It's a carp, They were originally brought to the US from europe. They do incredible damage to the native fish species and other wildlife as well. Their feeding habits stir up sediment and destroy aquatic vegetation that other fish use as cover and waterfowl use as feed. They maybe considered a prize fish in other countries but in America they are trash fish and need to be eradicated.
Well done, Ross, for releasing this amazing old fish. A fantastic example of what catch and release can offer. We'd sincerely welcome you at the Carp Anglers Goup if you wished to come and see us.

We are all invasive specs in les you are Native American. So maybe we should all be eradicated. For you info carp wer stocked in the USA and Don’t believe every thing the department of fish and wildlife tell you,
@punkboy198 not all amaericans are like that. a lot of them do treat them bad. but im amaerican and treat them with care. so are about 20 or so of my friends.
@catfishmania Why do you treat them with care? Carp need to be eradicated, they are destroying the habitats for the other fish. In a lot of states it is actually illegal to return them to the water, including where I live.
@Goingpostal1000 no they dont, they are amazing creatures and need to be handled with care. What if somone did that to you, im sure you wouldnt like that. and your telling me it is illegal to release them where you live, well if you hate them so much why did you release it? If you are to release it treat it with care before doing so. If you do kill it dont waste it by throwing it away, eat it or somthing!
@catfishmania If you had a brain you would realize I am not the one who posted this. They are amazing creatures that need to be enjoyed, in there natural habitat. They need to be eradicated from all non native habitats, and the department of wildlife resources will poison the waterways to do this, (they do it all the time) So I try and remove all I can by other means. All fish I take are used in one way or another. I am not a fish, so if someone did that to me it would obviously be different
Next time bring a bow.

Its a Common Carp...They are from Asia, although they are not publicized as "Asian Carp" such as the silver carp and the bighead carp.
