Followed them both and it's definitely Janet Lynn. In all of her losses she was ALWAYS the best free skater (except for the 1973 short program at worlds). Kwas was always solidly beaten when it counted at the Olympics by a more exciting skating who was willing to risk it all to win.
I still get "lost" in her skating...she is still breathtaking after all these years...the edge quality alone is incredible! Deep knees that just flow into the ice as smooth as butter...the skaters of today need to study this video!
I'm not getting any sound, but I take it this is a home movie!!! Wonderful to be sooo close, it's almost like being on the ice with her in a practice session!! really neat!!!
Who is the greatest non gold medalist?Janet Lynn or Michelle Kwan?I guess it depends on how old the people you as are.

This footage was silent, unfortunately.
However, Janet's skating was such that you really don't need to hear the music!
