  • @ilovemybmwgs1200

    Thanks Dave......you too mate :o)

  • And you looked like such a nice lad at the start!Hehe..

  • I dig it. Who wants to polish chrome at every petro stop? Nice ride.

  • Was just watching some rat bike vid and it reminded me about that GS with the bin lid wheels and the massive headlights that spawned so many other rats but I couldn't remember what it was called.....and here it is! I used to work for AWoL many moons ago and The Changeling of course graced issue 1 with it's malevolent prescence. Often imitated never bettered.

  • wow emotional stuff right there xD

  • Always loved this bike, very inspirational, along with the Erazerhead, any idea what happened to that one?

    Nice one Baz :)

  • Excellent!!!, congratulations, great bike with lots of personality...

  • can someone tell me whats the name of this song? Awesome rat bike!

  • @adrianalejandra1980

    Bazza : )

  • id laugh my ass off if that chain broke at 1:02

  • Fantastic.

  • yeah man , a REALLY famous bike... good 4u

  • Bazz! One of the few Custom Bike mags I ever kept was 'cos of the feature with your fantastic scoot in it - same with BSH too, methinks?! Was just thinking of digging it out to get inspired... just acquired a TDM850 that's definitely gonna progress into that survival rat look you converted me too all those years ago. Rode passed you a couple of times but was always POB and going the other way! So, I know we've never met, but wanted to tell ya for years: NICE ONE MATE!!!

  • @KermitKeir

    Cheers : )

    Good luck with the TDM.....

  • love it

  • Mad survival respect from Detroit. The roads I believe are second to Afghanistan only in terms of general state of disrepair. A survival bike makes perfect sense. You don't freak if you ding it a bit. Killer build, man! Rubber side down 4evr.

  • Nice rat. "That" is how to enjoy a motorcycle! Seems like you know how to enjoy life as well. The Tug o War was awesome! I haven't seen tha in years/

I have to say I think the bird in pic 1:26 is way hotter than the one at the end in 4:15. The first one has a look of excitement and satisfaction. The bike looks way cool with her on it. The latter looks like.. eh.. just another shoot.

    Good riding to you

  • Pic at 0:25 Rox \m/

  • That bike looks disgusting! I love it!!!!!! hahahaha

  • Chick at the end looks very ride-able. Oh, the bikes cool too! :)

  • A Noble and faithful Steed!

    Cheers

  • sound man! im sure iv looked at this bike at the bulldog or that, cool bike man

  • very vey nice bike

  • very very cool man.

  • Tell me about the busted middle aged biker body, dislocated shoulders, knee cartiledge stuffed, busted ribs, ruptured kidneys etc, hurts to ride my rat now, need a bike that doesn't require a back brace! Cheers solodog.

  • Hey Bazz, last time I heard from you you were in a hospital bed in NW London, I sent you the Custom Bike mag with your interview in it, looks like you escaped from the nurses in your wheel chair and got back on wheels again - good to see!

  • Yep, cheers.........out and about, playing with trikes and stuff : )

    Ta, for the mag..

  • Bazz- fantastic work on your bike! Greetings and respect from the Philippines

  • Thanks : )

  • Baz, I used to know you in the 80's. I worked for Hornets Despatch & used to go in the Cambridge and The One Tun in Mortimer Street. Used to meet up at Chelsea Bridge & Heston sometimes. I had (still have) a ratty silver GS850 with - ahem, sheepskin seat and scrapped on the tank. 158,00 miles last time it was ridden.

    Cheers,

    Terry

  • Hey hey hey......!!!!!!!! : ) Good to hear from you. I remember you putting that old 850 absolutely vertical past The One Tun : ) Last time I saw you and a few of your mates was when l bought that old Katana 650...?? I saw the guy that got hurt in the transit van up at the Bulldog once, in a chair...cant remember his name...he had an old GS1000 at Hornets, that l tried to help him with once.

  • How is you and your mates..? Where is ya now ? Im down in SW London still......and now into trikes as you can see in my other vids. You planing any bike meets this Summer ??

    Bazza : )

  • Living in Hampshire - had a break but still doing courier work! For myself now though and mostly in a van. Had the 850 26 years in August. That makes me feel old.

  • Old...? Tell me about it : ) I feel like a teenager stiil, but trapped in someone elses middle-aged worn out body... I wanna be uploaded into a titanium and carbon fibre Suzuki prototype robot : )

  • You've got a good memory. It used to spend most of it's time on the back wheel. Always had fucked fork seals and clutch didn't last too long.

I think the bloke with the GS1000 was Pete? Was it a yellow or am I thinking of someone else? He badly hurt his leg years ago. They were good times.

    What happened to Mo'rat?

  • Its hard to forget such an unlikely bike at 90 degrees to the road, and kept there : ) Most GS850s were riden a little more sedately.... Yep, Pete is the guy l was thinking of, yellow and blue GS1000. Tried to help him replace the top end but the barrels had siezed onto the crankcases. He was in the back of a transit van when it cartwheeled : ( The last time l saw Mo'rat, he was working at the 'Custom Biker' mag, (the Changeling was in No.1) in Chelsea, but it didnt get past issue 7/8 or so...

  • you need some highway pegs then squatting on it

  • MAN!!!! That was some Bike.....Hope thats not japanese technologgy......Ride On....Nd yeah what do u think of Royal Enfield Bikes.

  • Good bikes....a real classic. l like the sound of big singles : )

  • very original bike bro

  • Cheers..... : )

Just a collection of ideas from many other bikes, just put onto one bike...

  • Wow, thats crazy you've had it all these years and it still virtually looks the same.

I'm def not into rat bikes but you def. have the first coolest one in my book. Good job man!

  • you are a badass

  • This bike has got to be one of the best. Love it.

  • What doe's one say?!!

Would love to go back to my past!!

The great times I had!! On many a bike!!

    Know how you feeling Bass...................

You say it all in video and sound's, Mate

luv yeh xx Helloner 13 xx

  • Bazza,iv just gone on your site and just saw you in the para-paraglide vid and just wanted to say a Massive Respect to you.i read about you havin an off on a bike ,wasnt Changeling was it?.You have a cool trike there mate ,you cant beat the sound of a V8,Fantastic landing in your vid ,isnt it peaceful n quiet up there ,i did a static jump 2500ft at Headcorn once, what a buzz. Also see your into Triumph, had a Rocket3 last year another cool engine to trike aye??peace & RESPECT to you Bazza...Dave.

  • Hiya Dave, cheers : ) I had a big 'off' on the only brand new bike I ever bought (that'll teach me) A deep blue Yammy TDM900, good allrounder and great for wheelies !!! It all went wrong coming off the M23 on a fast left-hander towards Crawley at about 90mph.. Lucky to be here in any shape or form : ) I wanted a Rocket3 trike but theyre a bit pricey : ( I love my Monster V8, its a real buzz but I cant get the front wheel up !!

And being alone in the air is almost as good as pure MDMA...! : )

  • Yeah Bazza,i had a bit of a Suzzi thing .When the 250 law came in in the 80s i got myself a GS thou with sidecar, scared myself shitless going around lefthanders, but great when going to the Kent Custom show, just fill it up!!2 GSthous,2Gsxr1100 and a TL1000R,650Dr800Dr.Changeling Too Trike!??That will be fine for 2009,make it so.Bike ,car or JETengine???I bet the Germs were gobsmaked as the TUV here is worse than the uk.Anymore pics of the old girl?P&R Dave.

  • Get yourself a cheap donor and with your vision and skill make a 21st century "CHANGELING".....go on ,your a long time dead..

So she went to Germany, what did the Germs think of her?.They like their fighter/rat bikes out here ."CHANGELING 11 the TRIKE Mmmmm it has a ring about it .HaHa.Peace n Respect.Dave

  • Definitely a possibility.... The German bikers loved it, it blew them away that we could ride things like this in the UK !!!

How about a play on the words two-to-too..? "The Changeling Too Trike"....???

    Bazza : )

  • Nice one Basketcase3,I first saw your bike in the early 90;s in BSH and fell in love with it .For me you got the style and look just right .Its like seeing an old mate again and nice to know that the old girl is still around(Happy Days)I had a matt black GSThou ,flame thrower exhaust but shitty points Ah ,anyway thanks for making my days back then and for posting this vid.

  • Hiya Dave, glad you like it.. I came through Germany a few times on it, on trips to Poland/Hungary/Slovakia. I went to a bike show in Wurzburg on it and had a great time : ) And went to the Nurnberg festival. When I was a kid, the GS1000 was king of the road, so once I was older I just had to get me one. I had 2 GS550s, a GS750, several GS1000s and a GSX1100. The Changeling was the end result of an obsession with GS's and Chops/Rats... If I could get my hands on it again I would trike it ! : )

  • He's brave, the matey pulling on the front of the Tug of War bikes, if the rope snaps he's gonna have tyre marks all the way up him!

  • It was a chain padlocked on both ends...it was redredred-hot when we took it off !!!!!!!!

  • but its stayed in one piece then?

You must have had that bike years, is it still going?

  • Didnt snap, luckily... Yeh its still going. Nik Samson, the editor of 100%Biker mag has it now. It was in issue 101 : )

  • nice bike man!!respect from romania!

  • There you go. All done and dusted.

  • Cheers : )

  • if you hadnt of gone on to build mental bikes i may never of got my first bmx... mind you, even that was done up a little mental when i got it off you lol.

oh, by the way, having watched this vid, me mum said "i remember that bike as well... and those bloody jeans messing up my sofa!"

  • LOL !!!! : ) I'll get your Mum some grease remover for xmas....

  • hahaaaa! she said its too late, shes got a new sofa

  • Cheers : ) The single carb is part of a turbo system I had on it for a while..!!!

  • brilliant! I love to see someone who celebrates originality. I am just working up the bottle to wade into my NTV 650 with the angle grinder.

  • Hacksaws, angle grinders and arc welders are the best fun....go for it : )

  • I remember that bike years ago in either AWOL or BSH mag ....it was the best thing i had ever seen on two wheels apart from a courier chap in london wheeling a CX500 right up on it's rear fender between two rows of stasionary traffic ! It's GREAT to see it still going and not laying rusted in some back garden next to busted into shed !

  • Yep, its good to see it still alive. I love your mad GSX11 too : )

  • keep em ratted!!

  • ugly but wicked bad ass looks like your in love like me with my sv 650 rat/street fighter keep ridin!

  • this man is the coolist dude you could meet.. he knows how to build and ride em!!

  • Is that you, Barty..? : )

  • thats fucking awesome...i have the same style as you but you already had it way back in the days...im 18 now...my time is now haha ;)

  • Heheheee...

Good luck to ya : )

  • Yeh well, you know how it is....they couldnt transfer their contact numbers list and kept the old ones...but they did promise to post 'em : )
