@eyebo Well, I see a racing game with crazy tracks. Graphics - as far as youtube videos allow to judge - seem decent. That'd render my answer as "'k, s'pose".
@greggv8 Real world tracks usually translate very badly into TrackMania. Why? Because the game makes it possible to have a much more engaging and fun experience. You generally design tracks that are fun to drive, based on the physics of the game.. not on some preconceived idea or real world track.
@greggv8 To answer your question though, the Silver State Classic would be hard to make because of the length of straight track required. The map sizes are square and finite. You can't just build a straight track for a really long distance. That's not to say you can't get some insane speeds in the game. Do a youtube search for "Tiger Blood GanjaRider" (without the quotes) and watch the video of that track. You can see some very fast maps are possible.
@RJHTommy There can be upwards of 50. But bear in mind that there are no collisions, and for good reason. Most tracks are hard enough to get a good time on without other people smashing into you. :) Trackmania is definitely a racing game for non-racing fans though. There's not much to learn apart from how the car reacts with the road. Just jump in and drive!
it's kinda stupid that when you try to pass a car you can go trough him, the whole fun of the racing games is the carnage and destruction you can do ... i think i'll stick with FlatOut2
@necroshey To each his own of course and I respect your opinion. But TM has always been about setting the best time and driving extreme tracks. If you were constantly colliding with cars it would ruin all the fun.
@DjDraguithu Check the maniaplanet forums. There are already some people doing car skins and it's being discussed how to do it. You will find more info and knowledgeable people there than here on YouTube. Alternatively you can check the trackmania carpark forums. They've been working on some skins as well. And there is a new site coming soon for skins and 3d models for TM2 called maniapark.
The game will be available on August 17, 2011 for a public beta. It will cost 19.99 euros and you will get the final version when it's released. Check the developers blog for more detailed news about it (I've added the link in the video description).
@xAdept Nadeo is saying that it will be "free-to-stay". What that means is... once you buy it you can play it as much and as long as you want and there is nothing that costs real money in-game. So there will be an up front cost to purchase the title(s), but after that you can play it till you're heart's content (much the same as Trackmania United).
@TheJarago So July was Beta1, August is Beta2... and there will be a Beta3... but I'm not sure if any will be truly "open" to the public. There's been various ways to get keys... random picks from participation in contests, "stupid games" on the maniaplanet forums, and of course others that are selected from among the community. The game is slated for release in September. And remember this is just the first installment of Trackmania²... more environments/titles will come fairly regularly.
@TheCdestre It's a compilation (as the title says) of 6 different videos... edited and synchronized to the music. The start part (including all the behind the car race scenes) was actually heavily edited from 40 minutes of footage from DHS2011. The 4 trailers at the end were only minimally edited. And then I added the end text. So yes, I did "put it together" as FNGThatOneGuy said.
this game is so fun :)

@Anvilshock So that's how you feel about the music... which has nothing to do with the game. What do you think of the game?

@Anvilshock Fair enough. Thanks for the reply. ;)

Looks neat. Can a reasonably accurate replica of the Silver State Classic road course be built in this game?
