  • Hey Mate

I have problems to install css. After purchaising css in playonlinux. he asks me if i want to install it from cd or use the steam store version. So a litte bit different from you. After im doing a double klick on steam store version he starts installing css. BUT after a few seconds this is coming:

    ERROR: Binary not found! :Steam.exe

Have you installed the program to the default location?

    Would you pls help me

  • @Jeering

  • @dadio2002

would still work... but I don't know if playonlinux will apply the needed tweaks without installing css through the gui to make it peform as good as possible...

  • You're a saint<3 . I always said I would switch to Linux when I could play TF2 on it. Goodbye, $hitdow$.

  • @VIRATEKA

well it depends.... in order to ensure your steam account is safe... one must grab hold of your left testicle, squeeze hard while signing in to steam and scream "Kaddy rocksssss" and it should all be good mate.

  • Please help me I have been tired now... I have Counter strike source installer for the windows 7.. and it is running properly on the windows.... In that installer I Have total 3 files and 2 folders. FILES 1. CSS_Full_game 2.CSS_PATCH 3.CSS_MASTERSERVER_PATCH FOLDERS 1.CSTRIKE 2.HL2 I dont have any DVD for it.. and i have to install that counter strike on the ubuntu.. i dont want to purchase the new from the steam... so what i have to do to make it run using wine and steam....

i'm not quite sure what you mean.... just copy what I do

  • I'm not trying to be a dick, but why the hell can't ubuntu be as easy as windows? You have to know some insane commands to even install a program. I mean I have to watch a tutorial for every fucking program. Ubuntu is pissing me off :(

  • @OhMyKMPR

why would you need to know commands to install a program? you got the software centre.....

no idea what your on about mate o_0

  • @OhMyKMPR

Unless you are referring to this tutorial... but that's the joys of not installing native applications... I wouldn't use Linux for Windows gaming unless you got the time to explore tweaks and hacks....

  • man, when i run steam on my comp it is soooooooo slow lol and it laggs down my entire computer. Talkin like 40-60 seconds waits between clicking the mouse :(

  • @ri8002

  • @northpaw2000

lol. Welcome to the Pain of trying to get Windows Games to work on Linux.... Sometimes things can work ok, sometimes a newer version of wine can screw compatibility up.... anywho... This is why I don't bother anymore... You will have to dig up forum posts, look for tweaks/hacks etc if you want to play win games on Linux... Can't really help you man... it's up to you to look into it....

  • @Linux4UnMe Fuckberries. I appreciate your up frontness and I'll keel my dual boot, with windows for gaming. Thanks!

  • @northpaw2000

hehe. Yeah, that would save alot of time and frustration... And any Linux user that talks it up about running windows games on Linux is biased.... like i said... alot of games will work great... with certain versions of wine.... with certain games... Most won't..... especially newish games....

  • @Linux4UnMe Thanks again. Man, I wish that Linux was supported more,

  • windows xp.

  • How can I symlink steam from POL with steam on windows?

  • Can I use wine instead? any performance differences between wine and playonlinux??

  • @jmgears

sure you can use wine instead... PlayonLinux uses the wine backend..... but they configure it a little to make things work a little better which otherwise you may have to do manually yourself...

  • opensuse ?

  • @heaheaheaa Spell?

  • ok im having a problem i have to go into the steam files to open steam and everytime i open it it starts updating and everytime i log in it says i must check my email for a code to enter cus im logging in from an unknown pc also im having the username incorrect error and should i download counter strike using steam before i do that or install it using playonlinux?

  • Just an fyi, Winetricks does all that for you.

You install steam perfectly in like 3 clicks.

  • @LLNAMROD

    havn't tried winetricks yet.... cheers

  • did you directly buy Counterstrike from steam? It also says whenever i put in my username in it says incorrect.

  • @GiygasGiratina

I already had css purchased on my steam account......... and yer that is a strange bug... Easiest way to get around it is to Launch Steam manually and use Steam itself to login to your account, and tick the box to automatically save the details. Then start again. It should auto log into Steam

  • did you directly buy Counterstrike from steam?

  • Hey I just got a linux netbook today can it run TF2?

  • @irocknrollDooM

according to wineHQ it runs perfect "emulated"

I have not played the game myself so I don't know if the netbook is powerful enough

to play this game on it

  • lol did anyone eles notice the "exposed sex tape" video XD PORN!

  • @Nissan021

LoL oh no. How DAREEEEEE I have porn............ Forgive me Father for I have sinned :s ;) :P

  • After this is it possible to launch CSS through steam?

  • @TheGrylskuz

ofcoarse. Although it runs better when you launch it from the terminal with a few tweaks

  • Okay when im installing counter-strike source it asks me for my username. So i put my user-name in and it tells me my user name is invalid. Even though my username is correct.

Why the hell is this happening?

  • @Togie69

LoL I know. it is a Bug. It took me a few goes to work around that. heheheheh

  • @Linux4UnMe

The only way i can get it to work is by putting no username in and clicking the next button.

ANYWAYS....Thanks for this guide its helped me a shitload :)

  • @Togie69

ah ok. glad you got around it then ;) hehehe

  • @Linux4UnMe

How did you get around it? entering my username doesn't work, and simply clicking Forward/Next doesn't work either for me :/

  • @Nille006 scratch that, found my way round, but now I'm waiting for counterstrike to pop up. still says Installing CounterStrike:Source in the panel but as you mentioned, can't click it. It's been like 5 minutes....

  • Linux Mint POWER !!!!!!!!!!

    Steamapps -> /Home/NICKNAME/.Playonlinux/wineprefix/Steam/drive_c/Program FIles/Steam/SteamApps

  • Does this also work with UBUNTU

  • @Togie69

    ofcoarse ;)

  • you got me to get css running but I can't get sound to work at all. any ideas? i'm running the latest ubuntu and pol.

  • @laurakuo22

hhhmmmmmmmmmmmm no idea other than messing with "winecfg" in the terminal and changin the sound settings and seeing what works........ the default usually works...... strange.........

  • @laurakuo22

install the latest version of alsa

  • no anda puta

  • @Fesser3000

    come again?

  • Hey man this video was helped me alot but I've encountered a problem when opening steam. I installed it exactly how you did but when I try to open it it, an error message comes up saying "To run Steam, you must first connect to the Internet." which doesn't make sense because I'm already connected. Any advice? Thank you.

  • @laurolimon15

that is indeed strange....what have you done exactly so far? at what point did you get upto?

try installing it again.... even if you have to go to your home folder, go into playonlinux folder and delete the steam folder in there and install steam again from fresh

  • @Linux4UnMe I did everything exactly like you did to the point where you open up Steam. I tried installing it again but it said the same thing. One thing though I've looked online for suggestions and people say to delete files within the "steamapps" folder but where is that? I've looked everywhere in the hard drive and I don't have such folder. Steam folder doesn't exist for me.

  • @laurolimon15

    weird

The Steam apps folder.... from memory.... cause I don't have steam installed at the moment.... is either in the PlayonLinux folder in your home directory.... or it might even be hidden.... so unhide all files in your home directory. It might be under .playonlinux (with the dot included) Or it might default to the .wine folder (with dot)

If I still had my Css install I could tell you exactly but I don't have it anymore :( but yeah, have a look for those

  • Oh and by the way I have the same Linux OS as you Linux Mint 10

  • Hey, when I try to install CSS or TF2 with PlayOnLinux and I get to the part where I have to enter my steam account name, I enter my name I press forward and it gives me a message saying "Incorrect user name." and I entered my name my name with no mistakes so I don't know what to do please help me.

  • @XxBlaziNFlameSxX

yer thats weird. I got that a couple of times so I closed it and started again and it was fine.......... very strange

  • @Linux4UnMe Yeah, but I've tried it like 20 times and reinstalled it twice and it still doesn't work.

  • @XxBlaziNFlameSxX

make sure you are using the latest playonlinux from their website....... other than that... I have no idea what to suggest. But i remember having this issue but it fixed itself after a couple tries...... stange.

  • do you have to download counter strike first and do i need account plz help ill stop bothering you mate thnks god bless

  • @TheDestroyerx1 You will need a account

  • hi can you plzz tell me wher i can download counter strike from thnk yo so mucch i aprreciate it

  • @TheDestroyerx1

  • @Linux4UnMe what's my steam client and how do i get it, i have wine installed tho plz tell me

  • @TheDestroyerx1

lol are you serious?? mate I show you how to install Steam in this video tutorial. Just install "PlayonLinux" from your package manager and do what I do on this video

  • @Linux4UnMe real does counter strike have a single player mode like bot's?

  • @TheDestroyerx1 Dumb Ass, the isn't free, don't be an idiot and Buy it!

  • very nice tutorial :)

  • Thanks!

  • @H4x0r18

    no worries

  • that's weird. you're running mint 9?? what happened to arch? or at least linux mint 10..

  • @elnegrobembon

lol. nar it's Mint 10. I run Many Distros on a regular basis. Arch is my main

  • i have a lot of probs with this game in linux!

  • @TheKaymor

It runs Great in Linux as I demonstrated. It just depends on what version of Wine you are using and what configurations you choose and obviously if your hardware is up to scratch or not ;)

  • Planned on doing a video like this. Very good, mate. CS plays very well on Linux ;)

  • @UbuntuHelpGuy

cheers. yerp, runs pretty sweet ;)

  • awesome vid, my problem is ALL my games are through steam, like the COD series, and it seems to be less out there on how to get those working on linux through steam. I still play counterstrike every now and then, but waste more time on black ops right now, lol. but thanks for the vid, once I eventually setup a dual boot, I want to see how well all my steam games play on linux

  • @darthsatan42

cool mate. You can check the winehq website under Appdb and find out the performance ratings for Games and Programs under Wine in Linux ;)

  • how well do you think it would run on a labtop?

  • @distortedtempo

depends on your specs mate. As long as you got atleast a dualcore cpu, 2+ gigs ram and a decent graphics card such as an Nvidia 7800 gtx or above it should work very well

  • @Linux4UnMe

I don't know how good run on that specs but on my lenny amd64 if i had 50 fps i should made a party,my css&tf2 has crashed every 2-3 min or did not started.Check my channel to see my pc spec, the compiz vids was made on Fedora,i wait to release Squeeze to test again and also i and others wait Valve build steam linux client.

    Anyway nice vid.

  • No adblock? Son I dissapoint

  • @Unreadableanon

    huh? what ya mean?

  • @Linux4UnMe there seems in your video that you do not have adblock when visiting playonlinux website, just a little bit odd for a Mozilla user.

  • Cool! That worked really well under Linux. Made me want to play the game! I don't really play games any more but watching your video reminded me of all the hours and hours I used to spend playing Enemy Territory. That was a long time ago!

Not so impressive: I got "Book Worm" to work on Ubuntu. :)

  • @mousegeek

haha yeah. I like the old Enemy Territory still ;)

  • wanna play some css? i added ur steam account to my list

  • @wcfakker

LoL. yeah sure.... we could do that. i'll probly be online a fair bit ;)
