Theyre so cuuute. <3 I was wondering, is it true that you have to remove the babies and put them in another cage once they've learned to eat by themselves?
Hi where did you buy the parent finches and what did you do to the babies after they all grew up? And one more question is it okay to breed brother and sister finches? Thanks
@335456364 Hi, I bought the parent finches from a local bird store. Petco and Petsmart have them sometimes, too. I kept one of the babies, and gave the rest away. Brother and sister birds should not be allowed to breed, because the babies could have problems such as genetic defects or physical deformities.
The nesting material is tiny bits of purple cotton fabric leftover from a quilt I was making at the time. Sorry to hear that some of your finches passed away. A good place to visit for help and information is finchforum (dot) com (no affiliation).
As far as the turnout, there was one male and I believe the rest were females, if I recall correctly.
What kind of material did u use for the nest?that purple stuff. Right now only 1 out of 4 of my finch fam babys is alive. I'm not sure how they all died. They used cotten to build there nest and I feed and water and everything everyday but 3 of them died. Now I have a 5day old baby finch
The parents feed them by eating seeds, which are stored in their crop ... basically a "holding area" for the food before it's digested. Then the parents return to the nest, and feed the babies with the stored food.
Check out my new zebra finch I got today on my channel :)

What was the chick turn out? How many females and males?
Beautiful birds by the way. I used to raise them. Never had luck with hatching. The eggs always got crushed or broke :(
