'd been left to suffer for so long that she had begun to decompose -- 4 different generations of maggots were eating away at her body.

I honeslty think rufflesworld that if the law starts buckling down on the ones that misuse this breed and give them stiffer sentences, they will learn fast enough that they won't get away with the crap they do to these beautiful dogs. Such things we have done to this breed! In the last century this dog was known as the "nanny dog" for being so good and protective of children.
Some have perverted it's loyalty and tenacity into the dog with a bad reputation we now know. I have one and he is the sweetest dog I have ever known......

How heartbreaking is this?
I thank you for posting it though and fighting to help these beautiful, loving dogs.
All animals depend on the human race and have no say in how they are treat.
Sometimes I wonder how I can bear to live, knowing of the suffering beautiful, innocent animals are made to endure.
But knowing there are people like you, and the people who make kind comments about your videos,

I hate stuff like this, cause not only does it break my heart but it's true. This breed is so loving and loyal, they want to be with their humans, not chained up and forgotten or thrown in a ring.
I know many will be upset by seeing the images, but they should be thankful that they were not the one living it. Looking away doesn't make it go away.

I work in an animal shelter outside of San Francisco, and I am sick and tired of seeing the place flooded with pit bulls and pit mixes. I don't know who is breeding them but I wish they'd stop; we have to euthanize most of them, and the morons keep breeding more (and never have to see or worry about the deaths they cause)..
When will it end? When will those fools stop breeding pit bulls for the 'status' or whatever it is they call it?

You're welcome. Sorry for my cursing; I was feeling angry about all the sweet, wonderful dogs we have to euthanise at the shelter.
What gets me is those dog breeders are the very people who get the angriest at us when they hear of the euthanasias. An owner came in last month (after his dog was in the shelter a week) and clamed him just before he was to be neutered. He was angry that we were about to do it! How stupid can you get?
That mentality is what perpetuates the problem.

The American Kennel Club vigorously opposes any sterilization of animals, and for good reason! They'd be out of busines.
For every animal registered with the AKC they charge $20 per dog and $25 per litter (plus $2 per puppy).
In 2006 the American Kennel Club registered 870,000 individual dogs and 416,000 litters, earning $30 million in revenue from people who need a piece of paper to validate their dogs' important existence!
I agree, journeyman, the breeding frenzy must end!

Wow, I did't know that about the AKC... but I just found out that they don't allow "show" dogs that are neutered or spayed. How stupid is that?
I think it's time for the AKC to dissolve. It belongs in the history books along with the other bad ideas like gladiators and slavery. Good riddance.

70,000 puppies and kittens are born daily versus 10,000 people; that's 15 dogs and 45 cats born for every single person born daily. There are not enough guardians for all of these animals.
In just 7 years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 kittens, and in 6 years, one female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies. Any reasonable person would agree that in the very least, sterilizing animals would alleviate the killing of shelter animals by the millions.

If those stats are even remotely true then it is madness... I say it is madness because here in Vegas I know there are more than a few people who are big time puppy mills, churning out litter after litter and charging $400-800 or more per puppy.
Meanwhile, I just visited a "kill-shelter" a week ago and row after row after row has pitbull after pitbull... and a thousand adorable dogs waiting to be rescued from their cells. This is beyond madness and insanity.
For pity's sake, STOP BREEDING...

Unfortunately makemehavefun, not only are they true, I'm sure they are on the low side. Call any rescue or shelter and you will be told it is full of pitbulls to the point they can't take another. Yet everyday, fighting rings are broken up and 400 taken or recently there were 500 just taken away from thugs who felt it right to fight them. I totally agree with you, stop the breeding, the puppy mills and the fighting. Thanks for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

Yep. Its not the "dogmen" that we have to blame for the bad rep of the pitbull. Their dogs were very human friendly and kept as family pets. Its the poor breeders and stupid owners who do not socialize their dogs, and organizations like the HSUS and PETA that perpetuate their bad image instead of educating the public. Also, the HSUS killed 130+ pits, including newborn pups, without assessing their temperament or letting other organizations that wanted them take them in.

If Faron, a now twice convicted dogfighter, had paid Wilkes County Animal Care the $52,925 dollars ordered by Judge Wilson, his 146 dogs would be alive today.
Judge Wilson was bound by NC's dangerous dog law, which states that any dog owned or harbored for the purpose of dog fighting, or any dog trained for dogfighting is considered a "dangerous dog."
The law, not the HSUS, dictates that fighting dogs be destroyed. Once Faron pleaded GUILTY to dogfighting, he sealed those dogs' fate!

Personally, I think dog fighters and abusers should have to pay much bigger fines and spend a lot more time in jail than they do.

Nah, it comes down to personal responsibility. We don't live in a police state, the citizens are the only ones with the power to stop such crimes from happening. Dog owners need to understand their actions and how to properly train dogs. I am happy that I've never seen a pit that looks like my family's dog. He is the best looking pit in the world. And the nicest too. But put another male dog around him and he had to dominate, it's just his instinct to be the alpha and so we have to control

Excellent video, moving and also gets the point home. This is a tough nut to crack but if governments were more responsible they would have much stiffer penalties for dog fighting. It should also be much more difficult to obtain permission to breed , which would help the overpopulation crisis. I'm fed up of hearing people put the blame on the HSUS and Peta for this situation.

We may not agree with some of the things we do, but overall, these 2 orginizations do the most work to help the pitbull and other animals. Ah, your right my friend. When bsl was first introduced, it was meant so people wouldn't breed so many dogs, especially pits. Nobody listened and now they come and take good, well behaved dogs just because it's a pit. Although there are others on the bsl list, you never hear of them taking those dogs. Just the pits. We really need to be the responsible ones and stop the breeding.

Yes, I don't understand the attacks on PETA and HSUS when it is the breeder and fighter who should be attacked. What kind of perverse people use dogs to fight? I mean there seems to be no limit to man's cruelty. They are cowards since they can't fight. Michael Vick was under protective custody in jail, yet he didn't protect those poor innocent pits and made them fight. what a coward perverse man. beautiful song. thanks for sharing this video. When will they stop killing innocent animals because of irresponsible owners. Here in my county alone, almost 2500 pitbulls out of 3000 lost their lives last year. Not because they werent adoptable, it was because nobody would adopt them.
