It's not cranked up to the tension you have on a marching snare because that definitely would mess up the shell, but it's a marching head.

They're Remo black suede marching heads on the toms I believe, and the snare head is a kevlar marching snare head.

I doubt the kevlar marching snare head. To get that head up anywhere near the tension required would wreck the shell.
