Great vid! Btw, who cares if they were meant to be gay in the books? This is based on it, not adapted 100%. So this modern version can be whatever it chooses to be. Watson seems straight, which is fine by me since there're still enough shippy moments between him and Sherlock. ;) Also, um this is a "slashy" fanvideo, so..XD
alright people, calm down...it doesn't matter if they're not actually gay, this is a fanmade video, and the videomaker can rlly do what they want...so let's all be friends and not get so het up about stuff that, to be honest, is pretty inconsequential, yes?? xx
Pause this video at 0:07, mute it, and open a new tab. Go to youtube and look up "Violet Hill Coldplay". Start that video at 0:11. Play them together. You're welcome.
if they were gay, then it wouldn't be subtle in the original stories. So you can safely assume that any video or fanfiction that give a gay tone to Sherlock and Watson's relationship is purely fan made and was not intended by the author who made up the characters. I just saved you all an argument :)
@barbaro267 Personally, I don't believe that in the original stories ACD wrote them as a gay couple, however that is how it has been interpreted by some people. However, if ACD wanted them to be, he WOULD have made it subtle. Homosexuality was an illegal act - a man couldn't express his love or desire for another man in public or he'd be put in prison. Look at Oscar Wilde.
The way Sherlock and John interact in the boos and in this show is friendship yes, but Sherlock in the books never found interest in anyone, and yet he expresses a deep emotional attachment for John Watson and cares about him and no one else, and that is reflected here in the show.
I can understand why people think they have a deeper connection than just friendship. To me, they're soulmates, they NEED each other to keep each other balanced, but they don't HAVE to be gay to be Soulmates! Ok?
Why are people making such a big deal over the fact that people like the newer Sherlock stuff? I'm pretty sure that we are all aware of the books (I've read the originals and think they're amazing also).
You don't see people freaking out over the re-makes of classic fairy tales like with Disney/all the other movies blablabla so why is this a big deal? And also, what's so bad about shipping them? And I bet fewer people would have issues with it if it was male/female also.
One more comment simply because I'm still watching. But I am in love with the scene where Sherlock is describing what the cop (Lestrade?) should look for in the unknown shooter and he's describing Watson and then looks over and has that thought process of "oh..oh.." its so cute!
Ignore the one person that got too many dislikes on their comment (I'm not bothering to read it) Right when I started watching the shipping began in my mind and they bring it on. the writers understand the fanbase. oh my lord its good. But I love this, great job! :)
sooooooo goooooood. ungh. Heart-achy in such a marvelous way. I am so impressed with how you found Sherlock's (Benedict's) tiny expression shifts and incorporated them so beautifully in this video. A few of them I dont think i'd ever noticed before. It had me squeeing and giggling by the end. thank you.
Perfect song for these two. Seriously, I feel like regardless of whether or not one chooses to see John and Sherlock as having a romantic or simply friendly relationship the idea that Sherlock wants and needs John to stay is very much so true. He even says in the first episode that geniuses need someone around to acknowledge them and I always feel like John makes Sherlock feel special and acknowledged and even though he might already know that himself, he appreciates it from someone else.
John Watson is Sherlock's, only saving grace, his rock, and his heart. Even, Moriarty said he has one, and there where it stands beside him. In partnership and friendship, John isn't going leave Sherlock, not ever.

I hate you all so so so much. Why can't two male characters under any circumstances simply be friends without being gay lovers. Stop indulging your pathetic wishes on friggin Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. Next you douches will be saying the same shit about Stalin and Hitler or some other nonsensical pair.
@RayleighNoir First, there is evidence in the novels and films and television series to suggest that the two love each other, both as friends or as something more. This is a legitimate interpretation of their relationship. If you hate the idea of it so much then why did you watch the video?
Second, why on earth would we make a video about Stalin and Hitler. They're far too unattractive....
No, it isn't a legitimate interpretation, you're an idiot who is looking at something originally written in the 19th century through a 21st century filter. There is nothing in the books to suggest any such relationship, you're fucking projecting your personal shlick fantasies.
@noodlezombie I may admit that there isn't much evidence in the books to suggest they were gay, but there are hints in this television series that they might be. And oh look, this is a video about the characters in that television series!
Also, I'm looking looking at it with a 21st century perspective because it's a television show set in the 21st century. Duh! My advice is you should think about your argument a little more before resorting to ad hominem attacks to make up for lack of content.
@RayleighNoir Oh dear God I hate those kind of comments.
Can you please elaborate on why, exactly, is it so pathetic? I'm just curious. What about imagining two purely fictional characters (fictional meaning they never existed so really they don't *have* a sexuality, or a conscience... they don't have anything more than what an author wants them to have.) being together even if it's not clearly depicted in the actual book/show, is pathetic and worthy of so much hate?
This song keeps getting stuck in my head because of you X3 how did you get the song? I keep trying to download it, but itunes doesnt have it and I cant seem to get it otherwise.
Love the video, btw. Dont want you thinking I'm just some drive by troller.
Wow I was totally absorbed in this video, start till finish! Love this song! It's soo perfect for Sherlock/John =D The clips you used were perfect, really made you feel for these two ^_^
Oh. My. God. You've just taken breath out my lungs because THIS is... Wonderful. A perfect match with song and the pairing. Great editing. You just saved my boring day with this! :D Faved. <3
Sherlock had always had John's trust and friendship from the first time met him. There's no-one before him understood Sherlock like John does. no matter what words Sherlock, says in anger he doesn't mean it, because words fail him when tries convey how he feels about him. But John knows how Sherlock feels, and knows Sherlock cares.
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I KNEW SOMEONE NEEDED TO MAKE A VID TO THIS SONG! Please excuse the caps abuse but this is perfect. Hurts' songs make the best Sherlock vids imho. But this is positively fantastic!
