I always thought they sounded a lot like My Bloody Valentine in terms of guitar, mixed with glam rock Bowie, at least at their best.

The whole Zeitgeist album is tremendous. Some day, people will get over all their retarded hang-ups and realize that they've been shitting on one of the best overall albums ever released.

Well, with Smashing Pumpkins, the great thing was that even when they were playing heavy, it was still personal, just in a different way. The Zeitgeist album was all heavy and barely personal though. I know that was kind of their goal, but its not really them that way.
