FYI, I wondered why last year when I commuted I was always out of gas; I moved in town and seemed like I used a tank only over 80 miles if that. When I went traveling in the summer I got 31 to the gallon; and strange because I had my full pump stuff all flushed etc. Went back to Jiffy Lube, angels, and said, buy Premium Gas only, Ethanol DOES destroy your engine and burns up in a heart beat. I filled up with Premium while traveling so it made sense; it's all I use now and I'm still full.
@mlmr11 Thats what gold and silver are... bartering tools, just like your wool, beef, or wood. The wonderful thing about precious metals are that they are "single atom" elements. nothing can be "mixed" to make them. They are here in limited amounts on the planet, they never rust, and CANNOT be destroyed! If lava were to roll over your bullion, after it cooled, the gold/silver would be a nice lump inside. However meat spoils. So whatever goods u can't use, you trade for gold/silver to store.
@aaronandnicole Nice move ! I suppose we should thank the banksters for keeping prices artificially low so we keep adding to our collections at these bargain prices. Keep on stackin.
First Majestic is $7.50 above spot, this is amazing as i have never seen their prices so much above spot. Oh and don't forget you have to pay for delivery.
@raymondk2005 My local shops want 10 over and the internet says "delayed" I think they want to hold stock that they prepaid for and drop ship on new orders. We will have to wait and see how low they can drive the paper price and how big the gap gets. They are getting too bold with their blatant manipulation. They just want to discourage people investing in precious metals period. I think it's great they are not getting a hold of the physical they really need.
I'm going to make a few predictions 1. QE3 is coming within the next 3-4 months and it will be the largest. 2. Kinda part of 1 but we will bail out the Eurozone with a large portion of qe3. They will do it prob by buying euros somehow. 3. We will be at war with Pakistan within the next year. Ever since the raid of0 Osama bin Laden things have been akward with pakistan. We need to control where the little bit of oil is left, and the people in charge know it.
@jowen034 I think your right on. They will probably have to pull the same "operation twist" they are doing in the U.S. to artificially pump up the economy. No one is stupid enough to buy long term bonds so they are selling short term bonds to raise the capital to buy long term bonds to keep the ponzi scheme going. It is so obvious it is a bait and switch ponzi scheme. You are in effect buying long term bonds disguised as short term bonds, Soon this whole ponzi scheme will crash.
I'm not very familiar with physical silver and gold coins. The ones you have, are they minted or or are they like 1 oz melted down coins with no official mint? Do they have to be minted to hold value or could you get things melted down to make your own? I'm guessing there would have to be some sort of official grading system perhaps with special seals or marks to ensure quality. And when you buy physical silver or gold like you have from different establishments will they all be the same? Thanks
@Slapchop21 Governments make coins. Mints make rounds and bars. Government coins are considered the most credible. U.S. Eagle, Canadian Maple leaf, Mexican Libertad ect. Some round and bars are more recognized and therefore credible than others. In a barter situation you may be asking someone to give up valuable food, water, guns ammo ect. so you want something people recognize and trust. My favorites are the one ounce U.S. Eagle and Mexican Libertad. They are both beautiful and highly credible.
@parmk2 I cant see anything below 25 oz. That is where the next support line is if it breaks through 30. They never cease to amaze me with the boldness of their manipulation. I think they are getting overconfident and hopefully it will cost them soon.
I have a question for you. I would very much like your input. We've all been reading so much about the probable upcoming economic crisis, and seeing what's happened in the last couple days is really making it become more real to all of us. What do you think about holding real estate during these times? Do you forsee real estate taking a further turn for the worse? I have a large mortgage. Wondering if I should sell and rent somewhere until the dust settles (no Elenin pun intended!).
@guywhosfly Yes we are in for a even bigger crisis than 2008. Yes real estate has not bottomed out yet. If your Mortgage is more than the cost of rent and you cant refinance it to a 4.5% or better that would be around fair rent value than I would sell if you can. There is a lot of supply that still has not found its way to market. Many people living in homes for free that will eventually be foreclosed upon. I guesstimate 20% minimum correction depending on where you are. Buy physical instead.
@ericpadden I probably should have mentioned that I live in Canada. I know we didn't have it nearly as bad as the US in 08/09, but we still felt it. I sold my last house in May '09 for $50K less than I could have if I had sold it a year before or a year after!
@guywhosfly I can't speak for the Canada market. I would assume the fundamentals are similar but I could not say for sure. I heard you don't get to deduct you're mortgage interest in Canada like we do here in the states so I suppose that would make it even tougher to overpay for owning compared to renting. If the overhead is the same there is something to be said for ownership as far as prepping and having light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry I cant be of more help. Keep on stackin and be safe
@ericpadden Fundamentals are very similar. If there is eco-collapse in the US, I would expect it to soon follow up here. So I was curious how property owners who have the short term future in mind are handling their assets. Actually if you're renting your property as either a business or sole proprieter, you can deduct your mortgage interest, but obviously, not the principle. Heading out to the silvershack tomorrow to get me some more rounds!
@kcrone1 I don't know where you're looking, but Border Gold (the place I usually buy from) is selling for $4 over spot. If you have a place that is asking "just above spot", please let everyone know so they can take advantage.
@kcrone1 I went there and the cheapest I found a Silver Eagle round is $3.95 over spot. And that's if you buy 500 or more! Buying one will cost you $5.25 over spot. The prices you're looking at are for generic rounds. Plus you have to pay shipping. There are several benefits to buying Eagles, one of which is the fact it is real currency.
@guywhosfly Thats not too bad at current spot prices. How long does it take for delivery ? If you don't want to buy so much you can buy via "Preservation of Wealth" I buy a lot of mine there. it's like costco for precious metals. I used to get Eagles as low as 99c over spot . then 1.75 then 2.50 then 3.00 now 3.50 and a 1 mo wait. you can buy as much or as little as you like. Rounds and bars much cheaper. You can check buy bullion at wholesale on my site to learn more if you like.
@ericpadden I didn't really look too much into it, but the shipping is reasonable. But since I'm in Toronto I'd probably stick with someone local :) Plus, I'm all about Maple Leafs. I think I'm up to about 1400 or so ounces. I started stackin' late in the game (about 7 months ago) so I didn't get in when it was as low as it is right now.
@kcrone1 I think you need to do a little more research on physical reality. We mine less than 600 million oz a year. We are using well over a billion and both industrial and investment demand are increasing. The only thing keeping prices down is the massive amounts of "phantom digital" silver combined with the ever increasing margin increases of the JPM Chase owned CME group. If you know someone selling physical silver eagles or libertads for 2.00 over spot I want them now !
@kcrone1 The fundamentals are quite simple. It's a mathematical certainty what's eventually going to happen. Plus, history has a way of repeating itself. If the mainstream media wasn't in bed with JPM you'd be hearing more about this criminal syndicate and the ponzi scheme would end much quicker. Too bad this is going to be a long drawn out process before the values of precious metals get to where they're supposed to be. Now is a good time to buy. Period.
I wonder at what point in the manipulation the "right" amount of people will decide wake up and take physical possession of their silver in order to crash JPM.
@guywhosfly You would think that would have been done by now. They seem to be above all normal laws and accounting practices. How long can they drag on without having to cover their short and naked short positions ? I guess when you are the fox guarding the hen house and making all the rules you can get away with almost anything. I say almost is the key word. People are starting to wake up and get pissed. Their days are limited.
@ericpadden The vast majority of paper silver holders are still in the dark and probably will be for a long time. Unfortunately most people are too uninformed/uneducated and more importantly, LAZY, to get off their butts and request physical ownership!
@barnone11967 Its not legal its totally unacceptable and yet no one is holding them accountable. They are getting so aggressive and in your face about it it is unbelievable. We need to demand accountability and that charges are pressed against the criminals responsible.
@barnone11967 I don't think you can go wrong with any of the precious metals at these prices. As long as you are buying physical and you can hold for at least a year or two you are going to come out way ahead.
