@crazycracker187 what you're seeing is it being rerun on VH1, but this was recorded for MTV Unplugged as you can obviously see at the beginning, lower left corner. This is on the Pride and Joy DVD, which the performances are label as MTV Unplugged
amazing technique and wonderful style, man plays triple stops on a 12 string like no one's business. he's absolutely amazing. definitely a legend both in his time and after.
Incredible feel. It has always made me wonder how an individual can develop a skill so much, they can transcend technique and open up into more spiritual 'zone' playing. It seems to me all the best players do this - that's what makes them special.
No one sucks at playing guitar.....some are just better at it is all. The love and joy of playing is the true art that we are all addicted to......so jam on!

Saw this on MTV shortly after Stevie died. I was a teenager, amd it was the first time I ever heard a 12-string acoustic guitar, he blew my freakin' mind!
venia lento el pibe este......... que monstruo, si no lo viera creeria que hay 2 o mas guitarras sonando.... impresionante.. la velocidad de la mano.... guau.
Walk into a guitar shop and ask for their best 12-string. Crank this one out and say: "I guess i'll take it. I wish it could keep up with me better though." lol
@PaulThe123 Dissolved in Brandy, thats what SRV used to do, then he got better and saved his life through AA and then died in a Helicopter Accident...some things just happen for no reason I guess
the guitar he's using wasn't actually his, he borrowed it from someone for this gig and afterwards as well. his hand was so strong he was playing it sometime after and he broke the neck!
@wallofjustin Its a GUILD JF6512 12-STRING ACOUSTIC....Its an awesome guitar he actually cracked that one while he was playing, but it belong to a friend of his.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU PLAY THAT HARD ON A 12 STRING?! He must have had finger tips of steel.

One thing is to play fast and tight on a Electric guitar
It is harder to do it on an acoustic, but on a 12 string acoustic?

I saw him in the pouring rain at the state fair, a short set like his life, but awesome while it lasted. really glad I saw him live.
I also remember watching this very show..well, back when the M in MTV meant music television...don't even bother

If interested search facebook for " 12 string guitar fans " and join in.

@gerry3x I gotta disagree. Stevie is playing super well on this; howeer, Leo's Vaseline Machine Gun is a lot harder than this, and a touch faster.
Both are excellent though!
