No, it has network play capabilities... but the netcode was very bad.

Ah old classic, this is one of my favorite games. The combat can be intents sometimes when your facing the other mages, and fighting to control the mana balls.

What an underrated game. Well ahead of it's time, I can't beleave it was out in 1995. So atmospheric and addictive!

I downloaded the game for my machine and it plays (bar a few pallet problems in the loading screens) but it appears to need the original CD to run the sound.

Does the version on the-underdogs site have sound?

It wouuld make such a difference if I could play it with all that lovely rich audio adding to the mood!

I guess you are trying to play it in Windows XP? You should try the DosBox emulator for playing old games. Just type dosbox in google, it's the first match.

I tried running it in dosbox and it has a error and says "Error creating setup directories" what do i do?

Did you mount a drive? Please refer to the manual to see how to mount a drive.

I found out what was wrong i had to set the setup to search the right directory for setsound.exe but i did that and it ran but i still got no sound.

You might have configured the IRQ and DMA wrong. When DosBox is started up, it tells you the values it is using.
