  • I don't like everything this band does but I think they are worth a listen. I also can't be bothered to argue with others. If you don't lke what I lke, well I could care less.

  • This is why in-ear monitors are a good idea, kids.

  • I'm gonna go on facebook and share this video with all my friends :D

  • His voice needs more reverb

  • Pure perfection!

  • i absolutely love seeing 'electronic' bands play live shows. this is brilliant. and to those that think 'electronic genre' bands aren't examples of quality musicianship...consider most band's studio recording's are equally 'electronic'...they are recorded using loops of filtered pre-recorded playing of instruments. overlayed vocals, and heavily edited.

  • I find it interesting that people call me an imbecile and tell me that I don't know what I am talking about because I don't care for the music......that is very sad. Please enjoy LCD they make music you care about and that is all its about.

  • @rangoostar I wish more people would take that kind of attitude. For the rest of you: just because you don't like something doesn't mean people who do are wrong (and you'd be kind of a jerk to try and ruin it for them), and just because you like something doesn't mean the people who don't see what you see in it are necessarily bad. Just be grateful you can see something in it that they don't.

  • 24 people dont like the song so just leave it, however on a totally unrelated incident 24 people should grow a sense of good music rather than the shit produced today, put this song on and enjoy life

  • @rangoostar why's that?

  • @rangoostar God you have no idea what you are talking about

  • @rangoostar imbecile.

  • @rangoostar please explain to be, how this is bad music?

  • @rangoostar Lady gaga and Ke$ha thats what is wrong with music today

  • 23 people do no know where their friends are tonight

  • LOVE the new order style guitar.

  • @hillsbillie Well they are in manchester after all haha

  • @hillsbillie Drumming is reminiscent of 'ceremony' too!

  • Ok bigstudmuffin you tool nice screen name you ego maniac why is white people music hysterical because we actually play the instruments instead of using machines for everything rap music sounds like garbage live. I'll take composition over loud bass notes any day. I imagine this song would be really hard to play live thats why it sounds off on the build up.

  • I really love the music video for this song.

Something's missing here though. Need to mic the vocals more mostly. In the video there is an incredible slow build but it's lacking in this.

This isn't to say it's not good, it is. But after falling in love with the facepaint it's a bit of a stripdownz.

  • @loveaffairblog I don't think people are saying that the notes are hard to play or memorize. It's just keeping that insane pace punching the same keys over and over for seven minutes :p

  • After that the guy on the keyboard and the drummer get the night off early.

  • Before I say this, just know that I am saying it with the utmost sincerity and insightful intentions. I don't understand why black people can say, "oh white people music is so weird," but if whites make any critiques of blacks' music, we're racist. I think black people say that because whites aren't afraid to tap into a deeper level of emotion that many African Americans are afraid to do. Granted, artists like Kanye are very introspective...

  • @auk13films ... but a large portion create nothing more than misogynistic dime-a-dozen singles. Anyway, due to word limit, I couldn't make that as thorough as I wanted it to be, but I'd love to hear some thoughts. And please don't think I'm racist, a few of my best friends are black. This issue just really captures my interest.

  • fvcking white people music is hysterical

  • cool song bros, NOT!

  • @1bigstudmuffin Why don't you like this?

  • @1bigstudmuffin Wow, you gangsta homey. Now I'm sayin'? Big props!

    Douchebag...

  • Fuck me i thought this was looped.

  • I wish i could create music like this.

  • amazing how the keyboard sounds better here than in the studio version

  • you think over and over hey i'm finally dead.... best lyric ever.

  • seriously wish this was a higher quality upload

  • watch this space for a new synth pop band.

  • Just so you know; their last live performance in Madison Square Garden will be streamed for free on pitchfork

  • You got to know that the keyboard playing guy dreads this song.

  • im honestly not sure whats more impressive: james murphy's amazing vocals, or that drummer hitting that beat the WHOLE time.

  • is it true thses guys are retiring in April?

  • @ARSEOFIT yes.

  • Ahhh that guitar riff.

  • @seerunning

    So good man.

  • The piano player MUST be a robot, this is too awesome for words, likes, ratings, or acts of devotion. God bless LCD soundsystem.

  • Alarm clocks never sounded so good! Say goodbye to lcd april 2, they quit music cause they sound like pots n pans!!

  • I like almost everything, and I can't stand this band. Oh how I've tried.

  • James Murphy looks like my highschool English teacher

  • @thyafter For some reason I love this comment.

  • Id be jammin my ass off if I was at this show during this song...!

  • the idea of this playing the super bowl is hilarious.

  • @kennedytim11 You're right, this is way too good for the super bowl

  • @acup79 trololololololol

  • @acup79 Try harder next time

  • @acup79 Go listen to some T-pain you musically retarded tween.

  • @acup79 You should die... lol

  • @acup79 Isn't it past your bedtime, little boy? Shut up and come back when your brain kicks in...

  • RIP

  • Compare this band to the fucking Black eyed Peas.

  • This audience really sucks. No dancing? WHAAAT THAAA FAAACK

  • wow this is an uneventful song. haha

  • @JonnoXD I don't know if you understand what "uneventful" means...

  • Holy shit it's Bill Bailey on drums at 0:35

  • <3

  • What an adventure.

  • Wow, they rock out HARD live

  • at Sasquatch this year i thought they were looping the keys but im not entirely sure. anyone know?

  • Comment removed

  • Piano player gotta be drippin sweat on the keys...

  • WOW,,WOOOW,,WOW,WOOOW,,,VERY GOOOOD

  • I love this live version even more than the original, that guitar riff after the first verse gives me epileptic fits. Anyone know anymore songs like this?

  • @jackara only other song that does this for me is Sometime Around Midnight by the Airborne Toxic Event

  • @swiffermonkey thanks man! If the arcade fire wrote all my friends, that's what it would sound like! You have good taste in music.

  • @jackara

THere's a few songs that draw me in like this one

No Cars Go by Arcade Fire, Oh Yeah by Can, and The Snowy Parts of Scandinavia by Kinski

oh and Dripping Dream by Sonic Youth

  • RIP Jerry Fuchs...poor bastard.

  • @drummergabe who is that?

  • @drummergabe I looked him up. He was a drummer for LCD Soundsystem sometimes and he died trying to crawl out of a stuck elevator or something like that. Poor guy. Isn't the drummer in this Pat Mahoney, though?

  • @drummergabe thats not Jerry Fuchs its Pat Mahoney, but it is terrible what happened to Jerry

  • "I wouldn't trade one stupid decision for another five years of life" - so true. But go to their concert is an EXCELLENT decision!

  • yep , i think i still would have got up on stage and given him a big hug

  • I love the band but some people say they are not so good live. Is it true? I want to go see them at hollywood bowl :)

  • @NyNNaitis Did you watch the video? How could you think they wouldn't be GREAT live?!

  • @thefrush Really? I said that I love the band and that I would like to go see them live. Where in the sentence that I say I don't think they wouldn't be good live? and yes, I watched the video.

  • anyone know how to play the piano part?

  • I was there! On the last song, (New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down, power went out and they finished it without any electricity!

  • you can see the pain in his face. lol, what a man!

  • esta tema fue hecho para escuchar andando en skate por la ciudad

  • This is.... epic.

  • bill murray is playing on the drums?

  • that keyboard intensive,

the Singer seems like his voice is fading, i am guessing this song wasnt the first song played, correct?

  • WhiteHousePoofed. Indie band set to go big. check us out you might like what you hear. more fans=more money=better recordings

  • The passion is the meaning.

  • I thought Nancy played the strenuous keyboard stuff.

  • @goldhammerislame Well, if you listen to the studio version, there some synth, so I assume Nancy would be the taking that over live.

  • @les5th4nthre3 At about 3:20 you can hear it.

  • @PsycoticPanda7 how about-

    B.C- "Banging Rocks"- Neanderthals

A.D.- "All My Friends"- LCD Soundsystem

  • wow, the living dead people watching frankenstein

  • Loads of people have commented on how hard it must have been for the keyboardist, but that just shows the band's commitment to a live performance. (Sorry to sap the humour from the whole thing.)

  • LCD Soundsystem is one band you are not allowed to dislike, ever.

  • enorme verdad¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • Poor drummer. 16th notes for 7 and a half minutes are a bitch.

  • @MrBerenstain Not if you're Pat Mahoney.

  • @les5th4nthre3 Lol True :)

  • @MrBerenstain Pat's one of my drumming idols, while James is just overall my idol.

  • pianos guys fingers must have been on fire

  • They are one of those bands that are great recorded but just perfect live

  • Just saw them live at the Fillmore on June 3rd. Never really listened to them before but this was amazing live

  • so good

  • this could possibly be one of the greatest, most honest songs to come out of the modern age of music.

everything just clicks in this song

  • @thomasfavelle I love how much you care...just like the band.

  • this made me wish I had the chance seing them live

there's so much energy and (...) oh fuck

    it's just great so great

  • i think the fact that the piano player is playing the riff the whole time adds so much energy to this already fucking epic song

  • the best ever

  • what i love about this band is that they take the best bits of a lot bands and represent them in a great way... this is obviously new order's temptation.

  • LIVE IN VANCOUVER! Anyone else gonna be there?

  • @JordoBaggins27 no Jordan.... Your going to be the only on there...............

  • AHA....It's so fucking reminiscent of Joy Division...

  • And God created James Murphy...

    Absolutely fabulous song.

Wednesday 05 : live in Bruxelles, Sunday 09 : Live in Paris

What a lucky man I am...i am going to live that two times in a week!

  • I wouldn't change one stupid decision for another five years of life

    brilliant

  • bonnaroo 2010 late night set, no words to describe my anticipation

  • FUCK YES!!

  • I can't believe that I ignored this band before today. I need to hit the record store tomorrow

  • 4 : 14. Isn't that the dude from Hot Chip?? The awesome piano shredder with the constant riff going through the whole song??

  • The awesome guitarist is from HotChip... Al Doyle.

  • i love how they actually play the keyboard part instead of easily just sampling it in

  • This is the best video on YouTube.

  • Gives me goose bumps!

  • Jesuuuuuus the piano man must be dying...fucking shredding the ivories

  • Guitar Guy is from Hot Chip?

  • Guitar guy is from Hot Chip?

  • there is nothing else to say except brilliance. and maybe that it should go for 70 minutes instead of only 7.

  • Que bosta! Putz!

  • Tbh this years leeds fest i dont think im gonna go watch axel roses beating a dead horse with whats left of GNR, think im gonna go experience somthing new live an check these guys out

  • sounds like a modern day baba o'reily from the who

  • The piano player looks a bit like Murphy...Clone, perhaps?

  • Everyone is talking about the poor pianist. have you checked out the drummer? that guy is in an epic battle with 16th notes the entire time

  • yeah but the piano requires a bit more of a subtle aim and touch and requires quick motion between small spaces compared to swinging your arms at a giant hi hat which requires little accuracy and is more natural for your muscles.

  • @urbanhag as both a pianist and drummer, i find trying to play either instrument, at that tempo, for that length of time, almost daunting. These guys are as fucking legit performers as they are writers. Its nice to see a live act do the studio recordings justice.

  • @aronmauck 16th notes aren't that hard, practice is all, but they are all amazing at what they do

  • holy fuck

i just discovered this song and this band

if i could climb inside this song and live there i would

  • New Album May 18!

  • and after this song the guy playing keyboard gets a 2 hour break...

  • I don't know what would happen to LCD Sounsystem if that guy broke those three fingers

  • @anearforbaby

Props to the drummer as well. He plays like a bloody metronome

  • @anearforbaby Yeah they really should just loop the piano riff. But fucking spectacular song.

  • @anearforbaby

just think of what a drummer goes through every song...

  • @anearforbaby hahahaha. nice Thermals reference name, btw :]

  • @anearforbaby God...it hurts just thinking of playing that for 7 minutes

  • YES! Seeing them in Manchester this summer. :)

  • Spaziali!!!

  • 24 April - Bring. It. On :D

  • @fish756 ill see there

  • Holy damn, I always thought the piano part was looped!

  • in the recording you hear the messed up timing. it makes it sound amazing though

  • @BLOCPARTY49 It will have been in the studio I imagine. But props to that poor guy for going at it for 7 odd minutes.

  • @BLOCPARTY49 It may have been on the album (I don't know whether it was), but LCD doesn't use any loops when they play live. Every sound is produced manually. They have a whole list of rules that I read somewhere that are basically designed to make the live show as honest as possible.

  • @BLOCPARTY49 its all live and its all spectacular.

  • @BLOCPARTY49 well, i guess they didnt think that far ahead haahah

  • Majestic performance. Great song. Yes, the drummer is working his ass off, keeping that 16th note beat on the hi-hat through most of the band's songs. Although the pianist gets the award on this song for hardest part. Playing the same thing over and over for 7 minutes on the piano is fucking tough.

  • semplicemente perfetta

  • Comment removed

  • shut up

  • I think the drummer is much more impressive in terms of the continuous amount of effort he needs to put in during the whole song.

Also the Asian girl is pretty cute.

  • lol...what about the guy on elec piano,,cramp wrist city !

  • Well I that's what I was referring to in my comment since so many people had mentioned the guy on the electric piano is insane. I think drummer is actually doing more work once he actually starts playing.

The drummer's beat is much more complex than the pianist who plays a lot of the same notes. If anyone actually plays one or both of the instruments and can correct me if I'm wrong I'd appreciate it.

  • yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cant fucking wait for april

  • i think its better live too and its crazy that the pianist can hold that beat for that long great song

  • Unless it's something like that Letterman version. I am so glad this doesn't get radio play. A 4min version is like a 10 page War and Peace... and I totally agree watching the piano is INSANE!

  • an i the only one who thinks this song is better live?

  • yes only you. its good live but with the limited singing skill of murphy, the song its treated way better on the album. plus the album version sounds anthemic while in here sounds more like rock

  • Way too much energy for me to keep still

  • dublin. april. you better beleive it.

  • @RickPower345

    Hell Ye!!

  • This song reminds me of a nice crisp Novermber day in Minnesota.

  • coachella tent. daaaaam

  • This is the kind of song that only happens once in a lifetime. My absolute favorite song.

  • its just perfect

i hope he can write another song likes this on his next album, just one

  • greatest song.

never noticed until i saw this live show that this tune has a super joy division influence. of course, LCD makes it much less gloomy and complex.

  • Song of the Decade

  • Just so great.

    Plain and simple.

    My favorite song.
