@Silenth11 -It is not required the but most common way in the US and Canada. Many judges will subconsciously prefer a cropped dog since that is what they are most used to seeing and it does give the animal a more alert expression.
To the people that make comments against pointing their ears, it increases their ability to hear. They enjoy the increase in acute hearing. My standard would move his ears independently to hear from multiple sources.........

The practice stems from when they originally did work for a living. long tails are easily damaged in the field and would leave them open to constant infection. It is done right at birth.
Ears usually follow at about 5-6 weeks, but that is done completely under anesthesia.

i think its regulation for competition to crop the ears and the tail, but meh i could be wrong.
