I'm at a boarding school and it's so annoying how much they block. They're blocked more shit this year and now one of my favourite photographers (and inspiration for many of my major works) is blocked because it's "sexually explicit". Argh I could die- I do not look at his work for the nudity but for the colour, contrast and total off-beat feeling of his work. BLOCKING SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED.
I thought you guys were apart of the free world? Since when did Australia join China and North-Korea in their internet policy? I was thinking about studying in Australia, but if you're going for censorship and police state mentality I'm staying right here in the free world with the sane people...
The fact of the matter is that the "child porn" the government loves talking about so much can be obtained by the sick freaks via Peer to Peer, eg: Limewire, BitTorrents, so on and so forth. None of this stuff runs through a ISP server.
Also, Child Pornographic lovers, as disgusting as they are, will be smart enough to form rings of email and other sorts of trafficking. This simply has FAIL written all over it.
Just clearing a few things up; Labor Government followed through with this idea from the previous government, so changing governments will do nothing. Also they are blocking World of Warcraft and Steam, 2 massive needs for gamers. To add insult to injury they are blocking all pornographic material be it child pornography or not. Gambling and drugs too. You cannot police the internet. Spending 42$+ AUS dollars when I can get a re-route to the US in 2minutes WILL SOLVE NOTHING.
They supplied Filters for free for all families, i think they should be enough. Or maybe supply it free when you join a ISP, would be alot cheaper than 42mil
Government censorship is purported to be for the people but I believe the safety and wellbeing of the people are the lowest priority of censorship proponents. Having everything blown wide open with no laws enforced would would be bad and children do need protection, but the way the web works now is restrictive enough, we don't need it to get worse.
This idea was originally brought in by the previous party so i am not sure if a new party would help.. and even if they say they wont bring it, they always break election promises.
Well, hello!? What use is there putting this sort of crap up? You can't expect people to be content with that (at least not all of them). Where the hell do they get these ideas anyway? Do they want to get voted out in the next election or something? Yeish!
If the school kids can get around the filters on the schools internet connection then this is a guaranteed fail. The Government may as well piss our money up against a wall..

I would like everyone to go back say 20 years, before all this crap internet started and see who survives.
My biggest fear we are all becoming slaves to the machine networks and not being humans.
In that thought there is a free video for you, enjoy.

Thanks for the info, They think they can police it, but how do we get them to listen :)
TrueBlueAustralian 2 years ago
We get the same crap here. Nobody wants to take
responsibility for their kids actions so the rest of us bear the burden because someones precious
might be offended by adults talking about adult subjects.
I wouldn't let a kid drive a car and using a comp should be in the same category. Turning
your little dipshit loose on the Net should be
punished by their becoming wards of the state.
Force them to build a separate interNet for kids in Oz
and make every member of the government use it too,

It's never an 'election'. It's only a 'selection'. We need to vote in someone who we actually know. TrueBlue maybe :D

certainly an improvement for his wife's rude head!
I'd be happier if he swapped his internet and refugee policies.
Shut the borders and open the internet!
Encourage knowledge sharing and stop letting in people who break our immigration laws.
If he gets back into office in 2011 I will form a task force of brick throwers to deal out some good old fashioned beating of sense into them!
