  • Hi.

A shopping recommendation: I've been looking at these on ebay, and they are all more than you paid. I did just find it for $7.95 at a place called Home Science Tools, and was able to buy via PayPal. I bought it with a nice looking little lab stand to place it under for another $3.

    Best regards,

    Rick

  • why does it say wickless and it has a wick in it? DUH LOL BTW i like your videos Thanks Hiram

  • why does it say wickless and it has a wick in it? DUH LOL

  • Thanks for the video, but kind of disppointed in the stove as the videos I have seen seem to have a more powerful flame. Maybe yours just did not heat up or a design error not sure. But I like the looks.

    cheers

  • iv got the same one

  • were using these exact some ones in science!!

  • I have one of these as well, and I do not like it. It takes forever to get water boiling with this stove.

  • Hiramcook - What kind of alcohol did you use?

Would it work with ethanol or vodka?

  • I used denatured alcohol in this. I would think that ethanol would work and maybe vodka too if it were a high enough proof. That would be interesting to try vodka in some of my stoves I've tested.

  • lol

cool vid but the dog steals it in the end

  • there is double burners just like this design on eBay.

  • That's the first wickless alcohol stove I've seen with a wick in it.

I meen why did they cll it wickles? When it obviously has a wick in it.

Every coil type stove does. that's how they work.

  • most of the coil type stove create alot more pressure then this im surprised this one doent do the same maybe the alcohol pot / chamber is to big and cant maintain the heat for proper pressuring

  • Maybe I need to do another run with a full load of alcohol. In the stove I mean, not me.

  • @xsplosive1975

It's not really a coil type. It's 1/2 figure 8. There is no single complete turn or coil.

There will be little pressure when compared to the other coil stoves you see on yt.

Also the diameter of the wickless stove copper pipe is a little narrow.

The metal container is nice though.

  • cool stove!

  • Pretty neat.

Very informative. What was the weight of the unit?

    Max

  • I poured out the alcohol and took the weight of this burner but remember that there will still be some alcohol left in the coil. The weight I got on my postal scale was 6oz. Not exactly a gram weenie item but then I didn't plan on putting this in my pack. Hope that helps.

  • spiffy

  • That looks very similar to the one I have, except mine has two coils.

I didnt get a boil out of mine, but I didnt experiment with it too much.

I am interested in what you come up with for a pot stand. Perhaps one that sits on top of the stove?

    Bill

  • I made one out of a gallon can, I drilled 2 holes (2.5 in. apart)on each side up and down the side of the can. then got two pieces of tubing (about 8 and a quarter inches long) that you can stick through the holes, and then I put a piece of flat metal to put my stove on. This pot stand I can use for my soda can stoves and my dual coil stove. Very handy for me, but kind of heavy and bulky. Hope this helped.

  • Yes, thank you very much.

    Bill
