This is not an easy song, and how Roy Harper pulled it off I cannot imagine. Can you picture the scenario? David tries to nail it and says screw it; Roger tried and it's bullshit, and they both ask aloud, "Hey, maybe Roy still recording next door?"
Roger can, and has nailed the high pitched notes that trail upward. David's voice is far too pure and not whiny enough for this ... he has a deeper voice that is more like a haunting echo than nasally.
The reason this sounds so different is that Roy Harper sang the studio version from "Wish You Were Here". Roger and David still sing it together well on their own. Roy has even appeared on occasion with 'Floyd live to sing it too. He has also appeared live with David Gilmour to sing "Short and Sweet", as well as some great work with Jimmy Page like "Hope' and "Short and Sweet". Check out the vids!
I love it when people say "The live versions just don't sound the same"... THANK GOD! or we would have not got to hear this... I wish I was there... amazing to think what directions they could have gone..
Thank You for Upload. Seriously, Thank you, a very rare version. One my fave song, really, my fave's songs Pink Floyd are various, All in Pink Floyd is good.

Gilmour should have sang this song when they played it live. His voice sounds more like Roy Harper's than Waters.

Roger has said that he always thought the band sould have asked him to sing, instead of Roy, (he hope to hear "you do it Rog!" but they did´t
