Yes... Africans do suffer..... We must feel guilty. It is a very old story about the ' bad white man' but at least 50% it is the population of those countries who is guilty of having mismanaged their own natural resources.What can we do? Diamonds are what is left when the earth has squeezed everything it can out of the underground oil deposits (fossil fuels). So, one could say diamonds are the earth's bowel movement.

All the more reason to take the oil out of the ground now and use it, and never let it turn into diamonds.
