The MAF sensor doesnt cost $500. i have replaced my before due to i off-road a lot. but something i found works is compressed air, if you happen to have a compressor use it to help blow out the excess dirt or bugs and anything else that may be inside it. it also helps dry the filter faster and gets most of the water out. be sure to let in dry thoroughly though
@heatherandpaul2 youre right my neighbor killed his maf sensor and paid 500 dollars to get it fixed everyone needs to be careful not to put too much oil
@heatherandpaul2 Yap thats why mine MAF sensor died... -.- I bought an cheap air filter and there wasnt any oil on it.. I didnt know that - and after 3 moths the MAF sensor died. I'm using the original filter now, but I'll buy oil! I want more sound :)
What i like to do is throw mine in with a load of dark clothes.. make sure its on a cold setting tho. In the dryer go with a suttle heat and when done, let it sit in a quart of crisco for an hr or so n pop it back into the vehicle.
After washing the filter does it perform like new again or only like 80%new? Also I noticed that the washing doesn't seem to clean out all the gunk. I understand you said it should still be partially blue/red.
K&N says do every 50,000 miles...what do you recommend? I thought mine needed cleaning, but its still mostly red...vid shows a pretty much blackened filter..
@suarezphilip It depends on the environment that you're driving in. I clean mine every 12 months which is the same as a regular filter replacement. K&N says you can clean it every 50,000 miles. It definitely doesn't hurt your car to clean the filter more frequently, unless you're doing it improperly.
S&B Filter Precision Cleaning & Oil Service Kit. You can order the oil with red or blue color. There is no difference between colors. Just your preference

the pressure from that brush is actually pushing dirt further into the filter, bad ideal unless u do offroadin, thats not needed
